Both men and women play the same number of sets throughout the vast majority of the season. It's true that there's equal pay at the four Grand Slam events despite men playing more sets, but those events take up a grand total of 8 weeks of the season, leaving 40+ where they're both playing the same number of sets. I mean, the documents are pretty damning and essentially have him admitting to rape. I'd be surprised if charges end up being brought against him because they did have a type of civil settlement and it happened years ago, but it should damage his reputation and perhaps cost him some business deals even if I consider him to be the greatest soccer player in the world right now.

Why would you push anyone into dying fields like mining or fishing? There should be more effort to get men into fields like nursing and teaching, I agree, there's not no effort, though. And the biggest problem with attracting men to those fields is probably pay more than anything else.

The point here is that the tech industry has trouble getting girls interested in and working in the field. It doesn't have any such trouble attracting boys (as a boy... man now, who works in IT, this is a clear issue) It's kind of like being mad that 'Black Lives Matter' isn't called 'All Lives Matter'.

Perhaps you're thinking of affirmative action in college admissions, and depending on the school, it's possible that a woman or a ethnic minority might be able to get in with a lower SAT score than, say, a white male, but these schools are of course not only focusing on test scores in their admission process.

The 65 women who signed a letter supporting Kavanaugh weren’t at the party or in a position to know if he assaulted Ford or not. These aren't really 'public holidays'. But anyway, I've always seen schools and groups around here trying to get men into teaching and nursing. I suspect they don't have much success because those fields just don't pay all that well and not because the people in those fields are anti-men.

It's not an hourly wage. It's prize money and based on lots of other factors. Men also tend to be paid far more at other joint ATP/WTA events where both men and women play best-of-3 sets. Equal prize money is a rarity still (it's often even starker at the separate ATP and WTA events, where women get less despite often drawing larger crowds, but that's on the WTA to get more money in their deals with organizers and sponsors)

The thing is, men aren’t generating more revenue (or TV ratings) on a consistent basis. Sometimes they are, but sometimes the women are. I doubt the men’s final right now is going to draw as many viewers as the women’s final yesterday, just like last year’s US Open women’s final or this year’s Wimbledon drew more viewers than the men.

Sign their body over for what, exactly? The only thing that happens after signing up is that you can vote and qualify for some assistance programs. In a theoretical world where military conscription and a draft happens, the government is just going to use some other list (Social Security seems the most obvious) and draft men and women. Again, it’s an antiquated law that Congress should get rid of, but hasn’t negatively impacted me or any other man in >45 years.

I said the draft was no longer a thing and it isn't. The Selective Service System is a way of compiling a list for a potential draft, but hardly the only list that could be used. And certainly wouldn't be the list used in an age where women are now allowed to serve in combat positions.

As it says, there hasn't been a draft since 1973 and the chances of there ever being one in the future is essentially nil. Hence, no real effort to add the requirement that similarly-aged women register for selective service. It's a waste of time,but women would surely be drafted if a draft did actually happen (not that hard to compile a list of women 18-25 years old through lots of other things).

This is true, though only for the four grand slam events and the Gold medal match at the Olympics. Every other tournament, they both play best-of-3. But that's more due to the organizers of the events, women players have said countless times they'd be willing to do 5 sets. And, of course, many men have been pushing for 3 sets in the grand slam events for a while now due to all the health issues of late.

It's not like they consistently put in more 'effort' or 'time'. The women's 2005 Wimbledon final was 45 minutes longer than the men's and I doubt any of the people complaining about equal prize money now complained that Federer got more money than Venus Williams then. Women get equal prize money at these events because they're an equal (or better for many recent years) draw in terms of fans and TV ratings and revenue.
