The sidebar. Keys to the Kingdom is a favourite of mine.

Not quite rpw theme but an excellent book. Very junging on the feminine archetype. Those not accustomed to Jung may find it frustrating and too much story. Those familiar will appreciate the mythology.

I want to address the comments on faking. You mentioned that faking doesn't feel right to you. You also mentioned that everyone should be treated with kindness. These two ideas come together and clash. Should I fake a kindness to someone who I don't feel like being kind to? Should others treat me with a fake kindness if they don't want to be kind to me, or feel I deserve the kindness in this moment? My answers is no. No one should be faking. Ideally there's no fakery as truth makes a better worl…

It's not self-punishment. It's a positive thing to learn the lesson. It just takes time to be with it and be compassionate towards yourself and let the lesson land home.

That stupid feeling is your learning of the lesson. You don't want to stop feeling that, because then you would be likely to make the same mistakes. Instead you should deeply feel the stupid feelings and wait with it until the feeling naturally passes and you will ha e learned not to make the same mistakes.

It is hard to say much without knowing more about the two people involved. Sounds like you notice he's not great at regulating his emotional frustration when he is in difficulty situations and frustrated himself and you'd like him to work on not taking it out on you when that happens. You'd like to be on his side and support him but it's hard to do when you receive the brunt of the action. He may not even realise that he's letting his frustration out on you. To him it may be passionate frustrati…

Well if he snapped, that's not kind. Do you think you were approaching this with the right attitude as well? Positive, patient, generous, kind, supportive? You get to work on your side of the situation and work with his side. You can't force him to change. If he's snapping, you can show him how you feel when that happens and also talk about what you want instead. Make this a communication process not a blame process.

Do you want to be his mother? No. Learn to enjoy his struggle. Mistakes are not made on purpose that's why they are called mistakes. Did he make a mistake or did he do it on purpose? If it was a mistake, then it's just a mistake. Make your peace with errors.

Enjoy him being wrong. Do what you need to do to feel complete - say what you need to say, then let him be wrong, but enjoy his choices. I'd suggest the book - parent effectiveness training. In the book it has a model of argument that describes steamrolling (pushing too hard for your side) and caving (collapsing your side). Doing neither and staying at the conflict is a difficult and nuanced skill that many people could stand to learn. You can stay at the conflict without caving or bulldozing an…

How would you describe the change for yourself in your own words? Maybe things like, "I'm trying to see the positives more in life" or "I'm working on paying attention to where I leave my attention". Many ways to say it. I disagree with the book approach of keeping the book a secret. But each person needs to draw their own conclusions. I believe a good relationship culture is built on honesty and openness.

The things you have done that are you being sexy are being received as beautiful. Can you try lean towards more sex appeal not beauty? The feminine side of sexuality is to be receptive. Are you open to receiving?

That's great that you are trying things. You can try read a book like, "come as you are" and work on enjoying and expressing your sexuality in a healthy way for yourself. If he's picking up beautiful then he isn't getting the right signals for him from you. Maybe you can experiment with figuring out which signal is sexy to him. Ideas might include smells, nudity, innocence, creative Eros, power... People find all kinds of things sexy. Try to find his thing.

Suggestion: check whether you feel sexy on a daily time scale. Do you, to yourself feel like a healthy, happy sexual being in a way that he might witness you being sexy in your own experience. Yes it helps if he pursues you as a sexual being but it also helps if you can on your side feel sexy and move through the world enjoying being a sexual being. This may include avoiding expectations for what he might do. You can work on your own side of being a sexual being who is open to being at least lig…

Remind him that he is a people too. He deserves to be taken care of my himself too. People forget this.

Think about how you have felt through the negotiation process (broken car, coffee date is too boring, picnic makes you uncomfortable) and how you have had to work out what to do about all these details.. Do you want to live a life where you are constantly in the figuring out of all these or other details. How do you feel in this process? Is this how you want to keep feeling. How did you get here? In the place of all these doubts and confusions and self questions.

I imagine this is a bit of a culture shock. Maybe ease into it. Bridge the gap and gradually shift to the new culture.

People universally are drawn to what makes them feel good. If you can deliver good feelings without the noise or the drama or the hoops, or the transactional drama, people will be drawn to you. What would make a person say to you, "I don't know why but I keep wanting to spend more time around you". For the aloof and nervous problem, I would encourage you to be present with your emotional experience as it's happening. Feel the pain of it more deeply. This will slow you down and draw people in to …

Set yourself a timer for an hour and plan to do nothing but feel the feeling and sit with the emotion in the way it needs to be sat with. After you have done that, come back and report what you have learned about it. We have a habit of keeping our distance from our pain and that makes it hurt more. When you go towards it, it's never as bad as you think. It's bad but you can handle it. And make peace with it.

Think of yourself and the relationship with the other person like a Venn diagram. Bickering is often causes by people crossing into the other person's territory. For example if my partner says something that I say is rude, I'm policing the shared experience and trying to have it my way. Maybe they find that humerous or important to say. Ideally I want to honour myself and my preferences and themselves and their preferences. Some relationships have spice and interesting dynamics created by the in…

Yes. It does sound like you both lack the language around this and need to be gentle and kind to each other when piecing it together. You like each other and want things to keep going and keep getting more serious? Say that.

You intend to grow closer to him, then you intend to feel more confident in wanting to get married etc. You probably also intend to complete your studies and not see other people during this time.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
