"Only reject (or court) men (or women) accountable to a common social group with like values. Our ancestors stuck together in groups for more than just survival." Just my two cents, for what it's worth.

A trick I've adopted from sales training works pretty well but takes a bit of effort to get the hang of. Make all statements in the form of a question. If you need to "tell" turn it into a presumption with a question. No one likes to be explained to. In sales they say "questions push people away and questions draw them in." Just something I try to do when in unreceptive company.

There’s an interesting paper, The Unhappy Marriage of Marxism and Feminism by Heidi Hartmann 1979, that does a good job elucidating our sentiments about specific challenges as compared to the movement. It’s worth a read. 👍 In short, the Marxist approach is one of no quarter, which leaves little i. The way of understanding or cooperation. Here's the link to that paper. https://web.ics.purdue.edu/~hoganr/SOC%20602/Hartmann_1979.pdf

That’s rough. Poor little guy. I hope things turn for the better. ❤️‍🩹

Yeah there’s all that to be sure. When I was referring to closing cases, I meant to insinuate that the child in many of these cases (at least ones I had to authorize to close) were closed because the child died. I’d always have to take a break after those calls to clear my head. I can only imaging what it was like for the caseworkers, or for the children for that matter. 😔

I used to so tech support for Child Protective Services. What’s so sad is they have all the records and can see the trends but policy only travels one way and nothing is done. Cases got closed all the time by mothers… and I don’t mean things got better… 😞

Same thing happened to me. Worst thing is having a connection to a unscrupulous pathological lying psycho. It’s been 22 years.

Straight guy here. I’ve always been turned off by overt advances and I can relate to a lot you’ve said, women treating you as a toy at their disposal. Had a girl grab my junk once. Another time force-kissed before shoving her off. Many back-handed complements. I feel for those guys more out there meeting new people. I keep my circle small and run into stuff. Sorry friend.

Thank you for sharing tour story. Me and your dad should be in the same support meeting. Everything sounds so similar.

I hope it helps! It took me a while to start seeing the world through this new lens but once you have it, it really helps be more patient, understanding, and more persuasive. If you're interested in more along these lines, I originally learned something like this concept from a child psychologist named Haim Ginott in his book "Between Parent & Child." It dawned on me that we're all just children inside to some degree, looking for approval and trying to make our way through life. So I started app…

I’ve found a trick for making this balance and it’s pretty general and simple. Mentally, make a distinction between people and actions. Accept people as worthy and empathize, and at the same time, focus your scrutiny and any negative speech at actions. We don’t like criticism because we’ve been trained to see it as an attack on our worth. By actively separating person (something we can’t change and deserves respect) from action or thought(something we can change, have agency over, and can be obj…

Wanted to share this piece of “research” so show how logic and reason can be distorted to justify discrimination. In this case, specifics are being collected into a single idea (toxic masculinity) so it can be leveraged as a label against the whole group. Even if we assume complete accuracy in the data collection, it creates a narrative that demonizes and scapegoats rather than trying to understand what is generating specific behaviors for treatment.

You didn’t make her cry; crying was her response to what she experienced. She’s entitled to believe whatever she wants, but don’t let anyone trick you into thinking their emotional response is owned by anyone but themselves. Personal agency is the only thing anyone really has, even if it’s only in how we think.

Have you ever read the book The Red Queen? It does a pretty good job of describing why you might have done what you did. In biological terms it’s called a mixed strategy. I wouldn’t feel bad. I think Richard Dawkins put it best in his book The Selfish Gene when he said something along the lines of; we don’t do what is best for us, we do what is best for our genes’ survival, and those are two very different things.

Time to find friends that find value in more than themselves as meat for display. Maybe it’s an age thing but people who like you for you exist.

I’m a male and i’m preferential to natural hair, especially brown hair. I’d even go so far as to say I favor women who look “plane Jane.” Of many guy friends, only a few were blond obsessed and strangely, they were the less cerebral type. Hope that helps.

As a male I’ll share this simple idea. The brain is where the excitement is made. Sex dies when psychological visibility dies. I never stopped wanting to enjoy sex with my partner but when she stopped listening, I stopped caring about sex, and it ended.

I do remember reading a while back that both men and women accumulate dna errors in their cells as they age, they found that both sperm and eggs can have significant differences than in their younger versions. In other words, tour egg and sperm dna are more accurate and robust in your youth. Of course, accumulation of dna damage occurs from a variety of sources, including metabolic syndrome, lack of nutrition, poor mental health status, to name a few so one healthy man’s 40 might be a unhealthy …

I can appreciate the frustration. There's actually some science on why this is a thing, and technically, what women are doing is not lying but veiling their "No" so that both parties can save face. Here is a cool animated video where Prof Steven Pinker explains why we use language this way.

Can someone enlighten me. What is “N count” everyone keeps referring to? It’s not in the sub jargon.

I suppose of what you want from a relationship is psychological visibility, sharing and reveling in your interests with your partner would be of the highest value. Unfortunately, psychological visibility does not always take priority or overrule other relationship priorities, conscious or otherwise. Sometimes people conclude not put all your their relationship needs in one basket, so to speak, especially if one’s needs seem unique and your experience with past partners sets a limited expectation…
