Everyone has deal breakers, doesn't matter if they're reasonable or not. Some men will only date short blondes, others want a specific ethnicity, etc. It's their loss - the world is a big place with a lot of attractive people. If she is aware of your height and it's not a deal breaker, you're in. Nothing important changes with the height dynamic, which you can remind her of everytime you are in bed together :)

Bro this is like the equivalent of her writing "ask me out" in permanent marker on her forehead

You'll get a hundred different opinions on "what went wrong" but the truth is you're unlikely to ever know. I had this happen once and it bothered me more than it should have. It became even more confusing when she rematched with me 2-3x over the following year and would randomly unmatch after we started planning another date. I finally found my balls and blocked her after the last time, but I should have had the self respect to do that earlier. I know it won't feel like it, but her actions matt…

My view is that clear, confident communication is the winning move, even when things don't turn out. I'd rather someone know how I felt than try to play it cool and miss out as a result. She could be busy, she could be anxious about your interest level and moderating hers to match, she could be uncertain wanting to see you again, she could be who knows what. I'd ask her out on a date in a clear way. I'd make a reference to something cute/funny from when we first met to help remind her of the con…

This advice is so good and plainly spoken that it's unfortunate for the people who will ignore it.

Assuming the girls who told you this weren't parting ways with you (breakup, cutting off contact, etc) sounds a whole lot like they were telling you exactly what they wanted you to do to them.

This is why the common advice of "work on yourself first" is so valuable. In order to regularly pull high quality women into your life on a regular basis, you need to be a complete person. That doesn't mean that you need to be perfect - no one is - but you need to offer something of value. Some men have that easier than others right out of the gate (nearly everyone has a buddy who looks like a model who gets attention with much less effort), but the good news is that high quality people are made…

Looks like ~30% chance less, which is actually higher than I thought. Here's one for you - would you long term date a partner who had?

Ever since I deleted her on FB she's all of a sudden buddy buddy. Ain't that the truth. She would interrupt us telling the girl to head downstairs, girl would say "in a few", friend would remain, and I would say something like "We're having a good debate about X, what do you think?" and would get stonewalled. In retrospect, one of those situations where I would have gained some points by speaking to her firm but fair.

If its a dude who's orbiting just freeze him out. Im a pretty big dude and I've whispered "take a walk" in an orbiters ear before, he deserved it. Aggressive play but I respect it. Have you ever had the situation take a turn for the worse when you did that?

I'm in nearly the exact situation situation as you and plan on making it clear to her how I feel this week. I got out of a 1+ year relationship last November, which I would qualify as long term for me. I rode the feelings of infatuation in that relationship for at least 6-8 months before hitting the point where I made a conscious decision to be with that person once the initial "honeymoon" started to wear off. I can't speak for everyone's experience, but does your statement above re: "I'll be fi…

This is the right thing. Don't run from directly behind her, don't call after her, but do catch up and get in front (off to the side, not directly in her path) and turn around and say the above. You'll communicate pretty clearly what you're about in a non-threatening way.

Common law partners are bound by many of the same "contractual obligations" you speak of. Should we just avoid long term relationships altogether?

I know some will read this and think the advice is overly specific, but it is gold in my book. My current partner will now request I bring it along with me on outside dates and camping trips. Out of curiosity, what do you get with the rope that you don't get with the straps?

I respect the fact that people hold different ethics, but go practice on someone without a boyfriend. There's plenty around.

You have valid points but I'm curious how under 18 getalife992 would have felt about this post if it was coming from someone else. Age and "wisdom" often give us the sense that we can offer a prescription for the younger folks, when we forget that we would have never taken the same advice at that age. Live and let live, regardless of how many birthdays you've had.

I'm 28 and grew up with an ultra conservative religious family. You still put me to shame with the ignorance level of that comment. Unless it is sarcasm in which case you are master class.

I play this role at times with my girlfriend but with balance as we're partners, not just sub and dom. At what point does it become abusive for someone with low self esteem and approval seeking behavior?

Sounds good man. As last minute ideas to keep in mind: (1) In my experience, the best things typically happen the most naturally. If the resistance is constant, consider turning your attention to other options. (2) Social proof, social proof, social proof. Show this girl what she is missing with all the attention you are drawing from other sources.

Appreciate you commenting on me above and, based on what you've said, I think you and I would have some similar things to share over a beer. How you doing in the aftermath of it? PM works for me too.

This is the hardest part and what I needed to hear. I spent the last year with a gem of a woman and watched her get sick and then recover. I watched her hair and eyebrows fall out, watched the rounds of treatment and her spirit get beat up with unexpected illness. Gets me choked up to see pictures of her a few months back and think how much time/energy I spent trying to get her to smile or generate a bit of joy in her. We broke up a week ago after I put a lot of thought into the distinction betw…

The comments so far aren't addressing the fact you've laid out 3 good options for an initial approach. I'm biased because I follow a similar plan in my head, but when in doubt a really relatable "situational" comment can be gold. You're giving her an excuse to connect with something you both saw/felt/heard which makes her feel like you are on some unique secret team together.

I don't want to try to pop holes in your experience because if you feel good it obviously added some value to your life. That said, it sounds like he put you down and then had you lapping out of his hand after giving you some praise. It's incredibly presumptuous to think you know the hidden "authentic" self of a person after talking to them for a few minutes, especially when it comes from a "personal coach".

Sounds like you had a great week. Few questions for you: (1) Any feelings of being "burnt out" after 4 straight dates? It tires me out quick trying to be high energy and on while meeting people for a few nights in a row. (2) What's your tinder game like? Opening conversations are straightforward but I have a hard time moving to the phone number to setup a date.

You did everything that I would tell a good friend not to do and yet you've gotten something out of it that I would have never thought possible. Stopped me in my tracks and made me rethink a few things with this post. Good things your way in the next while man.

I appreciate the explanation as well as the sentiment. The simple matter is that I am looking to improve and if there's something to improve, I'm glad to be made aware of it.

You really hit the mark especially with the empathetic opener. There was a TED talk that made the rounds a few weeks ago re: the power of vulnerability and I think it dove tails well with what you said. When I realized that a great conversation isn't about me entertaining someone, but me making them feel safe and valued, I found that they started to happen much more easily. It feels so goddamned good for someone to ask you about something that matters to you and to do so judgement free.

Don't change a thing. This situation calls for a reverse-onus on the person in the relationship to say something. How else are you to know? If you think it's a shit test, call them on it: "OMG I was just talking about that yesterday with my bf" Smile "If you have a boyfriend, why have you been flirting with me all night?" If she sticks to the line, say a quick goodbye and leave. The world is difficult enough without all of us fucking each other over. Contrary to what all the depressed hedonists …

Was gonna be a dick about the laying-groundwork-while-committed thing, but if you are aware enough to know that it can happen again, you don't need to hear that from me. I avoid those situations simply because I don't deal well with my suspicion that karma will be on to me.
