2	Hey Seddit. I have a slightly off-topic question about an AFC-esque social situation, and I feel like you guys would answer it best. I think you should not make as much conversation with your friend before introducing yourself. maybe make a subtle comment, laugh, and then be super friendly and say something like "oh hey, i don't think we've met before", like you did just a little earlier so she can join in on the conversation and not feel as akward.
