I'm sorry this happened to you. None of this is ok and (from what you've said) none of it is your fault.

I hear you, buddy. The reason my ex and I are divorcing is because she's finally admitted to herself that she's gay. We've been together since we were 16 and 18, that's 22 years and we are still best friends. Most people I see on the school run already know all about our divorce and the reasons behind it, so that's no problem. Luckily for us there was no lying, no cheating, nothing to spend our life savings arguing about in court. I hope it gets easier for you.

Who said she doesn't want those things? We've agreed on those things and that's all taken care of in our financial settlement, which is called a consent order and is submitted to the court along with our actual divorce application.

Dude. What is your goal here? I have said I'm not looking for legal advice. I have explained how the system in my country does not require me to submit a parenting plan to any court if I don't want to. I don't. I don't think I have lashed out at anyone. I was curious as to why you are so combative, so I checked out your YouTube. 'The Art of War'? That tells me everything I need to know about your view of things.

Again, that is not the case in the UK. https://www.gov.uk/looking-after-children-divorce The court will not rule on custody arrangements unless the divorcees ask them do.

My and ex trust eachother. We may be separated but we are family for life. Involving lawyers and signing rigid agreements about custody now would be a fast track way to ruining the mutual collaboration that we enjoy. It's basically saying 'I don't trust you to be a decent human being.' I have no need or desire to go down that road. Of course, if for some reason my ex becomes a terrible person a few years down the line and tries to prevent me from seeing the children, I'll lawyer up and take her …

Thanks for your consideration. But you all need to stop jumping to conclusions and making assumptions about my situation. At no point did I say I wanted 50/50 at the moment. My work schedule doesn't allow it right now. My STBXW is self employed and is far more able to manage school drop offs and pick ups than me, so our 35/65 split is the best thing for everyone now. I earn more than treble what my ex partner earns, so this balance means we are able to provide for the kids and co-parent in the b…

Then that's when the lawyers can get involved.

Erm, and alternatively I could do the same? What makes you think my ex has any protection from this sort of behaviour if I don't? Of course there's something you can do about it. No parent has any legal right to deny the other access to their children, so it would go to court if either party tried to pull that shit after the divorce. Why spend a shit load of money on lawyers and court fees if you don't need to? You can cross that bridge if and when it comes to it. Don't tell me I'm making a huge…

Not in the UK. No need to have any court ordered parenting plan of you both agree. https://www.gov.uk/looking-after-children-divorce/if-you-agree

There is no signed parenting plan. We aren't submitting one to the court. The only thing we are submitting is how our finances are being divided when we sell our home. There is no fight about custody.

Thanks but we won't be going to court. Our split of time is flexible and 35% will become 50% when we can make it work for all parties

Out of interest, what's forcing your hand to make you leave them for the job?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
