You for sure won’t be 325 in six weeks. No way in hell. You just don’t have it in you after all this time.

I’m so out of my league. Why did you write this? Do you not feel like you deserve to fuck these women?

Why are you only sleeping 5 hours a night? You’ve been trying to get down from 350+ lbs for months now, and this isn’t something you’ve thought to fix yet? Why?

Taking weight off the bar to ‘ease fear’ is the dumbest thing I’ve heard. That’s giving in to the fear. How the fuck is lowering the weight going to help you stop the ‘fear of doing hard work’? That makes no sense. The only thing that’s gonna curb your fear is changing your own mental models, not changing external factors like deloading. You’re going to be just as afraid of the weight next time you reach the same level. Until you fix your mind you will never be truly strong either in the gym or …

How are you drinking even a single drink during the week still? You already admitted to using alcohol to drown certain pains, why isn’t quitting outright your most important goal? Right now it’s the very last item, like a footnote, in your OYS. Is this really who you want to be?

Your wife is thinks it’s okay to hit you. No matter her mood, emotions or ‘beserk’ mode, she ultimately knows you are the type of man to let her hit you. What does that say about you?

How do you lurk here for 10 years and then go and respond like this to the first ever so minor pushback? No wonder your wife gave you ILYBINILWY. Might as well just give up now dude.

You were alone for almost a full week so you decide to NOT work out? What the hell, dude? Also, do you hate your wife? From these interactions it doesn’t sound like you’re in your frame, it just sounds like you’re an asshole to her honestly.

Yes. Do the therapy and keep going. And don’t hide anything. There’s something inside you that needs unveiling is my guess. So shed that light. But don’t use it as an excuse to become a victim or not do all the other work afterwards. Make it known and rest assured that now you are at least aware. Then, or at the same time, lose 150 pounds for Christ’s sake man.

You’re welcome. You have an ego to kill, and the fight won’t be easy. But it can be done with discipline, hard work and less words - in your brain and from your mouth. It only really happened to me once I learned that I couldn’t think, talk or rationalize my way to a better life. It can only be done.
/r/MarriedRedPill30/08/24 04:13 AM

You’re an alcoholic. Think about that. Alcohol controls your life and you are rationalizing it away. You’re an alcohol. The sooner you realize that the better.

You aren’t getting it. You think you’ll go places because you ‘started at square one’ again. Like the knowledge and the right words will help you. You haven’t changed your mindset for shit and before you do, you won’t go anywhere.

Don’t have kids with this woman. Kids are very much a ‘I reeeeaaally want this”-thing, and even then, no one knows what they’re really getting into when having them. It won’t end well at all if she doesn’t even want to bear a child much less birth and raise it.

Imagine how much other shit he’s lying to himself about when he can’t even be honest about some numbers on a page.
/r/MarriedRedPill20/03/24 07:35 AM
2

Talking shit about your character and name calling is definitely disrespect, and it’s quite telling about your headspace and mental point of origin that you need to ask strangers on the internet what your boundaries are or should be.
/r/MarriedRedPill20/03/24 07:29 AM
1

Why are you posting old lifts? Too much ego to own your current numbers? No one cares what you lifted before when you were much heavier dude, get a grip.
/r/MarriedRedPill15/03/24 06:06 PM
3

It’s so painfully clear that you will never be strong or jacked. Afraid of pain and using it as an excuse. Switching programs constantly. Talk of ‘functional’ exercise. Hamstering away in general instead of just lifting progressively heavier weights and eating to support it. All the signs are there that you won’t ever be strong.

