"I know it's not all about sex and attractiveness but tell me there will be hotter sex and attractiveness in my future, guys. Right?" If this is where your head is at then you're really going to struggle when you start thinking of that 9/10 doing with strangers what she wouldn't even entertain talking about doing with you. Focus on yourself. Solve for your own happiness. Do your best not to play the "what if" game. It's no good for your head or heart In the long run. It does get better with time…

Yeah, I’ll take my last name back. It's actually not up to you. Not in the slightest. Divorce is hard. But it's also the best thing to happen to some people even though many of us don't see that until we're through the pain and embarrassment and all the other baggage that comes with that. Deep breaths, dude. This is a silly (and lazy) fight to pick. Focus on what matters and really is important and work on yourself. Because after a tough divorce, we all need a little work.

Ah, yes. So anyone else out there with your last name is clearly impacting your reputation. If only your reputation were completely up to your own actions. If only what you said and did determine how you were perceived vs what other people said or did. /s C'mon... if you really sit down and think about it, without any ego, you'll realize that someone else's actions only reflect on someone else. It's our ego that makes us think otherwise. Free yourself, dude. The death of your ego might be one of…

One might ask how it was reasonable that you were expected to change it in the first place. I'm re-married now but in my first marriage we were very young and the last name issue was important to me. Looking back now, it was such an asshole and egotistical thing to draw a line in the sand about. And I get it... culture, religion, etc. - pick a reason that guys think it's important. But it's not. It's really not. I have told both of my daughters that they can obviously do whatever they feel comfo…

Just wait until your 50's, my friend.

I don't care, either way. What I do mind is that I was an asshole in my 20's about her taking my name. Looking back, that's such a stupid thing to push a partner to do.

That you're asking this compels me to urge you not to try and hide a single nickel. It's just not going to be worth it if you do and it's discovered. Even documents you "accidentally" forgot to present can become a real problem for you. IANAL, but you def want the help of an attorney and there are a number of ways you can cut this. If the divorce is amicable then I suspect the two of you can come up with something that is fair regarding one of you keeping the business while paying out the other,…

Seems like most women today are huge narcissists... That's not a gender thing, that's just humans today in this "look at me" culture we've created. I say this with peace and love, guys... the more I check back in here to connect and follow up, the more it seems we have this "us vs them" cancer growing. We're grown ups - let's act that way and stop spreading the toxic masculinity that is blaming an entire gender or stereotyping an entire gender for one asshole in our lives, please. Both genders a…

Hey mods - how about removing and perm banning red pill shit like this? It's not healthy for anyone and is certainly off-topic for the entire sub.

This is just pathetic. I'm hopeful that you'll look back at this in a few years when you've matured and actually started living a full life and decide to put out an apology video for spewing this ridiculous crap. Is marriage for everyone? No. But damn... this is just red pill garbage from a place of ignorance, if not also pain. Move along, gents. Nothing to see here.

It's this, it's so much this. PLEASE start talking now and decide TOGETHER if this just isn't what you want or if there is just some massive miscommunication happening. Without any history or details, my experience is that you need to address this head-on and talk about why there's been a sudden shift so fast and so early in your marriage. You could have said something accidentally that cut to the bone and closed her down - and you have no idea. Your behavior may have changed and you don't even …

I suspect this is MUCH more the truth for many than the garbage OP is spreading. Everyone's experience is different and their own, but you've done a nice job of stepping back and being objective after going through that. Hat tip to you, sir.

At this point I just feel sorry for you if this is really the way you see the world. You need to talk to a counselor, brother. You've got some serious issues with how you're looking at humanity and chaulking it up as fact because you may have found some group-think somewhere. Please - for the benefit of you and your future (both personal AND professional) get some help and talk this through with someone other than the internet or others who just nod in agreement because they've been hurt, too.

Yes, you've got me. As someone who has supposedly built their entire reddit persona around an unfortunate heartbreak, you are definitely a source of facts and infinite wisdom to be trusted and taken seriously. /s, in case you didn't pick up on that. You're neither a true philosopher nor an authority on humanity or gender studies from what I can tell, no matter how much better this crap you're pedaling makes YOU (temporarily) feel. Got cheated on? Mad about it? Hurting like hell after all this ti…

I get that when we're hurting, we try to rationalize things. Sometimes in doing so, we distort reality or re-invent the truth to hide or recover from our pain. Other times, we dig in and listen to piles of horseshit like this.

In reading your response, you admittedly share that it does get better. It does get easier. You do heal - when you let yourself heal. It just takes a different amount of time for each of us. Respect. It's not easy. And we all heal differently. Cheers, brother.

A very real red flag but I don't think it's the same potential issue as what you responded to.

Brother, you have so many things going on here... And I don't know you, but there are a couple of flags here in this response alone that say to me you may have more of a hand in the relationship challenges that you realize. But I assure you - it's categorically NOT a gender versus gender issue or how "women are raised in comparison to how men are raised". And candidly - sometimes shit just breaks, my man. Sometimes people just don't work out. One of the hardest lessons I had to learn was that th…

I'm glad to hear you are optimistic in the face of challenges and working on yourself. We should always be working on ourselves. Fwiw, I left my marriage with nothing but my clothes. Literally. No possessions, no money in savings, nothing. I started over in every way. And looking back, I'm so glad that I did. I needed the reset. You said "rage" and I'd encourage you to look into that and maybe get someone to talk to. Rage isn't normal and it isn't healthy and in my experience it will always work…

It will get better, trust me. I've been there, although not as extreme a situation or breakup as you are going through. My $0.02, fwiw... Be careful not to self medicate Watch for triggers - when you are feeling low or it starts to feel overwhelming, think about what triggered you. Sad movie, music alone at night, a particular friend, etc.. and then cut that shit out. Find some way to invest in yourself ASAP. It might be books, it might be online free workout programs, it might be learning guita…

What a sad and complete pile of horseshit. I get that you're sad and hurt, but this is the type of misogynistic garbage that simply sows poison. For whatever reason, your marriage (and mine) just didn't work. Her fault, your fault, nobody's fault - that's not the issue. What you should focus on doing is talking to someone and, in a healthy way, working on yourself and not excuses that bash an entire gender for your failed relationship. It doesn't mean your next relationship needs to be, or gods …

While I think every situation is different, especially if there are young children involved, I would recommend Wevorce. I just finished my divorce (was official Monday) and we used them. It cost ~$1000 and is VERY easy to go through and is reviewed (with recommendations or "watchouts" given) by lawyers. I suspect that it saved us thousands in legal fees on both sides. Good luck to you both.
