It's not less likely. These people aren't chosen at random. It's not about probability. If it were, there would be far more factors in that. If it were merely probability, one could reason that just throwing random large groups of women into every race would result in more women being senators than men.

If there are less women looking to get senate seats it makes sense that'd there would be less women in the Senat. No it doesn't. One is chosen from a pool of people. That's not how statistics and science works. You investigate from many angles. Imagine if there were 0 female suicides. Wouldn't this help figure out what causes the male suicides? It's not measuring just to measure and say something needs to be done. Its to identify root causes that likely harm everyone. Coverage of suicide rates for veterans, since they're mostly men, is barely covered. I've heard far more about veteran suicide as a whole than I have either male or female based studies. We also hear basically nothing about care for veterans as a whole, not split by gender. It's silly to assume it's a male thing here and not for any other number of reasons.
