As far as I know, during the last millennia men always had the prominent role in Western Civilization. I do think they're the gender who have less reasons to complain about anything. I feel like you're taking the typical feminist view of saying "men have had it so good for so long, they can be disadvantaged for a while". I'm talking about now, in 2017 what's the state of millennial men vs millennial women? Where are the inequalities today, not in regards to the grand sweep of history that overal…

They think women complaining about gender disparities are tantrums I see it like this: millennial women outearn their male counterparts, they're less likely to be killed or convicted of the same crime and if they do get convicted of a crime, they're not going to get as much jail time. And they've got mainstream culture telling and showing them how smart and powerful women are. If you're better educated than me, make more money, are safer, and receive more lenient treatment from the criminal just…

My top concern for men in the West is how boys are falling behind in education relative to girls and the resulting implications of this trend. In today's world, a college degree increasingly guarantees a decent paying job and job security which in turn translates into financial power. Women have an in-group bias and think that men are privileged in all areas of life compared to them, meaning that they're unlikely as a group to want to do anything to change this situation. Combined with the femin…

You're right in saying that you can't know what's in someone's heart and that feelings can cloud your judgement, but I'd like to give a.couple of anecdotes. I know very well two single mothers and they're great people. But one of them got pregnant from a married guy and she knew he was married and the other single mom got pregnant from a guy who had seven other kids from five different women. In both cases, the woman knew what she was getting into when she started sleeping with him. And there's …

Hufflepuff is so clearly the leftover House that it's not even funny. What would you rather be seen as? Intelligent, brave, ambitious and cunning, or loyal and kind? The first three qualities get you far farther among both men and women. Hufflepuff is literally a beta House.

During ovulation, we're programmed to be attracted to men I can only describe as big old meatheads. Before/after ovulation, we're attracted to our long term partners and want to nest. Jesus, that's worse than men.

why don't you go gay? This has to be the most disingenuous blue pill argument that I repeatedly see on here. Even though you know what I'm getting at, let me explicitly explain my argument. It's not that women have the advantage of men sexually and romantically approaching them, it's that they have the advantage of the gender they're sexually attracted to approaching them. And of course, the higher the quantity of people you have to choose from, the higher the chance that you'll meet your high q…
/r/PurplePillDebate18/04/17 10:55 AM

Yeah, but even there women have an advantage, imo. Because women don't have to approach in order to get a date or sex, that's just what's typical. However, if they see a guy they really like, they always have the option of approaching him to up their chances of romance/sex. Men have to approach women or 9.9 times out of 10, they're going home alone.

Average to ugly women do not have it easier. What about Amy Schumer's famous quote: "I can catch a dick any time I want."? And there are a bunch of stories on here about how average girls and heavier girls have a bunch of thirsty guys trying to fuck them.

And men are less likely to be slut shamed. Slut shaming sucks, but isn't that the kind of thing that can be easily pushed through with an "idgaf imma do me" kind of attitude. And according to a lot of the Blue Pill members of the subreddit, doesn't slut shaming all but disappear in more liberal circles?

It is a structure built for many reasons, one of which is to protect men from the power of women. I do think men seek to control female sexuality because they fear rejection, but I disagree with you about patriarchy being "set up". Patriarchy naturally developed, through one thing on top of another. And it roughly developed like this all throughout the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. I think that the harsh realities of the vast majority of at least agricultural societies com…

I want rid the world of the notion that masculinity > femininity. But does anyone actually believe that? Without femininity, there'd be no human species. Femininity has intrinsic value, masculinity has to earn its value.

Cause people are dumb and make stupid choices, especially when they're younger and they see other women "make it" without a man, so they think they can do it as well. Which, women can raise a family without a guy, but why put yourself through that if you don't have to? As a young (20 - 30) year old woman, they can find a decent guy who'd love to start a family with them. Why go through something so difficult alone when they don't have to?

