That's in all probability a breach of article 14 of the European Convention on Human Rights which prohibits discrimination. There's technically no limit to the scope of the areas covered by article 14, but discrimination on the grounds of sex is explicitly listed as something that is prohibited under ECHR.

I'm in Scotland as well and I'm willing to wager I've been up before the courts on criminal complaints more often than you have. A Not Proven verdict does not, in law, mean the jury think you're guilty but the prosecution failed to prove it beyond reasonable doubt. It is qualitatively absolutely no different to a Not Guilty verdict.
