I recommend exposure therapy. Start small, work your way up. Don't be the first to break when you accidentally meet eyes with strangers on the bus, with the cashier, etc...

You should join clubs and participate in activities around campus, it is helpful. Joining a fraternity can gain you social capital, but don't pledge just for that reason. (It's a pretty big commitment). I would also suggest getting involved off campus if you live in a college town. You'll meet a lot of people from the school in closer setting this way.

No. People do not join Fraternities because they are too weak and uncomfortable to try to be their own individual. They join frats because they see an inherent value in doing so. For some people this means getting in with the ladies, for others professional contacts, but for most (on some level) its about obtaining a group of reliable friends that they can trust after leaving the comfort of home for the first time. If you're insecure with your height then women will sense your insecurity. Insecurity is not attractive. You cannot change your height. If you come to terms with it, you will stop broadcasting insecurity and become more attractive as a result. Or you could move to an Asian country where the average height is lower.
