I can't say that I have and I'm hoping it stays that way. But there are tons of equally effective ways, if you just have a little imagination. None of which you should try, by the way.

many think it's not because men are naturally better at killing themselves, but because they actively choose more lethal methods. I say po-tay-to, you say po-tah-to. /s In all seriousness though, that is very interesting. I'm no expert, so aside from the random facts I've remembered, I'm afraid I don't have anything further of value to add to the discussion but wild speculation. But I appreciate you raising this point; my curiosity is piqued.

The disparity in suicide rates is due to the fact that, for better or worse, we're a lot better than women at killing ourselves. In fact, IIRC, women have a higher rate of attempted suicide. But they are more likely to take less effective approaches. Pills are a popular option. Men are more likely to take the highly effective route of self-violence. I agree. The problem isn't in the implementation; it's in the wording. The airline's policy should read: "Unaccompanied children are not permitted to sit next to Men."
