Also, there's Israel where girls are being drafted and it doesn't look like this is crippling their society in any way - on the contrary this creates a feeling of unity and camaraderie many Western societies lack today. I guess my main problem is that my mind is always looking for patterns in the behaviours of others, and I try to compensate my lack of social exposure with weird theories which supposedly 'explain' why people act the way they do.
