Yea, I really don't know. I checked the registry for his work address and most of my other old clients came up but he didn't. It may have been a juvenile court thing that he avoided the actual conviction but still had some of the consequences. He was the only offender I had that was caught as a juvenile, so that may have played a part.

Good to know. We did have to inform his neighbors, had to check to ensure his residence was more than 1000ft from a school and whatnot, but I'm 99.9% sure he wasn't ever in jail. It may have been before 2007, but I can't be sure.

I had an offender client who was underage and mildly MR at the time he assaulted his step-siblings and IIRC he didn't serve any time, but I know he had all the restrictions (distance from school, notifications, etc) a convicted-then-released offender had. I had a few convicted MR offenders on my caseload as well, so being sub-70 IQ isn't going to preclude a person from a conviction, btw.

I wish people thought like this 21 years ago when I started working with young children with autism. Men as nurturers are met with curiosity, surprise, or even fear. I had one mom a couple years back say that I couldn't work alone with her daughter, I reassured her that none of my staff are alone with the children, but I knew what she meant.