My question OP is why should women change, why should men not change? Women have the ultimate control over whether they get pregnant or not, both through abortion and their SMV, and have the most to lose should they end up pregnant with minimal support from the father. Both the man and the woman have responsibilities in the situation of course, but the woman has far more incentives to not become a single mother.

I don't see how you can contest the above poster's point. The amount it helps a man's sexual attractiveness will widely vary, but getting in shape, dressing in flattering clothes, and gaining more status certainly isn't going to hurt matters.

If I lived in the Western world like I currently do, yes. There's very effective medication for periods and pregnancy and my group would soon be the one in power, what with higher incomes than my male counterparts and pop culture behind my group.

It really hasn't, because it's not a system to benefit men. When it comes to gender and sexual expectations, men are still held to the same standards as they were 50 years ago by both men and women. The only thing that's really changed for men is that it's acceptable and in some feminist circles, encouraged to dump on men and blame all of women's ills on men instead of recognizing the complex interdependence that mena nd women have on each other. The most critical issue that men face, falling be…

Emotional labor is a very nebulous term that can mean a whole bunch of things, some of which is labor and other stuff which is more what you would consider "life shit". And women are far more often in that position than men. What evidence is there for this?

By nagging the nurses in hospital? By jokingly putting down their female secretaries? By downplaying the work of their women at home? Where are you running into these men? What is "nagging" the nurses in the hospital and which men specifically are nagging the nurses? Do you mean wanting to see results sooner rather than later? And again, which men are jokingly putting down their female secretaries (and are you from the 1950s)? In my experience, male and female coworkers both joke around with eac…

My anti-feminist assumption is that feminists don't really care about how poorly young men are doing in school, which based on my pop feminism readings, is quite accurate. I believe that feminism is overall a fantastic thing, but I feel my apathy for the movement growing because I realized that feminism doesn't care about me or male issues in general except in the ways that we screw up. Why care about a movement that at best displays apathy towards the issues of my gender and typically finds a w…

/r/PurplePillDebate22/02/17 05:32 PM

I really think you're misreading the goal of the Manosphere. One of the goals of most men in general is to attract (gain the approval) of attractive women. So you're going to see that pop up in every political movement with men in it. If the Manosphere is "one huge desperate attempt" to gain women's approval, then male feminism doubly has that goal. The Manosphere is a movement (in the loosest sense of the word) to push back against what is perceived as an unfair loss of status from men due to f…

There's a burden but also a benefit to leading. My point is, OP is willing to be the coy woman when it comes to romance. Such as being pursued romantically and being wooed by gifts and dinners. That's cool. But the reverse of that is, if I'm doing all that work spending all that physical and emotional energy on you and you just receive it, because you want to be the "woman", are you willing to be the "woman" when it comes to who typically calls the shots in a LTR? Yeah, it just kind of sucks for young men is all. Women get the traditional benefits of femininity with none of the downsides whereas all men have is an outmoded masculinity. I still got to ask women out and pay for dates but what do I get out of it? Will she be submissive to me (to a point)? Will she let me lead" the relationship and family?

Maybe it's got something to do with the instinctual male avoidance of false paternity? Women have no such fear about sexually active men and in fact if a guy's a virgin then that means there's something wrong with him that he can't attract a woamn.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/02/17 09:45 PM

Younger men tend to have a more negative reputation compared to young women. They're violent, they think with their dicks (this one is huge), they're impulsive, etc. So there's that and also I really don't think that women value men as sexually as men do women. Combine all that and I can see most older women not wanting a mid-20 something guy.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/17 10:40 PM
1

No, but they are not really interested in younger men. Women's preferred age for a male partner tends to be a little older than whatever their current age until they get into their 30s or 40s, at which point their preferred male partner is a guy their own age. For men, their preferred female partner is their own age until they get past 25. At this point, their preferred female partner is always at the age of 25. This creates an imbalance in the dating market for both younger guys and older women…

But why is the question gendered? Because the consequences aren't the same. A woman cheating on her man can lead to the man being completely left without any heirs. A man cheating on a woman just leads to another woman having kids. There's no such thing as false maternity.

