I don't think I can be a single dad.Dude I had to move to a different country with a language I dont speak, and that has one of the highest unemployment rates in the EU and I figured it out. You will too. You dont know what you can do until you try. Those kids are your responsibility, you made them you need to take care of them and no one is coming to save you. You will have to get help from family to watch them so you can work. You may have to do some jobs you hate to make it work. But if you give up now you won't accomplish anyt… | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/07/26 04:09 PM
50/50 dads.Anyway to get a work from home job? Thats the only way I have survived. I am supposed to be on a similar schedule but my kids prefer to live with me so I pretty much have them full time now, and its exhausting but as they get older it does get easier. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/07/26 07:17 PM
I Hate that She Put me Here: Dating in 2026 is HorrendousI waited over a year before dating. Made myself happy first then put myself out there. And if I dont feel like it like the last year I just havent dated. Dont force it if you dont feel like it you dont need to date. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/05/26 12:49 PM
Post Divorce and Sex?Yes, the first girl I hooked up with after divorce was literally my ideal type. Nothing awkward when we went out. We had an amazing date where we talked till the rooftop bar we were at, closed down, and then we went back to my place. And well lets it wasn't hard, just difficult wink wink... anyway we ended up spending a week together and it went better later. So dont give up. With time, you'll rise to the occasion. Or as others have said it maybe more time you need. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/04/26 07:51 AM
Divorce Finalized Last Week: Burning all photos in a 55 Gal DrumIm so sorry, man... It's so painful, but it gets better. My ex-wife of 16 years and 3 kids decided to start having affairs, and it the betrayal was so hard. But I also realized too that she made me miserable, and I am so much better off without her. And you will be too. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/03/26 09:37 PM
Divorce Finalized Last Week: Burning all photos in a 55 Gal DrumI think a lot of people are insecure from being over qeight and then they get their confidence back and get a ton of attention and other said start thinking maybe the grass is greener. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/03/26 08:50 PM
Any man got 90 plus percent of the assets during a divorce? My ex wanted to leave the country to go work with a friend said it was her turn to be free... sure just sign iver custody to me and this notarized agreement that you will never be able to claim child support or alimony. Kids live with now we co parent and get on but I never gave her a dime and made her pay child support while she was off doing her thing. Divorce was one of the best things that ever happened to me. | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/05/25 01:31 PM
At a lossAre your kids old enough to vouch for you? My ex called the police on me once but my kids were there and the police had to restrain my daughter from slapping her mom she was so angry. Needless to say the police and eventually court ruled that I did nothing in no small part thanks to my kids standing up for me. So if you can get their support fight it. Why should you have to go through life looking like the bad guy when you havent done anything. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/05/25 08:39 PM
Estranged wife says “other parents” don’t want a man in the house during a sleepover. This is BS... I have two teenage daughters, and their friends sleep over all the time. And no one has ever said anything. I have only met the parents of a couple of them. I drop them off at parties, and their parents pick them up. They come over for lunch or dinner all the time, and we cook for them. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/04/25 12:44 AM
After DivorceSo my ex and I actually get along good now. But when we first split it was more or less the same minus child support. She was partying, boyfriends, talked pretty negative about me to all our mutual friends. I spent time on myself, enjoyed the kids, got a better job and threw myself into work and my kids. And now 5 years down the road I have my kids respect, I am doing much better financially then she is. All our friends have figured out that I wasnt the bad guy and since I never made them choose… | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/03/25 12:16 PM
How long did it take you to get over a divorce?A month or so to accept it was over and stop trying. About 3 months for it to stop hurting. And a year before I got out there again. And now almost five years later I am the happiest I have ever been. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/10/24 06:51 AM
My ex wife found out I wrote poetry about her during divorce, now wants to talkLook as someone whose ex used my alcoholism as an excuse to end the marriage. I would just let it go. I've been sober since my divorce in 2020, and I am having an amazing time. We were headed for divorce, and my drinking ended it, and it turned out better for both of us. So my advice is don't bother trying to make it work it will be better for you if you move on. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/09/24 03:31 PM
Barely survivingI'm on lexapro but you need to talk to a psychiatrist to figure out the best medicine/dose. The great thing about anti depressants is you don't build a tolerance so you can be on it as long as you need to without changing the dose. I'm on a fairly low dose of 10mg a day and it took about a 5 weeks to really start seeing the benefits of it too. It's a subtle effect like not like taking a Xanax which effects you immediately. The down sides are a physical dependence that means if you want to stop i… | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/09/24 04:09 PM
Barely survivingTake anti depressants. I understand a lot of people have a stigma towards it. I did too but it's literally changed my life, my anxiety used to the through the roof constantly in addition to pretty bad depression. If I could ask why don't you want to be on anti depressants? | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/09/24 08:02 AM

