Thanks for your contribution. Unfortunately, America is withholding ammunition because of our conservative Republican political party. (I am an American).

Also, emotional labor isn’t just being emotional, it’s about being stoic, holding it all together when the plane has to fly through rough weather or when the fire has to be put out or when the bricks need to be laid.

These are the weakest arguments against the paper. The journal, and I speak from experience, is a reputable one. It focuses on sexual behavior, which does not actually have a political agenda that is uniformly conservative/liberal/etc. Even the gender/sex of the authors is not really that important. I would be be more judgmental of the study itself. Is it pre-registered, or were the findings and hypotheses ad hoc? How small is the n? Is it comprised mostly of college undergraduates, who are a se…

I’m studying social work. I’m the only man. Professors, bosses, classmates, all women.

This is a great point. An A+ point and a great reason for this sub.

Great insight. The converse of this is that if you want to reclaim the power in the relationship, don't thirst for her sexually. For many women, literally their only tool is their sexuality and without that, you have most or all of the leverage. It can be useful if you want to maintain frame. Opposite action (your disinterest) yields opposite results (her desire to seek your attention).

there is no such thing as winning and losing in life, that we are all equal, and therefor what is the point of trying to rise above anything? Read Camus. Read the stoics. Detached participation.

He's not an expert in what he speaks. Also, he's a socialist... when it comes to mating? "Sharing the wealth" sounds like socialism, if that's your thing. But he wants it for women. That's him.

true but it's like saying the sun IS your energy source. Don't stare at it though. Seriously, the less you think about the strategy the more it will happen. Stop obsessing. It's reflective, not productive. don't think about women and they will come to you. i don't even lift that much and it's insane.

Agreed. Be man enough to walk away from a hairy situation. Talk to cops or anyone in military. The goal is to avoid conflict. You've already lost when you got the war going. Thank your military we haven't started a war with Venezuela (yet). It's their stoicism and sang-froid that keeps their eyes on the big picture.

Meh, that guy looks like he's selling something... Look for the strength in a man who doesn't dress like he's ready to sell you supplements. A fat man, a short man, a weak man. Look for that. Those people are stronger than this guy, who gets accolades for everything he has accomplished. Here's someone to think of. You know the Arab Spring was started by one man? He was poor, weak, and would be called a "loser" by American standards as well. He set himself on fire. Not the wisest move, perhaps, b…

First: don't call it by a medical term. It is not depression. It is sadness. Second, express it and remove any myth that this is meant to be fixed. The French had this down pretty well: it's not genuis and madness, it's genius and hardship. The Blues. Listen to it. Make music. Hip hop is demonized by everyone but guess what: the people who make hip hop are talking about a reality nobody wants to hear. Paint, draw, sing, and express and communicate that. And listen to other stuff. Whatever it is.…

It's a great point. To be aware of where they are, but also perhaps to be aware of what those people can contribute. A lot of these guys would be perfect for the military, but criminal records prevent that. A lot of these guys would be out building bridges but we don't invest in our infrastructure. Reality is not everybody is a book-nerd or internet-warrior. Some guys are made to fight and to lift heavy things, and to take risks. Those risks are necessary when we fight bears or in battles. Those…

Why do we call it resilience? That's a structural engineering term. Some shit you bend and it never comes back. It's different. I think that term is not correct unless you really think people can't change and return to some stable zero point.

He is against economic socialism but favors "enforced monogamy" (sexual mating socialism). No, that's not how it works. Also, I get that he resonates with a lot of people, but he's WAY out of his expertise and frankly knows nothing outside of a narrow field of social psychology. He wrote some articles on creativity, and, like most psychologists, he disagrees with a plethora of gender names for what is essentially sexual dimorphism, but that's really it. Don't be a sucker for personalities and co…

I don't think the people on the street are even losers. Read the Grapes of Wrath. You're adopting the "unmarriageable male" narrative. RECLAIM the REALITY that the Common Man is the Winner, not the Loser. Losers tweet and CHEAT. Real men hang tough and keep it real. Take the narrative of the down-on-his luck here. The comeback kid. Rocky (who didn't even win his match). The Fighter. The Joads were "losers" in their society, outcasts by a cruel society and unforgiving heat (sound familiar). The h…

I agree... I had a woman on some stupid dating app who was 4'9... I'm like, "this is not even feasible." It angers me to no end that we don't talk about heightism, and the absolute disdain women have for shorter men. Like WTF? Here's the crazy fact: HALF of all women are YOUR HEIGHT OR SHORTER. That means you have a coin flip for women. So why does Madame 5'0 or 4'9 even have the gall that I'd like to break my back trying hold hands... it's weird to me.

I'm around 6'3ish... I really wouldn't worry about that height thing. Seriously women can't tell half the time. And honestly they are more worried about themselves!

That's interesting! I'd love to see the link to the article... most studies are flawed when it comes to many anthropometric measures... BMI can be very noisy (misclassifying people), and height can actually be faulty if self-reported.

I never get this, but I don't really pay attention! I did have an ex who told me what I got double-looks. But no special "hellos." I'm a bit freaked out about photos. WTF?

Honeslty, I learned the hard way. Be an actor. Pretend. Play a role. ADHD has some advantages (such as not filtering anything out). It has helped me acquire accents and languages. Seriously. Also, at some point, remember to NEVER let ADHD be cause of your unhappiness. I don't know whether it should be mentioned to any woman, because you will be called crazy for X reason. So keep that in mind.

Yes, I don't believe it. I was potentially ALWAYS high SMV but I never knew it. Now I have too many women. Too many "plates." It's overwhelming to be honest. I am told I am "beautiful" and shit like that. It's really, really weird. I simply wonder if there are loads of lonely people everywhere. I was married and then didn't give a fuck. So voila.

I do think there is a difference here: it's more like, all else equal, she doesn't just prefer tall men, she ACTIVELY dislikes (detests) shorter men. I think taller women have loads of insecurity that comes from male modal preferences. Tall women feel out of place; and any guy they date will be shorter than them... thus, a shorter guy will always be a shorter guy. As a tall guy myself, I think it's grossly unfair that short men are judged poorly. There are ways around it, but come on! Personally…

Social science does not suggest this actually. Seriously. For what its' worth, men desire shorter women, even if they are, say 6'0.

As a tall man, I have dated very tall women. They really want to feel small too. A 6'1 woman is VERY upset when she see's a 6'3 man dating a 5'4 woman. When I dated a woman who was 6'0, I asked her why she wanted a taller guy: "so I don't feel like a whale." That was over a decade ago, and it hasn't left me. AWALT.

Being destroyed is her feeling "unsafe" and having armed police force you to remove everything in 40 minutes in your apartment, placed in boxes, and in those 45 minutes you find you're homeless and half of your stuff is barely packed and the rent check you just wrote goes into her pocket because hamstering. Cops assume you're the bad guy, plays nice cop/bad cop, tell you to hurry up without warning, and you're terrified because they have guns, you're racing to take what you can, and any sign of …

YES! Bravo, brother. I wish I had done that! I had a date once where I wasted two hours with a pale-faced, plain Jane, geekazoid, vegan shit test. Now, I've learned from that mistake, and NEVER again. Add this to TRP vocab: DRINK AND DROP, my friends. D & D!
