Your link above and this post are extremely interesting. Do you have a good book or website to recommend to learn more about this in general?

I have a big gripe with the Internal Motivation part. Let's say you are an artist - how are you supposed to do your work while cutting out consuming everything related to it? You can not tell me that you can produce the same / better quality content by never looking at what your competitors or people with past successes did. How are you supposed to know what sells right now? That's like saying "give up your passion, because it's bad for you". I'm definitely getting defensive because the post doe…

That article is really great. The other posters also make a couple of great points. A day late, but I finally got time to get to this. I want to be a bit more positive this time, but at the same time there aren't any links this time. Christmas Cake: In my entire time of consuming Japanese media I have only heard of a single time a Christmas Cake "A woman 26 years+ who is considered to be past her prime, undesirable, used goods and/or no good." did not fail completely in a romantical relationship…

I totally understand what you mean as my style is reading it on the computer and doing paper notes of the relevant parts. And my post is kinda kneejerk. I just love finding and sharing free stuff online so my first thought is always "Can I find it somewhere else?" Also I wouldn't want to encourage anyone to buy books, read them once and have them on the shelf for the next 10 years. Those 30$ are a total waste for that. Knowing how to appreciate a paper is hard to come by knowledge today

I can't give you a good link that covers it all, as the reason I posted that is because of cultural absorption. The last 6 years of my life, I've been obsessed with otaku culture, Japan and learning Japanese to varying degrees. I'm gonna try listing all the major things that come to mind though. Again, these are only my opinions and most are not even backed up by any links - simply how I perceived it. I also need to sleep now, so if it helped you / interested you I can try to update it later. Ho…

You should NOT pay for some of those books as they are completely legally, freely available on a website like Gutenberg project. I am mainly referring to titles like Meditations and Tao Te Ching, where the copyright of the original authors has expired and entered public domain. DON'T waste your $$ EDIT: In OP's order: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/35895 http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/20203 http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/16643 http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/1232 https://www.poets.org/poetsor…

The list of reasons why Japanese men are so herbivore is much bigger than the video would suggest, because it's not single issues but the whole country that is completely broken.

Aren't you just describing impatience? Keep up what you are doing and you will get there. Instead of trying to think of new shortcuts, stick to what you are doing and appreciate how much work went into building the men you admire or strive to be like. It's hard and takes time.

You can totally flip this around on men and video games though. Why bother working out or learning a skill, when you can get very good at video games? They're validating and empowering experiences and it most definitely take a lot of time and skill to improve and truly master. Just like being popular and relying on social media is unattractive to men, being good at video games is unattractive to women. The problem isn't about social media or video games, it's a lack of moderation and self-awaren…

I don't think you need to be worried about that. There are more sides to "Hikkikomori" culture than you might think and numbers like 20% of a society becoming, what I am assuming budurtutgerek actually meant, hikkineets, is pretty much impossible. Unless a majority of people are no longer required to do anything work at all, that's simply unsustainable. There are big differences between definition and the entire group we are talking about here too. Like, what do you define "Hikkikomori" as? It's…

I'm turning 22 this year as well and I envy you. You took the hard road while I took the easy route and I'm still one hell of a mediocre guy now. You made the right choice though, I didn't.

You have a dude oriented humor? That's usefull! Capitalise on that. If you can approach a group and befriend the AMOGs, the girls will follow. Concentrate on having a good time with the guys, girls are attracted to that. :)

I don't remember where I heard it, but it was some mPUA who basically phrased it like that : There is no rejection. There is just misunderstanding. Maybe she didn't get how cool you are, that shit just happens. :) Good post!

You just made something in my head go "click" because I tended to set up a date and then I would flake myself because I "wasn't cool enough" or shit like that. Just reinforcing my role by myself.

You have to know that I used to be an anxious teenager who even wanted to kill himself - Before I read the game or any other material I met this one girl on my Sweden-trip ( it was with many other young folks). I just basically did /absoulutely EVERYTHING right/ I gamed her, I gamed /all/ the girls and I was the center of the whole god damn trip. And it was natural. That had never happened before, I was always the anxious nerd that did everything for everyone. I wanted to know how the fuck I pul…