Took Her Less Than Two Months To Find Another ManIt is really painful but it gets better and stops hurting so much with time. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/05/24 03:10 PM
Wife wants me backAs an alcoholic one of the reasons our marriage couldn't work was that she didn't want to (and didn't have to) give up alcohol and it was too hard at least initially to stop drinking when she constantly was. This is not me blaming her as I am ultimately responsible for my life and I have been sober for close to 4 years now and my divorce was thr catalyst that helped me. But if she has a drinking problem and you're going to be moving back in together you absolutely have to be willing to stop drin… | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/03/24 01:58 PM
Why 50/50I grew up without a father and all I wanted as a kid was a dad... the thought of having a cool guy who wanted to teach me sports and how to be a man and about life was my dream and I never got that. So now as a father of three kids being present every moment I can of their life is the most important thing in the world to me. I literally moved to another country and got a new career just to be there for them. You made them you're responsible for them. And now my teenagers respect me 100x more the… | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/03/24 12:17 AM
Did you sleep with your x-wife after the divorce? No and I wouldn't. I have zero attraction to her any more. We get along fine but those kinds of feelings are gone. Besides there's so many options out there that don't come with a ton of complications. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/02/24 06:41 AM
Male PerspectiveAfter reading this just split up you'll be happier and so will he. It's not the end of the world, it will be really painful for a year and then it gets so much better. This much baggage isn't worth trying to save. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/02/24 02:44 PM
Why is it so hard to watch recent ex wife date?Of course its normal it bothers you. And she should never speak to you about it unless you've said it's okay. Boundaries will keep you sane | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/02/24 12:35 PM
Has anyone’s Ex-wife ever apologized for putting them through hell?Mine did... and keep in mind this was someone who cheated on me and her excuse was "if that's what I needed to do to be a better mother" 🙃. I also fucked up alot too and I apologized for it. Now we get along well. I don't want to live angry. | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/02/24 09:01 AM
Wife says she wants a divorce because I sound like Donald TrumpCouple of things. For one she probably wasn't serious. Or if she was this is not the first argument you have had with her and this is the proverbial straw that breaks the back. Secondly your wife is entitled to her opinions and you yours. So unless it is a fundamental thing like how your kids are raised or finances, you really don't need to try to change her opinion especially on something as silly as whether or not celebrities are witches or not. And third because it may happen eventually divor… | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/02/24 12:47 PM
How did you finally decide to pull the trigger?Yeh I mean I got sober and lost a ton of weight didn't matter. She even told the marriage therapist that he looks amazing now and somehow that pissed her off. That was almost 4 years ago and I am still sober so that's a positive from it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/01/24 09:32 AM
Men who pay Child Support - What do you pay per month?Spain 50/50 0 childsupport, but I do assume most of the extra expenses since I make about 75k a year, and she is on unemployment. I buy all the clothes, pay all the medical etc... there my kids and she can't. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/12/23 11:57 AM
Did you love your wife?Good on you for going to therapy and recognizing what you need to work on! That was the first step for me to get better. I realized that I wasn't even mad at my ex so much as I was mad at myself for letting myself get treated badly. | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/11/23 11:57 AM
Why did you get married ? What’s the point?I was 22 she was 23 and PG, I grew up pretty insecure and thought no one would love me and she was my "dream girl" so I went ahead and got married. Fast forward 15 years of which 13 of were just us arguing and screwing and it was too much I didn't want to let go she did the thing most women do where they decide its over and that's it not going back from it. Now 3 years later I am happy again and so is she. We co parent well, and I am so much better now that its over. I also got her sign away ali… | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/10/23 11:00 AM
New boyfriend of my ex buys toys for my kids, how am I to react?I get where you're coming from but 4 years is a while and he's not trying to be their new dad he is just showing he cares. If one of my GFs bought gifts for my kids my ex wouldn't care and if she does eventually have a bf and he buys that's not my business even if it makes me feel a smidge jealous I am an adult and I can't be weird about it. Sorry man it sucks but now you just gotta suck it up and accept this is how it is. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/10/23 10:54 AM
The Coldness AfterThis is 100% the same for me man. I feel sorry for her. She thought I was what was holding her back. But 3 years later she is still unemployed, and if not for her parents letting her live in their flat homeless too. She is massively depressed to the point my daughters are constantly worried about her. Meanwhile I now have a better job, have worked on myself and look and feel my best, have way more confidence, and am all around happier. Almost like I wasn't really the problem. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/10/23 05:07 PM

