Makes sense; it's sad that there isn't more space online for gender-emancipatory modes of self-improvement.

I take it that the order of explanation for why TRP appeals to folks is reversed. It's not so much that people find the explanation (the theory) appealing in and of itself, but rather that they fail with women and then afterwards search for an explanation for this failure. So to understand why people find TRP appealing, we'd be better off looking at folks' experience of failure. That's the true cause and source.

Interesting. I think that the nuggets of truth in TRP don't go awry so much because of they are over-generalized but rather because they misunderstand the principle behind the surface-level truth (in this sense they don't generalize enough). For instance, they see jerks succeeding with women, so they infer the principle that being a jerk is attractive. But the principle at work here is actually something like being confident and accepting yourself is attractive (and is true regardless of one's g…

This checks out with my most of my experience. Would be interested in hearing more about your story. I do think generalizations can do more work (and are in fact necessary) than you let on, but perhaps you just need to substantiate more.

You feel empty and broken and are searching for feel-good solutions. This isn't how adults solve their problems, at least not successfully.

Good question (or at least I've been wondering the same thing). as a man, I suppose I lean towards also texting less, even if I want to communicate more. But I also know that I have needy tendencies that I need to counter-act.

Seems like a reasonable and respectable way to proceed to me.

More confirmation of what we already know. Not unhelpful.

Good book but the parts on lifestyle are a joke. The author admits to buying into libertarian ideology and has no deep understanding of the social world. But nonetheless some helpful tips for day-to-day attraction (not that I've seen any success myself, but let's assume that's for other reasons).

Treat it just like you would the cops: don't say anything (especially don't admit to anything) and then fight it. Luckily, most universities will not kick you out unless there is some sort of evidence.

I agree, you can still be a great person without getting women. But I think you'll find that is you actually become a great person, things might change. Because being a great person means standing your ground, respecting yourself and others, and developing yourself. Even if you're ugly, it's going to be hard to achieve all this without running into some part of womenkind who is interested in tagging along. But you're welcome to go out and prove me wrong. As the late greats say, you have nothing …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
