But at least he will be laughing all day.

Say what you will about the redpill, but it helped me come to terms with the reality of my terrible marriage and to understand that all of my sacrifices would never lead to any happiness or respect. I have been divorced for over a year now, and I was the one who filed. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It was worth the expense and hardship. Like many of the men on here, I took a huge financial hit, and it will take me years to recover. I have an old car and a small house, but I’m so much…

3 or so years. I stayed longer than I should have because we have a special needs child. Things just got worse, the disrespect increased, and I suspected an affair.

It’s been over six months since I moved into my own house. I wake up with a smile every morning, knowing that my day will not be filled with criticism, insults, and overall anxiety being under the same roof as my ex-wife.

This is one of the most upsetting and sad posts I’ve seen in a long time. There is such a high probability that OP’s life is going to be absolutely ruined. It’s like watching a slow motion train wreck, where there is still time to remove the car from the tracks and save himself, but he most likely won’t do it.

I'm in SC. Our final settlement agreement was finalized in April of 2022, but the final hearing isn't until Jan 10. We're both filing separately this year and forever after. As far as I know, you would have provided any tax documents during discovery. After a certain point, she can't ask to see any of your personal documents unless defined in the agreement. In our agreement, my ex can request to see the balance of our kids' 529 accounts.

How do you treat enemies of your children's best interests? You treat them with ruthless efficiency. Best line I've read on this sub in a while.

Yes, I have my son on my company benefits, but I have to pay for the ex's insurance out of pocket. Right after I posted the previous comment, I heard back from my lawyer, and the final hearing is in January. Just December and January left to pay for health insurance, and then she's on her own. Stay strong, brother!

I did speak to HR at my company about this and if you are legally separated or divorced you cannot have your ex-wife on your benefits. It might be different in your state. My separation agreement has me on the hook to pay my ex-wife‘s insurance until we have the final hearing. My lawyer submitted the paperwork so I’m just waiting for a hearing date.

It’s over, mate. She is seeing someone else, and don’t kid yourself and think it’s just an emotional affair. Get out now.

This is what I did. I gave her a lump sum from the sale of the house to her family. It turns out her pension (NYC teacher) was worth a lot so we called it a wash and she didn’t get any of my 401k. I also got to keep my crypto and a few other investments. So I walk away with a little over 100k in cash and will only pay 2K/month in child support.

Yes I was debating whether to send her a text to wish her a happy Mother's Day, but decided against it. I had the kids yesterday until 5 pm. I've been battling a stomach bug so thankfully I can just lay in bed and run back and forth from the toilet without having to worry about someone being "annoyed" that I'm sick.

Yes. Mine worked out but the legal fees drained what little money we had after her spending. It takes a lot of courage to make the decision and take action. In-laws you loved will come to hate you, people will talk shit, you’ll feel anxious as hell. I know everyone says it, but you have to hear it: get a good lawyer. Even if you have don’t have the money and have to put 20k on a credit card. This is your life; and your wife, family, her friends, and her lawyer will not just let you walk away eas…

It doesn’t matter if she wants to go back to work or not, the point is that she can so I think most states will definitely impute her earning potential. Get a good lawyer. I can’t stress how important this is. I had a bad one who had me on the ropes from the very beginning and then I switched it up and it completely turned the tides in my favor. I walked out of mediation in good shape.

My wife hasn’t worked for a couple years but we had both agreed that she would remain available for our special needs daughter as she requires a lot of rides to go to appointments and therapies. We just had mediation last week and they did impute her income for a salary of a teacher with a masters degree and 10+ years experience for when she goes back to work next year. So about 60k in our state. I make 3 times that so I agreed to pay her a lump sum in alimony and then monthly child support so s…

5 months into the separation. We are still trying to negotiate alimony and child support between lawyers. The daily stress and anxiety of being in a house with her is gone. I have the kids a few days a week but I work long hours. Today she found out I had transferred the rest of our savings to another account and flipped. I said "you've spent 17k of our savings since the separation for legal fees and house repairs. I need to ensure the bills get paid until this is finalized." She didn't respond …

I don't know what my annual bonus or commission is going to be, but there's no way in hell she's getting any of that. I'll take it all the way to trial if I have to.

Well, I'm not accepting it so we just got a mediation date in April. My lawyer is going to put together a counterproposal in the next week or so.

How much were you paying? Did she marry a wealthy man? I always hear that most women won't remarry to keep the alimony going.