From a physical work perspective, males can produce more resources than females. They're also better soldiers. However, these activities, especially in older times, are fairly dangerous and carry a significant chance of death or maiming. In such an environment, it's better to prefer males because you're going to lose so many more men than women acquiring resources or defending the community.

It is possible that higher partner count is often be the cause of a certain personality and that that same personality is the cause for more cheating. In this (hypothetical) case, higher partner count does not cause cheating, and if you want to select for a woman who doesn't cheat, you're better off selecting on personality. I mean in this case how would you even separate the two? By your own reasoning, the same person likely to have a high partner count is going to be the same type of person th…

The thing is that transgender people basically know from the day they can walk that they are getting misgendered and that they want to live a different live than the one that's prepositioned for their biological sex. Notice the assumption that the woman's attraction is constant over time. If she isn't attracted now, then she never was attracted to him to begin with. Notice that the alternative, i.e. her attraction changed due to changing circumstances, is never given any consideration. Honestly, that sounds worse and makes women seem even more fickle when it comes to love.

Scribbles down notes on SMP notebook Fascinating, absolutely fascinating. As I got older, I started finding as much sexual value in interpersonal chemistry as I do in looks. I believe you, but I can't really see valuing chemistry and humor in a girl as much as her looks, if I'm being absolutely honest. Like, obviously a 7/10 girl who's got humor and looks is better than an 8/10 girl that's got only looks, but I don't think I'd ever be in a situation where humor would overrule looks.

But then I think of pre-colonized/pre-globalization Africa where long hair wasn't even possible, how would they have a preference for something they've never seen? It's possible through braids, and some Sub-saharan ethnic groups would be capable of growing long hair. According to European explorers (who's viewpoints would be highly filtered through racism), women would use straw as a way to simulate long hair.

I wouldn't call it a patriarchal beauty standard, that makes it look like there's some kind of societal demand for long hair. I think women look good no matter what (except for severely overweight), but I prefer longer hair than shorter hair. Of course, if hair gets too long then that becomes unattractive in a way that short hair isn't.

No, I genuinely meant it when I asked you that. You assume that women don't want to be told that they can't sleep with someone, without saying their objection is being told that in or out of a relationship. You then say that because women don't want to be "owned" (no one wants to be owned), we should totally abandon relationsips because we can't force people to be monogamous. That reasoning sounds really immature and limited and you come across like someone who doesn't quite "get" people. That's…

I think that it's mostly true. Even in gender equal societies, men are more likely to cheat than women, if only slightly, and that's with men doing through vast bulk of the approaching and most of those approaches ending in rejection. So if the average man had as many "options" as the average woman? I believe that the male infidelity rate would be much higher, at least for a while, and then maybe level off.

/r/PurplePillDebate18/11/16 09:21 PM

This. I don't get women paying for either sex or a relationship unless it's with a 11/10 guy. SO many men, especially young men, are so desperate/thirsty that even a below average girl is going to be able to secure sex and/or commitment from an okay guy at least. If you can't at least get laid fairly easily as a woman, especially a young woman, it's time to give up.

That's why the umbrella of feminism contains everything from sex positive strippers to the hardcore conservative TERFs. There is no coherent ideology within feminism. I disagree. I love funny women, I don't think most guys have a problem at all with funny women. But thinking more about it, I think the issue is more about what the man values about himself. If he really thinks that being funny is his "thing", he might very well prefer a woman who's not as funny as him but he might not care if she's smarter than him. If he values his intelligence, he might not want a girl smarter than him.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/11/16 12:03 AM

No. Don't ever hide yourself, especially something like your intelligence, it'll just come out eventually whether it'll be tomorrow or five years down the line. Be honest and find a partner that's cool with your intelligence.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/11/16 11:32 PM

This. It isn't that men don't care about anything else in a woman's life, it's just that male preference about what makes a woman attractive enough to date and fuck is so low and variable compared to their average female counterpart means that all stripes of women get male attention.