Since we are from the same country, I’m very interested in what this mysterious craft is that your ego is telling you you MIGHT could maybe make money of when seemingly no one else can?
/r/MarriedRedPill13/02/24 06:37 PM
3

What is it about your legs that makes you think you can/should go about lifting differently? Your whole segment on it reads like you have a massive ego problem as well as a fear of doing hard shit (which putting on muscle is). Do you think you’re special or something? You’re not, and the sooner you realize that the sooner you will start making progress.
/r/MarriedRedPill13/02/24 06:10 PM
4

This is some good discipline you’re showing with regards to passing tests and remembering the basics when you’re met with resistance. I wish you would do the same when it comes to lifting. Changing programs that work because you think they’re boring and hinging your progress on gym being new and exciting isn’t showing discipline. Keep pushing, motherfucker!

incorporating dirty talk... feel too self-conscious... have to use my brain a bit here. Read Sex God Method again. This is exactly what you DON'T want to do. You need to just say shit that comes to your mind, that you can feel turns you on. I'll bet you are scared of her reaction.
/r/MarriedRedPill06/02/24 01:57 PM
4

I’ll bet it’s not even an injury but just some expected, normal strained pain from lifting ‘heavy’ (relative to him) and the dude is just using it as an excuse to stay at low weights. I see it all the time. Unless you’re waking up at night in pain or it is really, actually hurting like shit when you use the shoulder, just take it and push yourself. EDIT: OP, read this: Something Always Hurts
/r/MarriedRedPill06/02/24 11:54 AM
3

A lot of guys get stuck ‘focused on form’ and never push themselves and actually get stronger. Obviously don’t injure yourself, but you’re not in any danger getting seriously hurt by ‘bad form’ deadlifting the fucking bar and two 2.5kg plates. You gotta build. Don’t be scared and start lifting for real.
/r/MarriedRedPill31/01/24 11:38 AM
1

That depends a lot on his lifts I would say. Disagree that he necessarily needs to lose weight at that height and weight. If he has a 1200 total, then yeah, maybe. But you know he doesn’t because he doesn’t have the guts to post them.

Post your lifts. I have a feeling you are hiding behind ‘focus on weight loss’ and ‘correcting form’. Why don’t you want to get stronger or bigger?
/r/MarriedRedPill24/01/24 03:31 PM
2

The fact that he is commited only to ‘maintain weight’ and ‘correct form’ tells you everything. Dude is so scared of failure he isn’t even aiming to get stronger in the gym. Go figure.

He’s trying to find out if you suffer from good lover validation. I was like that and it really obstructed the path to both of us having a better time during sex - hyper focused on the fact that I couldn’t make her cum during PIV which hindered my own pleasure thus making the sex worse overall.
/r/MarriedRedPill14/12/23 06:00 PM
1

Why are you hiding whatever this trauma is? You wrote that you are able to be more vulnerable about it but you’re afraid of what internet strangers might think about it? Or maybe you’re embarrassed? It’s telling that this is something you’re avoiding yet you attribute a lot of your (lack of) progress to it.
/r/MarriedRedPill14/12/23 05:56 PM
3

Wrong. You can’t leave whenever you want because you are addicted to your wife’s validation. You don’t love or respect yourself and so you’re scared to be alone. That would be my guess as to why you’re staying.

That's a fair point. Lingering on the past and excusing your being shit with a bad childhood is weak and gets you nowhere, I get that.
/r/MarriedRedPill27/09/23 06:27 AM

This is good and exactly what I was thinking reading this OYS. You are using outside validation and status symbols to fill up a hole inside of you. Now that you see this for what it is, what are you going to do about it?

My goal is to start the SL 5x5 program. How can starting a lifting program be a fucking goal? Just do it. Do that which you want to become instead of postponing because of lame excuses. Start the program, find gyms when traveling and continue the program. Stop thinking about doing things and do them.

3: I have an everpresent feeling of loneliness. I cannot figure out if it is ok /normal to feel this way, or if it is something I should try to fight/navigate away from. Is it a “normal” state of mind for a man to feel lonely and therefore I should embrace it? Or is this a feeling that is not a normal state of mind? Very interested in input on this. Still an awful lot of talk about your wife, her reactions, and mostly her view of the marriage (what's yours?!). But I have to hand it to you, you really did something this week. Good work. Unfortunately, you would have to travel over 5000 miles to find this guy, and I can't even speak to his proficiency in English ;) I see what you mean about the state of therapy right now, but if you vet properly and assert your needs (see what I did?) in the sessions themselves, you might find it useful.

