Men should not have a say in the abortion process, says feministExcept there's no equality when one person is gonna eat more than usual, will need new clothes, will need to go to the hospital/clinic very often, will experience extreme emotions, will see extreme changes in their body (which can be extremely distressing), will have to take maternity leave, might have to stop taking certain medications they need (depression and asthma meds), will go through childbirth (which is painful, can be traumatizing - especially if you don't want the kid -, and complicat… | /r/MensRights | 12/08/19 07:03 AM
Men should not have a say in the abortion process, says feministIt's not a simple body image issues when someone forces you into it. Pregnancy also causes a lot of stress, especially if you don't want the kid. You're the one who talked about how the man should decide if his partner could get an abortion, insinuating that it wasn't really discussed when you said he'd want a kid but his partner wouldn't. Forcing someone to pay child support because you think it's unfair that "men have to and it's stressful"? You think this isn't stressful for the other person?… | /r/MensRights | 12/08/19 06:07 AM
Men should not have a say in the abortion process, says feministThere's a difference between simple body image issues and how much pregnancy can change a person's body. They might have been working for years on staying in shape. It's not only about gaining fat, it's also stretch marks. It's things that are going to be hard to fix. It's seeing extreme changes because you're carrying a kid you don't want. If you want a kid, find a partner who also wants a kid, don't just say "well I want the kid so you can't get an abortion". That's forcing someone to have a k… | /r/MensRights | 12/08/19 05:17 AM
Men should not have a say in the abortion process, says feministThat's really the pregnant person's choice and no one else's. Who's going to see their body change? Who's going to eat more than usual? Who's going to need new clothing to accommodate their changing body? Who might have to take time off work because not all jobs are safe while pregnant? Who might have to stop taking their meds because it's not safe when pregnant? Who's going to need to go to the hospital/clinic every couple of days? If you're not the one who's pregnant, it's not gonna impact you… | /r/MensRights | 12/08/19 05:07 AM
Men should not have a say in the abortion process, says feministThat's not... You're still forcing someone to carry a child when they don't want to. You want a kid? Find someone who also wants a kid, find a surrogate or adopt a kid, but forcing someone to go through pregnancy and childbirth is not okay. It's gonna change their body, they're gonna be in pain and it's expensive (more food, suitable clothes, might have to leave work, hospital bills, etc). AND you'd also expect them to pay child support? Their body, their choice. | /r/MensRights | 12/08/19 04:53 AM
