A lot of people will be too emotionally invested in the headline, and not read that the accusation is still standing, or that a 13 year old girl was raped and how that would affect someone in their life. ITT they will want "justice" and instead of getting angry at a system that allowed this sentencing from a testimony alone, they get angry at the person instead.