I actually got lucky with him. All I knew was I wanted a man and that I would vet possible candidates. He was the first guy I saw (apart from our couples’ therapist), and he tore into me immediately. I’ve never been so throughly taken apart in a conversation before. He identified my nice guy stuff (he didn’t even know about the book or Dr Glover) right of the bat and called out that I was even trying to impress HIM for validation within 10 minutes of the first session. It was wild. He was much l…

This very much mirrors my story. 6 months affair, full voluntary disclosure by me (including almost all the sexual details - this is important), decided to use it for personal growth and a pivot to being a strong man instead of a weak, validation-seeking cheater (my reasons for doing it were the exact same as yours). I was... lucky I guess? in the sense that what my wife very quickly after disclosure overtly stated that she wanted me to be strong, assertive and... masculine if our marriage was t…

This happened to me too when I came clean about a similar affair. I didn't hold frame as well as OP supposedly did, but our sex life was the most intense it had ever been in the immediate aftermath of the disclosure. What he is not saying is that hysterical bonding can and does happen almost no matter the attractiveness of the man. Look at this guy, out here actually trying and doing things. Keep pushing, man. If you’re worried about form and need some pushing regarding your lift, submit some form check videos to the starting strength forum. You’ll get quick feedback free from bullshit over there.

You’re not getting his point here. He’s saying you need to find out WHY you ‘question why the hell you try hard’ and WHY you need the external validation to feel good/satiated/fulfilled. Fixing the symptoms is fine and I think you’re thinking it’s better to just act. While that’s true it can be beneficial to look at what the roots of your low self worth is, you might get there faster in that case. I won’t pretend to think I’m even close to being my own mental point of origin yet, but some intros…

This is some good ownership. I’m curious as to how you’re actually going to accomplish what you want. How are you going to focus on yourself? You need to try some things. Say no to her. I have communicated over and over again in a variety of ways that I am not needy at all, but intimacy, physical touch is something I do need. I'm guessing you have the same mentality toward other areas of your life. Let's see... ... We're both probably too busy to actualize our ambition, but... I know how to plan for this, I just need to make it happen... ... There were people around who provided the surveillance anyway, and I never had to grow up and get over it. Ah,…

Thanks for the input. I haven't actually consciously determined whether I'm cutting or bulking, or rather, I'm not too concerned with it. But if I look at what I'm actually doing, I'm eating a ton of food, without being too worried about bodyfat, so as to drive up my lifts. So I guess that constitutes bulking.

Thanks for the advice. I think you are right. I have always had the same approach to my career: Focus on a single job and then when needed start researching/applying for/interviewing for new jobs. Oneitis for work, you could call it. I like your approach, it is congruent with abundance mentality. I usually always tailor my resume to each individual job I apply for, so that I can draw out what past positions have taught me that specifically makes me a fit for the new thing. I find this works well…

Even when I STFU, I catch myself thinking approval related thoughts. Though I think I've been going at it a bit wrong. Rather than stifle all need of approval, I should just reroute it to asking myself if I approve of it. This sounds like weird mental gymnastics, but I won't complain if it works. I don't think this is weird at all. This is what I am doing as well. Slowly, I can feel it happening automatically where the self-approval just exists at all times.

Then I left. While I like that you actually enforced your boundary, I'm not sure that you leaving the house (and your son) was the right move. Had you established that you would leave if she did weed around your son way back when? Is the house hers? If you end up divorcing, it's not a good look that you left. Why not pack her stuff and tell her you expect her to move out for a week (at least) until she gets her shit in order? You can't lead the household from you vision and standards if you just…

For real. As soon as the words left my mouth I knew what was happening and I managed to end the sentence with a laugh, at the very least signaling that I knew it was a joke. Next step will be realizing it happening instantaneously and using it as fodder for flirting. Just thinking about how many times this happened before where I was butthurt over it, I can see how it is insanely unattractive.

