Once in a while, in the past, there were a few good things in MensRights, like men who were harassed for playing with their kids in the park. Men being child molesters as a default is kind of a bastard move imho. As is treating male rape victims like they just need to man up, or arguing that it's okay to ignore them because the majority of attackers are probably also men. I saw this gem on a feminist board recently: I talk every week with men who see and present themselves as victims, and who get many practitioners to see them the same way, but who actually are confusing victimhood with not getting the compliance they expect from the women they are with. Statistically speaking, black men are far more likely to be criminals, and far more likely to be shoplifters. Racial profiling is illegal, though. And to be honest, it's a good thing it is. When I worked retail, that bias tended to work against loss control, as they had such a reputation that the shoplifters would form black and white teams, where the white guy would do all the stealing while the black guy acted as a decoy.

My major problem with "Ban Bossy" is that there's a big difference between "bossy" and "management skills". A bossy kid is one that (imho) tries to micromanage everyone around them. Someone with leadership skills does just that: they lead. They don't tell you absolutely everything to do, they lead you in the right direction. My kids are bossy. I'm going to tell them when they're being bossy, and I'm going to tell them that they are, in fact, being BOSSY.

I have bicyclists act creeped out if I fail to pass them...while we're both going uphill. No, I'm not going to risk a head-on collision just because you're bothered by the car behind you. I went away for a while, and thought about it; I'm assuming she's talking about drunken consent, which isn't consent... It bugs me that one of the cases that set the precedent, at Brown, is actually one where, if they followed their logic to the letter, the victim would have been the rapist. I need to work on doing this while cutting back drastically on carbs--pre-diabetic, and once I did, I all but banished my lifetime "brain fog". When I cut the carbs I found myself leaning on larger portions of meat instead of vegetables.

I used to have an uncle who was such an old-school preacher that, one year, when he came to Thanksgiving dinner, his wife insisted that the rest of the women stay in the kitchen with her while the men ate. Honestly, I have to fight to rein in my temper when my kids are acting up...and when I lose my cool, I act just like my mother did when I was a kid.
