Maybe? There's not really enough information. He did get two wives out of the 14 years, so I don't see it as a bad deal for him, and he got them in the middle of the fourteen years which is sort-of payment in advance. For reference at the time it was normal to pay basically the amount we would for a decent house for a wife. Usually around the cost it took to raise them, and then a bit more if they were good looking. So 7 years sounds fair.