As you said, most men don't care about how smart a girl is so long as she's nice and hot. Few, if any, guys want a dumb girl but aside from that, they don't care. Men wouldn't be so jittery about unrestrained female sexuality if this wasn't true. This idea that women prefer multiple partners has been supported again and again through science. The shape of men's penises which are perfect for expunging semen from a vagina, the fact that women vocalize so much during intercourse, the whole Sex at Dawn book, they all point to females who are promiscuous compared to males.

Even in liberal as fuck Sweden, women don't have enough kids to replace the current population because even in a best case scenario, a woman who takes time to have her child and recover is going to be disadvantaged when it comes to promotions and raises compared to her non-pregnant male and female peers. The governments shouldn't do anything more. I'm very curious about what a whole world below replacement rati…

I feel extremely bad when a woman gets shit because of her sex and I wish that it didn't happen to her. I imagine what it would feel like to always be constantly under attack because of your sex and how tiring it would be. Is that empathy?

There should be maternity and paternity leave, but even in the most generous countries, women still have less than the 2.1 children needed to keep the population stable.

I think it's because feminism by and large doesn't help men, which it shouldn't as it's a movement for and by women. I'm not against feminism, but as a man I have no place in it and claiming to be an ally is fraught with all kinds of politics. If I have the chance to vote for unrestricted abortion or equal pay, I most definitely will. But feminism doesn't need my help, the women have got things just fine.

I don't think so. If you want to get laid, then yeah you can pay a hooker to pretend to be into you for a half hour. But there's still "Chad" getting pussy for free with girls that are legtimately into him. The ONLY gender dynamics would change is if men valued women solely for sex and literally nothing else, which even in the most traditional countries simply isn't true. If nothing else, men want to feel desired by women, and paying a prostitute for sex won't change that urge.

I'd argue that in terms of male behavior, women create most of the issues in the dating markets because of the men they select to have sex with. They complain that too many guys are "meatheads"? Maybe it's because guys see the positive attention men who lift get compared to men who don't.

As /u/kick6 said, at some point unless you're getting pussy just slung at you there comes a point where a guy just gets tired of "the game" and all the work that comes with it. And there's always a younger, more "alpha" Chad coming through. And honestly, I can see a guy who's got a harem getting curious and wondering what it's like to only have a single woman.

Yeah, it sucks but keep in mind that the Chinese population doubled from 582 million in 1953 to 1.2 billion in 2000. That type of population growth was worrisome and the Chinese PPC was afraid that such rapid population growth would lead to political instability and undercut China's ability to raise living standards. Okay, I can see why that wouldn't be as desirable. Let me ask you something strange if you don't mind. Is there any correlation between guys that are attractive and how good they are in bed? For instance, let's say you see a guy and you think "damn I'd like to fuck him" vs a guy who you think "he's alright". Is the more attractive guy a better partner, like is your "gut" usually correct or is it a toss up?

But keep in mind that the ratio accounts for China and India where male children are heavily preferred and female fetuses are aborted. In China alone there are about 50 million more men than women (those poor men). If people in China and India had kids at natural ratios, there'd probably be more women than men in the world.

That is, it's easier for women to get casual sex because women don't want casual sex. I've never understood this. Like, are you being serious when you say this? This is nothing more than the masculine version of women wearing makeup, or dieting, or otherwise changing their body / appearance for the pleasure of men. Magic sex juice. Playing devil's advocate, maybe people are conflating the type of lifestyle that can lead to a very high partner count with the effects of simply having a high partner count. And yet you have the "evil stepmother" stereotype... I worded that sentence badly. I meant women don't have to worry about false maternity no matter how promiscuous the guy they sleep with is. I think we agree with each other. Males tend to favor children they think are theirs. Human men can take it one step beyond by realizing that if the woman/women they marry and support are virgins, then they'll know that those kids are theirs. Women don't have that concern but men do. But doesn't what he just posted semi disprove that? I'm arguing that trp's obsession with women "making a bad choice" in a mate is irrelevant to hunter gatherer society because food was shared and the whole community contributed to raising children. Is making "the wrong choice" in a sire/mate/father an automatic death sentence for the woman's children? No. But it is significantly more likely to have negative affects. If all children were raised communally and equally, that wouldn't be the case.

