Who the fk has their gf and their ex linked up on social media?? I don't even have my ex. And then to allow your ex to demand anything? Good grief man.

Why are you meeting with both lawyers multiple times?? If you are working well together you should not need them except for paperwork. Sit together and draw everything up. Divide assets, figure out the parenting plan, travel with kids (give notice vs ask for permission - NEVER agree to asking, only giving notice), etc. After it's all hashed out THEN give it to your attorney to put into the settlement agreement and parenting plan. Then hers reviews it, asks any questions, submit. Done. We spent h…

Fix yourself first my dude. Gonna be tough on you here for a minute - others mentioned gym, travel, etc, and you shot each one down for one reason or another. Dont allow excuses, or anything, to hold you back. I worked out for several months with a torn shoulder, finding a way around it. I lifted the morning of my shoulder surgery (my doc loved it). The day I was allowed to start physical therapy and rehab I was on it 2x per day (rather than the 2-3x per week minimum) and rebounded quickly. You …

Legal fees weren't bad, but all in.... Legal was maybe $7k. Uncontested, very amicable. All in? Split assets, buy outs, taxes, etc... a few hundred thousand. My income tax alone was an additional $65k the year we finalized, having to go back and pay the higher, single rate from Jan 1.

I don't remember where the quote is from, but it's spot on. No level of hot is worth putting up with shit. Let the next poor sucker deal with her and thank him for getting her out of your hair. If all you are worried about is looks and (nonexistent) sex, you absolutely need out. "No matter how hot she is, someone, somewhere is tired of putting up with her shit"

A home is warm and loving, a living thing. You have a family house. The kids are not seeing and learning what a healthy relationship is. They are seeing two people surviving around each other and coparenting. If you would not want your kids in that kind of marriage, don't let them see you in it. I was in the same boat as you, I planned to "stick it out" to not "mess up their home". We are all so much better since I decided to pull the plug. I am so much less stressed and a better father because …

Absolutely! Married almost 10 years, I'm the one who initiated. I knew I'd be happier alone than still stuck and miserable daily. It's been great. Not all roses, definitely some tough spots, but I've met some great women and have been dating someone amazing for the last year. Wish I'd bailed sooner. Have fun, stay fit, be confident. Guys with their shit really together aren't as common as you'd think, so if you have yours on point you will do great. If you don't, get it there first and then star…

I wish more men were taught this. I initiated the divorce for my own reasons, but never had problems like these I read about so often. We never fought about money, spending, activities, hobbies, etc. I was catching up with a close friend who recently got married. He asked me for advice as he was already getting some push back on things he wanted to do, while she was doing things he didnt like. I told him very bluntly - Do not ever ask her for permission. Don't do something stupid or that puts yo…

This is why I didn't tell anyone but a couple close friends until it was over and done. No support on my end through the process, but also no outside opinions or anyone trying to sway me one way or the other. I got it done quietly and am so happy I did. Yours may be able to be salvaged - if she is actually willing to make major changes and stick with them - but only you know if she could or if it would be worth it even if she did. I was in a similar spot and knew that mine never would, definitel…

My dude I refused to put up with the same situation at 40. In my 20s? Not a chance! Even with kids and many more years together I'd still say fix it or get out; at 24 and no kids there is absolutely no excuse to be in a cold relationship like that. You have nowhere but up to go. And yes, life is so much better now.

This. Just laugh and walk away until they start from a reasonable point. And then hold the line at 50/50. That's the law and they have no reasonable justification asking for a dime more.

You'll be fine. I have 50/50 on a 2-2-3 schedule and travel every week for work. I used to travel 2-3 days per week, but have cut it back to day trips or an overnight when necessary, and try to travel on days I don't have the kids. Otherwise we just swap a day/night before or after the trip to keep it as even as possible.

No need to apologize, easy mistake to make. Your ex sounds like an ass and like he is trying to use you. Cut contact and keep moving on. Good luck!

I don't disagree at all. I am sorry yours pulled a 180 on you and only seemed to he around for the lifestyle. That is very different from what the OP and I faced (albeit opposite sides of the coin). It wasn't about income, it was about having a partner who put their all into anything they did. Kids, house, themselves, anything... no hesitation no excuses, get it done. Feeling like you're dragging an adult along rather than being shoulder to shoulder taking on every day as a team.

Keep at it dude. And again, for you not for her. Just keep at it. Respect and appreciation are earned not given, but if earned they better be there. Don't sell yourself short.

Definitely good steps. So my next tough question - what is different? What has changed daily? What results are tangible from the work you've been doing? My ex kept saying the same thing, month after month, year after year. "I'm working on it." "I'm trying." Zero results. Not a damn thing. If you are seeing actual results, keep at it. If not, step it up. She may see the improvement and respond or it may be too late, but don't give up on you. Continue to improve you for you, and you will be in a b…

Very sorry you are going through this. I don't think she is cheating, I think she is worn out. Harsh and direct, but here we go... based on what I interpret from your comments your wife is like me. I bust my ass, I don't hesitate, I get it done no matter what is in my way. I refuse to be held back. I was (still am) the bread winner, took care of the house/yard/pool/cars/kids sports/activities/dogs/everything, while traveling weekly and working my ass off. I don't care how bad or stressful it get…

"Even if she is different from the rest, when problems arise, who's she going to turn to for advice? Yes, all the rest of them. It will not be you." This is what changed my ex and ultimately killed our marriage. She was amazing, different, made no excuses and let nothing get in her way. After having our first she surrounded herself with women who complained about everything and did nothing. I watched her become someone else and tried so many times to get her away from the negativity and mindset.…

Hang in dude, you got this. You're still young and have a ton of runway ahead of you. Lots of guys starting over in their 30s, 40s, 50s, fighting through, and finding their best tines ever. It takes work cuz it's worth it, and you are too. Stay strong. Vent here when needed. You got this.

Work out! I've always been in pretty good shape, but got back to more regular workouts and eating better, and haven't been this fit since my early 20s. I feel awesome, and the compliments are fun too. I've also been making sure to connect more often with close friends that I "didn't have as much time to" the last several years. Take time to focus on you, what makes you feel good all around.