Her laywer presented me with a proposed final settlement of combined 58% of my take home salary for CS/SS, but my new lawyer says that's not happening. We refused to pay non-modifiable or permanent alimony and now the lawyers have to get on the phone and chat. It's tricky because she has a master's degree and 15 years of experience as a teacher, but we have a special needs child who requires a lot of services and driving to and from, so the STBX hasn't been working for 2 years. My lawyer says sh…

I checked out that sub for a while but I felt like it was a bit too intense for me. I’m happy that guys are seeing progress, but I realized after a while that my marriage was beyond repair - No matter how much I improved myself and controlled I hoe I interacted with my STBX. The best lesson is of course STFU. Once I learned how to do that, it really changed the power dynamic and I stop letting things get to me. But even after a year of that, there is only so much you can take.

After I particularly unacceptable argument, I left for two days and stayed with my dad. I found an apartment within that week and moved out about two weeks later. We’ve been separated since October and the lawyers are working out the agreement now. I understand that people say you should stay in your home, but in my situation, there was no way I would’ve mentally survived if I had stayed in the house waiting for things to be sorted out. As soon as I looked her straight in the face and said I was…

Wow, I can't believe she found someone so quickly. When I told my sister I was leaving my STBX, she said something like "don't be surprised if she starts dating someone before the ink is dry."

I know everyone says you shouldn’t leave the house, but it depends on your situation. In my state, you can’t file for divorce until 12 months after you are living at separate addresses. When I made the decision, I didn’t want to wait a second longer. if I had stayed in the house, the level of disrespect would’ve reached new levels and I just wasn’t going to take the risk of what could happen- and I couldn’t stand for my kids to see that as an example of what a marriage or relationship was. At th…

I’m grateful that my in-laws are buying me out of the house! This has taken such a load off my mind. We still have to finalize the division of assets but it’s pretty easy from here. I really didn’t want to have to force the sale of the house. But I just couldn’t afford to support two households for another year or two until she goes back to work. I’m waiting to hear what her lawyer proposes for alimony and child support. She also wants 50-50 custody. We have a special needs child so I’m fine wit…

If the husband pushes for counseling it often confirms to the wife that you’re the bitchy simp for whom she has already lost respect. This was my experience and the same for two of my married guy friends. Perhaps it works for some couples, but I personally have never heard of it improving or saving a marriage. It often just delays or even accelerates the inevitable. And most counselors are so blue pill conditioned that they tend to take the woman’s side and assert that the husband has to try har…

You say it yourself in the letter that open communication didn't work and that you burdened her with sharing too much. Then you list a few ways in which she wronged you, or how things could have been and how you hoped they would be. What do you hope to achieve from sending this to her? If you're trying to make her understand anything, or because you feel guilty/sad about how things turned out; guess what? She doesn't give a shit. Do you want to open up a new dialogue about your feelings and wher…

I could get normally $500-600 Thanks for responding. You'd mean earn that per month or week? Did you do both Uber eats and the regular taxi service?

How was that? I have a great corporate job that pays well but with alimony and the rest, I'm worried it will be too tight. We don't have the final settlement yet, and my lawyer told me NOT to take a second job before the divorce is final. I thought about doing Uber the nights I don't have the kids. How many hours a week do you do it and what does it pay? I love driving around in general.

I had been miserable for years but stayed because our youngest is autistic and requires a lot of services and care. On Labor Day she went to a BBQ with a few other couples and my son, and drank and hung out all day while I watched our daughter. We had a minor argument when she got back to the house, but it was nothing major. She suddenly got very upset and then called me a “worthless N-word” in front of the kids. I grabbed my keys and left for 2 days and then moved out 2 weeks later to an apartm…

After a really inexcusable name-calling session in front the children, I packed up some stuff and left for two days. I returned and declared my intention to divorce and found an apartment within that week. I still had to stay for another two weeks and we worked out a temporary arrangement. But I live in South Carolina so the clock does not start ticking until one person physically moves out then you can file after a year- unless you can prove infidelity. I have suspected my wife for sometime, bu…

Hey man! I’m leaving my wife after years of discord and disrespect. I move into an apartment tomorrow a few miles down the street. I have one 6 year son and an autistic 5 year old daughter. I stayed for couple years even after she refused marriage counseling and thought I just had to suck it up for the kids; but when the arguments and insults continued in front of the little ones, I realized it was never going to get better. It would scar them to see two parents who loathed each other. To be the…