Men in your 40s dating younger women, what are you guys doing?I went out one time with a 26 year old (I am 40) and when she said I have daddy issues and that she was closer in age to my daughter then me I got a little turned off from it. We did have a fun week though. Now I stick to over 32. There are plenty of women my age that are attractive and have their shit together. One of the things my ex didn't. I have a pretty interesting background and I have done a lot to take care of my self. I work out, dress well, get good hair cuts, use good skin products. … | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/09/23 05:08 PM
The best part about being divorced.Yep that's the truth right there. As soon as you get your confidence and self respect back it's so easy. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/09/23 11:19 PM
The best part about being divorced.Damn man that is some truth. My ex never admits she did anything wrong. When she called me and said she she was through, she wanted to wait until I was back in the country to finalize it so we could have closure. I get back and see messages on insta to a mutual friend that she already started screwing. I confronted her, and her word for word response was. Well, if that's what I needed to be a better mother... then I have nothing to apologize for. That was the moment for me it was truly over. I w… | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/09/23 11:17 PM
It does get betterHey I just turned 40 and it's really not that bad. Work on your self a bit lose some weight if you need to, get some decent clothes take some good pics and you'll be fine. There are a lot of women out age out there in the same boat and alot of other women who find single dads in their 40s extremely attractive. I have my kids supposedly part time but its alot mode then that and I still get time to date. I had a six month relationship and now have 3 situationships ongoing. And I am nothing special… | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/09/23 02:20 PM
It gets better.Yep that is 100% true on 150mg of test a week. Another thing I couldn't have done when married. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/09/23 08:46 PM
It gets better.Hey man I know the feeling. When I first got divorced the first 6 months were really rough, so many things to get used to. The feelings of being unloved. Missing my kids etc... but it does get better. Then the next six months were tough in a different way. I was so angry all the time still couldn't process what happened. But eventually I felt happier and now I am finally truly happy again. I only wish this had happened five years earlier so I could have enjoyed more lol. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/09/23 08:42 PM
It gets better.I am 40 just but not too tired yet. And if I am there is always cialis 🤣🤣🤣🤣 | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/09/23 03:35 PM
It gets better.Absolutely, spot on. I waited a year to date, worked on myself alot physically and mentally. Made sure my job, kids and living situation was sorted too. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/09/23 02:35 PM
It gets better.Oh were not in a relationship just spent the weekend together. I am not saying to go into another relationship at all. I think I will probably be single forever lol but it's more that you will still have fun, get laid etc... being divorced isn't the end of life. In my own experience when I first started facing the reality of it. My life felt over and that I would never be happy again. But I am happier then ever now. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/09/23 02:16 PM

Found out today my ex is already on dating sitesI had to live with my ex for a while till she got her own place and when we first separated I was in my room on my birthday crying and she got mad at me for it. I told her off sorry this makes you feel guilty that I am sad about this but you should. Of course when she would cry I was the one at fault 🙄. | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/09/23 08:08 AM
Found out today my ex is already on dating sitesHey you're lucky it's two months... mine started a week after we separated. The truth is that woman end the relationship along time before they say it, and by the time they become vocal about it, they have already moved on. While for us we don't let go until after it ends. I wanted my marriage over years before we divorced but because of the kids I wasn't willing to let it go. Once I found out she was already seeing someone else it was pretty easy to let it go though. | 3 | Should I ruin my life for the sake of my children?Literally what I did... I moved to Europe, left all my friends everything to be close to my kids. It's been hard at times but as someone who grew up with out a dad this is the most important thing I can do. I chose to have kids so it's my responsibility to take care of them. I found a way to make ot work and while I miss friends my kids will always come first. And my ex is not a good parent she loves her kids but she doesn't raise them and teach them so they need me even more. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/09/23 08:42 PM
Tips on dating after divorceYes I have 3 kids 17 , 13 and 8. I have them quite a bit and people are still interested in you. What does get difficult is if you have a few people you're seeing... | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/09/23 05:31 PM
Sex after divorceDepends on the partner, I've had a few amazing partners and a few duds. But one of the things I enjoy about being single is that I have a bunch of variety now. I take care of my self and we should all focus on that, work out, get a good skin care routine, dress nice, get a good barber and hairstyle. You're single again enjoy it, dating has never been easier with apps. For a while I internally complained because sex was probably the one thing that kept us together for 15 years. But I've been plea… | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/09/23 11:28 AM
| 2 | Getting over anger. Thanks good perspective on it. A side note is I am not upset about the divorce at all. I am the happiest I have been in years. A combo of sobriety, being out of a toxic situation, and a host of other good things that have happened have made my life much better. It's just this one thing I can't seem to get over and I just want to be able to let it go. But what you're saying is right.