There is nothing wrong with having goals or a mission. On the contrary. If you didn't you would be lost. The danger lies in being motivated by certain outcomes, especially those that require a change in other people, that come from reaching said goals. Like Horns said, it's discipline that makes it all happen, and discipline requires a sort of detachment from the outcome. That's why identifying and eliminating covert contracts is so important. I don't know if that makes sense, but that's how I s…

I agree, the goals are much better now. I see what you mean about making it 405, and that would mean adding one more plate to my max in 6 months, which should be doable. I will keep the 2.5xBW goal for now though and readjust in the fall. Yeah, NMMNG is definitely the core book for many of us here. This time, I think I will actually get a physical copy instead of reading it digitally or listening to it.

How had your reacted if you had followed your first instinct when she was showing guilt in that situation? How would you do it if it happened again today? Do you think it's possible to both show compassion and let her know this is unacceptable and a boundary for you at the same time?

I can understand the doxxing part. No need to do stupid shit at this point. I think, though, that the doing must come before the acceptance in your case. Break ups hurt like hell, and I can't say that I wouldn't be devastated if I were to get divorced from my wife no matter the circumstances. But maybe you need to go through with stuff, hurt and mourn, and then comes acceptance later on?

I liked this OYS. The stuff about acommodating your wife and fixing her problems (and letting her family issues seep into your life) while covertly expecting rewards from it resonated with me. I think there’s value in resetting and continue leading with regards to the vacation(s). But like you said, letting her figure out how she can get to go with an awesome man and have fun instead of what happened here.

He also isn’t really taking the most pertinent advice from here and doesn’t answer pretty basic questions. My guess is he won’t go through with it at all.

I agree that there's a strong correlation between quality of the mission statement and ditto of the man in question. Cause and effect can be hard to determine there, but for me, the statement helps me to focus on the important shit in both the daily work and in my OYS. Even then, just going 'welp, I know I should define one but I can't really right now' is just fence sitting. Do it or don't.

Mission - Still working on defining this. Well, give it a try, maybe? People here will give you feedback and notes and that should help you define it. Holding your thoughts back on it because it might not be "good enough" won't work.

I get this feeling you need motivation to reach your goals. Meaning, you're eyeing the 'next step' to motivate you to do the work. Which I believe is the sure-fire way to set up covert contracts. Discipline, on the other hand beats motivation any day. The work is the point in and of itself. I find I see more progress when I focus on the present and very near future. Zone of Proximal Development and all that shit. EDIT: Alright just noticed Horns already said the exact same...

Thanks for the feedback, both this week and last. I am liking 5/3/1 for the reasons you mentioned and I started with a reasonably low TM, low enough that I can do joker sets on every lift every day still (just entered my 3rd cycle). I have been guilty of program hopping and more generally a grass-is-greener mentality before, so I should stay the course if it works, you’re right.

Yeah I’m doing the BBB template. I always leave at least 1 rep and if I feel like I could have done at least 2-3 more, I use the Joker sets Jim talks about in the newer books. I walk a lot yeah, mostly because my 2mo sleeps in a stroller and I walk around with it almost every day. I don’t do enough conditioning though, that’s for sure.

Yeah, I follow you on the baby vs sex stuff. I’m patient while acknowledging that I can do better later on. Frequency pre baby wasn’t where I wanted it and it comes down to me being too unattractive and failing on initiations. Affair went on for six months and ended a little over 2 years ago. No contact with the woman since. I sometimes miss the sex but not a whole lot, and a lot of good has come of the fallout. There’s some constant dread going on because of it. On the other hand, the BP way I …

Type 1. I felt more and more powerless when it came to making decisions as our life together and family grew because basically I was the Nice Guy whose life just happened to him. Always deferred to wife on decisions and thought she, and therefore we, would be happier if only she got to decide. She never wanted to be captain and actually has often asked me to lead more. I fucked that up by not doing it because it, surprise, always means conflict (which I now realize is a good thing). Basic BP stu…
