First of all, you sound like a lovely and gracious wife. You guys have established that your money is "your money." That's great. Have you gone to your husband with your bills and said "I don't know how to make this work" yet? You are making more money right now, but that doesn't mean you have to solve the budgeting crisis on your own. Men are amazing at fixing things! You don't have to frame this in a "you're a drain on our finances" context to get his insight.

Haha no offense taken, I know it's a little strange. We met at church, so a lot of the "big" questions concerning shared beliefs, lifestyle, raising kids, and what we believed a relationship should look like were answered from the beginning. He was especially intentional about discussing future plans and potential deal-breakers right around month two of dating, and clearly articulated that he was dating to marry. We were both out of school and doing well in our respective careers. We were and ar…

He was 29 and I was 23. We dated for 5 months, got engaged, married 3 months later. It was (and still is!) awesome.

No, and neither am I when it comes down to foundational beliefs - we (TRP and us) share some common ground but opposite comprehensions of Man when it comes down to foundations. We are both orthodox Christians who believe strongly in gender roles and the value of family. He definitely exhibits certain RP aspects, but they are really just his personality traits. He's quiet, extremely intelligent, and almost effortlessly cool and stoic. Does not have the capacity to "get" drama, because there is no…

I think "couple friends" can be either extraordinarily helpful and affirming or very dangerous. Before I moved to my current location, I was surrounded by people my own age (early twenties) and "walk of life." The rapport I had with my girlfriends was very light and gossipy, we often used each other for self-validation ("omg you're sooo good at reading people!") etc. I didn't date/have romantic interactions during this time, but towards the end of my time there, most of these friends were in LTR…

Women haven't forgotten the respect. The vast majority are just doing less to earn more of it these days. Full-time career women who have a couple of kids - raised by nannies of course - not because the household needs two incomes, but because most modern women are living under the delusion that they can (and should have) all of the things they want, all of the time. Although the focus in this sub is mostly on the mundane social/dating behavior, here (the family and household) is where Feminism …

I know this is ask trp, but I'm a wife, so maybe that is some new perspective. When we got married, this was a very traditional "young virgin" (as one of the other commenters phrased it) marrying a slightly older dude, but even without all of the baggage of previous partners, I was surprised by how much control I had over how I perceived my husband's value. I realized very quickly that: If I was being lazy or selfish, I had more negative thoughts about him and what I thought he was contributing …

I don't know if any of you have had this experience, but mystery in conversation seems to turn my guy on. I'm pretty chatty (shocking, I know) and my husband is extremely quiet. When he gets home from work and I get him his beer, I usually ask him how his day was, etc. Usually I intersperse my own day as well, and he listens politely. I've missed him So I'm all over him, playfully hovering/hugging/tickling. I noticed that in the few days where I was engaged in another task for work/reading/etc, …

Find people who value the same things you do to surround yourself with. Look for coed rec sports or running clubs in your area. Since you mentioned church-I think it's important for this to be an intentional and careful thing. Even churches can be feminist. More orthodox, smaller congregations. I can't imagine you could game the same way. The success rate must be pretty low, but it is how I met my husband! Solved a lot of the big questions for us right away (shared ideals, discussions about kids…

Hello. Saw trp first and was kind of appalled/intrigued. Still some foundational concepts I cannot get on board with, but also some hard truths and shared ideals. Wouldn't consider my spouse or self to be RP, but definitely some common ground with values and more conservative ideas about gender roles and conduct. Common ground: -On a personal level, modern-day feminists drive me bonkers. -On a professional/ethical level, (I'm a teacher) I am very concerned about the negative effects some of thes…

It sounds like you'll be surrounded by men who have your age and ambition in common, but don't lock yourself in to rebounding (even rebounding smart) just for the sake of finding a fellow student for a LTR. I panicked when I finished college without a single relationship, and then met my older, smarter, amazing husband after moving across the country 6 months after I graduated. Keep taking care of yourself, but focus on finishing college well and maintaing good relationships with your friends an…

Good point. I know women aren't static in this way, but it seems like with everything posted about what is known about women, men could seek out the ones who are most likely to share their ideals. This seems in conflict with the Pua.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
