From one web developer to another, thanks for the invitation! My question: Would Stylelife Academy find PUATube.com, a website I started over this Labor Day Weekend, useful? If so, How can the site be made better for your purposes? If SA is not interested in this site, why not?

Just added register, login, and logout functionality. Pleaseee let me know how the logged-in sessions work for you. I'm saving them as encrypted cookies so some browsers may not play well with them. If that's the case, I'll save the sessions on the server. I'm going to create some basic category support and the uploader. Let me know if you want anything else to get in this weekend!!!

How should uploads work? Upload to PUATube only Upload to PUATube; PUATube uploads to your YouTube Account (video stored on two sites) Upload to YouTube; PUATube subscribes to all YouTube videos tagged "puatube" and embeds them on PUATube. (Video only stored on YouTube). Anything else? What would be best for everyone?

Yeah, that totally sucks. We could "checksum" the videos but I think that would only work for exact matches on the bit-level. I already have something like that built into the uploader. It probably wouldn't catch different qualities of videos or the same video but of a slightly different length. You're right, it is tough to do. The best option might be, in addition to the checksum, to have the community flag it as a dup.

We could do this quickly with tagging. The community could adopt a standard tag for "in-field" videos and tag them as such. Another way would be to introduce categories. The categories themselves would not be community-driven but instead statically added at the platform level for the community to select from. Thanks. The pickup community has been great to me and I always thought a solid resource like this has always been missing. Right now it's obviously very basic but would like to make changes quickly if it would be useful to everyone.
