You're right - I jumped to an inappropriate conclusion. However, I can't say that a humor-based comment joking about a woman asking someone who's penetrating her not to penetrate her / in a certain way, on a Mens Rights forum, reflects well on us as a community.

Wow, rape jokes on /r/MensRights. We don't need to get worse.

So which is it? It's neither. It's not always going to make someone a model citizen, nor is it going to have no effect. Maybe it will change the mind of just one or two people. Maybe it won't - who knows. There's no loss for me to ask. Because what you seem to be calling for and what you're doing here is tone policing. That's exactly right. My post means that making personal attacks, using slurs, will not help our cause. Yes, I am calling you a problem - and I mean no personal offense. I think I…

You're strawmanning, and you know it. I didn't say it would make everyone into model citizens, nor did I say that they wouldn't change their behavior. You are acting in the problem minority - your comments are saturated with derision and your tone is to offend. Please reconsider this - neither of them help our mutual cause.

that the problem minority won't change their behaviour because of it. I speak here to the problem minority. I didn't say that they wouldn't change their behavior because of it.

I didn't say that, but it will stop or slow people from perceiving the Mens' Rights Movement as illegitimate.

Ok! Act respectably. Don't be rude, even when someone's being rude to you. Try to empathize with the people you're talking to. Civil conduct is key.

I realize that it consciously doesn't acknowledge misandry, but that doesn't mean it's not better to be included, even as an afterthought.

It's black people's "job" to behave respectably. If they don't, it takes away from the perceived legitimacy of the black community, albeit by bigots, but a lot of what equality movements are is convincing bigots that you're reputable.

That's not at all what I said. I said that it's our job to prevent others from negatively viewing a group with which we associate based on our actions.

I don't dislike everyone in the sub. I, as a man, think that this sub is important for equal representation and am a self-described Men's Rights Activist. Saying that bad people will be bad people doesn't help the issue; educating others does. I didn't receive specific usernames to call out. I think it's noteworthy to mention that this is how we're viewed by others - the actions of a few paints a community.

The actions of the community don't necessarily reflect the actions of every member in a community. I didn't receive usernames of the harassers, and wouldn't post them if I did. I don't think it's unreasonable to note that the actions of some of us should change.

Their claim is enough. If you want proof, you can ask for it. Personally I'm not surprised and don't think proof is needed.

We all have them. Sorry I ruined your day. As an aside, when I click a link in your sidebar to the "LGBT FAQ," I get a 403 Forbidden error. Link

I've deleted my post here in an attempt to slow or lessen the amount of hate you've been getting. Again, sorry that occurred. It wasn't my intention.

I didn't know it at the time. They did change the sidebar though, so I guess we got that.

Their sidebar includes a "best-of" list of bigotries; I just suggested an additional one. They have misogyny. The moderators did edit the sidebar though.

I'm sorry; I meant to censor all names but forgot that in PMs it shows who I sent the message to. Is there any way I can deter the hate? I wish I could edit the image file.

Members of reddit would start a witchhunt over something like this. I don't think we should. I don't think that there should be hatred between these two equality movements.

To be fair, the moderators did edit the sidebar.

Gay men face far more prejudice and hatred than gay women. To be fair, on the other hand, gay men also receive a lot more support from the mainstream LGBT movement.

I think he's talking about his immediate environment, which makes sense. I wouldn't support something like a broad MRM in a heavily misogynistic place of the world.

Agreed. Not the majority, perhaps, but a lot. Funny, considering I'm queer.

I for one, am apathetic to LGBT cause. It is something that is blown out of proportion like feminism. Excuse me? It's still illegal in some places to be gay - not marry your partner, but to be gay. To say it's blown out of proportion is ridiculous.

Actually, in general the LGBT has been focusing much more on male gays than anything else. It's really GLbt /r/LBGT is not representative of the entire community.

I agree that they're justified not to have it, but considering they have misogyny, racism, and serophobia, I figured misandry had a place on their best-of-bigotries list. The user who replied rudely is a frequenter of ShitRedditSays.

Also social justice is not the way to go Men's Rights. I dunno. I think of myself as a Social Justice Activist (not Warrior) for other groups including the queer community (which I'm part of) and I think of Mens' Rights as a part of that. I think it's the most efficient way to gain legitimacy.

Female gang members in their teens are being pressured to have sex with boys as young as 10 to initiate males into gangs It's not as if those ten-year-olds are in control either.