And something also to think about: around 8,000 years ago things got so bad for men that only 1 out of 17 men (and probably fewer than that since more males are born than females) survived to reproduce. Whatever we were before agriculture, we sure as hell aren't the same afterwards.

Matrilineal doesn't mean matriarchal. You're right that women hold more power in matrilineal societies but almost all societies, whether they be matrilineal or patrilineal are patriarchal. Men ultimately rule in both. The Mosuo in China appear to be (please correct me if I'm wrong) the only true matriarchy. As for male preference for ensuring paternity... it could go either way I suppose but here's how I see it: the idea of ensuring the paternity of your children is a constant thread in almost e…

Republicans by and large seem to really not respect the bodily autonomy of women. If I were a woman, I'd definitely vote Democrat 9/10. The other 1/10 would be for the exceptional Republican that did a good job running things.

So Magic Mike 24/7? Meh, I've heard worse ideas.

When did matriarchies occur? The only I can think of is the Mosuo and even there the men hold the political power, which is really strange to me.

M'ask you something u/cherryblue12, I've read the stats that say that the average sexual partner count (lifelong) is either 4 or 7 but it can't be that hard to have a dozen of sex partners can it? Doing the math, that's like a new sex partner every month. Surely women could get that if they wanted? And couldn't most men also get 12 women to bang them without payment in their lifetime? Especially since men are always on the hunt for sex.

No. Long term, the declining birth rate problem will sort itself out. Honestly, just because it's effects on controlling population size, feminism is vital.

More like they're more closely related to what humans once were before we became homo sapiens sapiens, right? Humans and chimpanzees have diverged more due to taking to different environments while bonobos have stayed closer to the genetic "source".

Would you get upset if I walked into your home and began eating your food or downloading music onto your computer? Probably. This upset is due to an idea that impacts the structure of society; it's a way of thinking about things. This upset is not necessarily "natural" or "inherent" to humanity. It depends on how you look at it. Subconsciously, you're taking stuff that I worked to get without giving me anything in return or without me being assured that I'll get anything in return, unlike OP's e…

It's not dark triad to want to be sexually exclusive or to care more about your own children than other people's. That's called being human. If you don't really care about either of those things, that's also human. But it's not sociopathic to care about your kids above other people's. People are people and people are largely self-interested.

Yeah, I just finished reading the Wikipedia article on bonobos and I don't know what to make of that. Fascinating animals. But I would like to stress that we aren't bonobos which I know is obvious but for whatever reason, we're different. Bonobos society is dominated by females whereas human society tends to be dominated by males. Only the Musou exist as a counter example and even there men hold the political power. And we became humans in the savanna where food is much scarcer and where there a…

That's why I said "if he's smart about it". He would still hunt and share his kills. He would still be socially amiable. He would still care for the other people's kids (maybe not as much as he care for those he thought were his own but I doubt he'd be the only one favoring children he thought were his own). In short, he'd be self interested only when it came to matters of reproduction and sex.

It really doesn't make sense to me that male early humans wouldn't care about female virginity or at least throwing the odds in their favor that the children their mate (s) produced were theirs. One, mate guarding in some forms is seen in almost ALL species whether they be avian, reptiles, mammals and even primates mate guard. I find it very strange that this deep instinct would exclude humans Second, even if humans initially didn't care about mate guarding, all it would take is for one guy to h…
