Think about that statement as you hide your phone beneath your shoulder while you browse this sub. Maybe you're not so different from Alex? Nice

This. 100%. Really resonates, amazing read. Thanks.

My dude. You are a super thoughtful, eloquent and intelligent creature. I've heard this story before, but just this morning it really hit the spot for me. Sitting in an empty nest, littered with red cups and beer stains, I yearn to just chill with that one girl that's disrespecting me. Rationally, I know it's over. In realpolitik - she was flexing her ass playing a game of beer pong in front of me while I was primarily ignoring her. I didn't choose this. I just wanted to fuck and be nice to some…

Great post. The big L quote at the end seals the deal. "energy level of a eunich"... funny because it's true

I used to think that a night in with some nug and a game was a great way of eliminating fomo / neediness and just being 'happy' alone if plans didn't pan out. Lately, I can't seem to enjoy video games like I used to. At 28 now, I've begun cutting out weed (don't buy it anymore, will still take a hit here and there) and as a result, I'm much more likely to read a book, meditate or study for the GMAT a little bit longer than I used to. In other words, I get more joy out of doing something net posi…

JanMichael's advice is spot on. I'm 27, living in NYC and have learned a lot here but every once in a while a chick comes a long that threatens to prompt a full on beta backslide. Happened to me last week. 21 year old model. Despite the differing backdrops, your story reads almost exactly like mine. Started fantasizing how dope our adventures together could be. It set up a lot of internal pressure to succeed, which usually sets you up for fear and failure. Remember: it's the most engaged and lea…

Be a stranger. Stagnate on that tropical island watching the men unload fruit, it will teach you that you are stir crazy, a restless man whose problems aren’t real, that your issues all arise like phantoms from a mind that makes it impossible to sit quietly in a hammock all day. Walk through an East Asian village, let it teach you that you have always felt like an awkward outsider who everyone really is staring at, like a person on the edge of some great warm campfire of humanity that you have n…

Wow dude relax. This guy is trying to give you realistic advice based on his experience and understanding of the world. It's cool you're trying these things and improving yourself - if giving your number works better than taking hers for you than keep doing you but Ursus is right; taking a number gives you more control (and the ability to follow up) rather than "passing out flyers". Ideally, try both.

I, for one, enjoyed skimming the post and interpreted it as a reminder of why we put in the effort to do what we do, despite ourselves. Agreed, it's too long and verbose without actionable takeaways to warrant a fully absorbed reading... but I see no point in shitting on OP's work.

I've made some pretty similar experiences lately. They always come back. It's bittersweet.

Fake it till you make it. Nothing wrong with this advice.

Gotcha. I hear that... that's probably why people are easily bored by logical, straightforward and predictable behavior and doing the opposite of what feels appropriate often yields unexpectedly positive results.

Can you expand on the borderline prophetic experiences?

I very much relate to this post and appreciate many of the thoughtful comments. I think I've made progress beyond this stage by actively supressing oneitis as it begins to manifest ("she's probably out getting fucked") and forcing myself to plate; if not consistently or physically, at least by trying to evenly distribute emotional attachment and meditating on the inevitable craving for validation. Journaling is cash money too. Stay the course.

Buy yourself a new one and give her your old one. You had good intentions trying to fix it but you are responsible for breaking it. That said, she had an old phone and shouldn't get a brand new one from you.

I experienced transcendence and it's direct effects on human interaction in a party setting on Saturday. I was recording my bros engaging in a beer pong game from an outside deck in Brooklyn on Snapchat and noticed a bp pseudo alpha waving at me and flipping me off from inside. When I stepped inside he shouted "Who are you?" at me. I held eye contact and grimaced in disgust. His girlfriend observed. He asked again, with slightly more challenging intonations. I held frame and changed my expressio…
