Look for inappropriate levity, weird storytelling structure, and an overabundance of flowery descriptions/“purple prose.” This isn’t specifically what I got out of my professional work (I was only writing like, Google and Yelp reviews, so it’s not the same context at all) but my work enabled me to notice the sort of shit bad writers do generally, and overdoing it is the most common mistake. With the type of fucked up stories that get reposted here, I find myself thinking, okay - if someone devas…

I stop reading if I click and it’s anything but news articles/stats anyway. I used to write fake online content for a job (fake reviews for companies) and have, if I may say so, a keen eye for it. 9/10 of the submissions that are screenshots from eg AITA, etc. are fake. It bothers me that FDS will read them and feel even more hopeless and afraid. Real world is bad enough. Edit: i replied to the comment asking for tips and it’s in the mod queue.

I don’t necessarily like it, but I get it from a “reclamation” standpoint. “Bimbo” was only ever an insult because it was applied by external actors, i.e. men who hate women (and sometimes women looking to get a leg up on other women’s expense). If you call yourself a bimbo and embrace it, you can’t be as readily hurt by that label, and the hope is that it takes some power away from the labelers. Plus, we all know that supposed “bimbos” were never stupid in the first place, and played right into…

Just an ancillary comment, I find that martial arts (muay thai here) are a fascinating bi-polar spectrum of men. I met my partner when I first started, and he is wonderful. He represents the good half, of which I’ve since met a few others: helpful, non-egotistical, genuinely kind and welcoming. Martial arts breed discipline and self-reflection, which can lend itself to this result. The other half are abusive dickheads. Honestly, the head injuries don’t help, but I think they were probably like t…

I had an ex who did this - the desirable trait that I failed to encompass at the time of his criticisms would just so happen to the opposite of whatever I was actually doing, but was never consistent. So a given personality trait could be good one day, and bad the next. For example, he once alluded to my being too amenable to other people, because i told him I have a pretty broad sense of humor and will laugh at almost anything that isn’t hurtful and like people to feel liked. Not long after - w…

For two men it was the way they ate, specifically the noises they made. Misophonia sounds like bullshit but I assure you it is real and its arch nemesis is mouth sounds. One guy took me on a date to a noodle restaurant where he proceeded to vociferously slurp with incredible force and i almost got up and left (he was white and it wasn’t a cultural thing - i understand some cultures slurp and while i can’t say it makes me like the sound i get that it’s not considered rude there and that’s fine an…
