Definitely have fallen into the trap of black and white thinking. And hearing you lay it out this way, god I love your writing

Is there still a PDF version of the handbook? I remember there being one with a pink background, although having trouble finding it again

The touting of what makes a male a male rings so true. A former boss went on about how men are supposed to protect women blah blah during my interview process. He ended up being really touchy and a bully. I’m smarter now and would run from that

The Six Pillars of Self-Esteem by Nathaniel Braden expands on self-esteem and it’s development. I’ll look into Andrea Dworkin- thanks for the recommendation!

Yes! I’m finishing Communion now. It’s about the female search for love. It’s deeply affirming. Her first book in the trilogy was All About Love (I read it in two days it was so good). Next I’m going to read Salvation, which is about Black love.

I was in a similar situation. The end of that relationship felt like an exorcism and unleashed unresolved past trauma. It took time to work through. Lately I’ve been reading bell hooks. In her book Communion she says the most feminist thing you can do is have self-esteem. She references The Six Pillars of Self-Esteem multiple times in her trilogy on love. I ordered this book and am 80 pages in. So far, I highly recommend it. I didn’t even know what self-esteem was, much less how to cultivate it …

Interesting, I didn’t know that. What should replace a handshake? A wave? Or head nod?

My friend’s boyfriend is from France. The first time we met I began to reach my hand out and he proceeded to kiss me on each cheek. The stunned look on my face had my friend cracking up Are handshakes going to survive COVID?

Go to the FDS reddit home page, then click on the menu tab, then handbook tab. Then “FDS Wiki and Book List.” That’s where all the recommendations are

Do you have a third party that could be with you while you pack/move out? I needed to move mid semester in college. I only lived with the guy for two months and had enough. My mom helped me get out of that situation. Her being there kept him away while I got out ASAP.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
