They broke up, he went on thinking he was a misunderstood Antebellum Southern gentlemen (haven't heard from him in a decade), she went on to marry someone who didn't hit her (a bunch of us were at the wedding). Still these absurd posters are everywhere I'm sincerely glad you've gone through life never seeing a man hit a woman in front of you. Unfortunately, not everyone is so fortunate. I watched a good friend of mine straight bitchslap his girlfriend in the middle of a very civil lunch meeting. She teased him about something minor. He open-hand smacked her across the face.
