What sort of legal protection wouldtl that be?

I waited for a long time to find someone I clicked with well enough to settle into a ltr. Took a LONG time. Like, I was sure I was never going to be in a long term relationship. Now we’ve hit ten years in Oct 23.

Good luck with that! I think you hit the nail on the head. Live your life doing the things you love. The relationship thing will fall into place.

Why is a woman “stunningly brave” being single exactly?

It is an almost daily occurrence for some man to be rude to me, treat me less than, sarcastic responses, condescending responses, tell me I am wrong then parrot back my answer as his….the list goes on. It is just something that men were taught and have internalized this mentality that women are less than…physically, mentally, capability… Most men dont even think that what they say is wrong in any way. Then, when you correct them or explain how their response is rude, offensive, hurtful, or conde…

Shame. They consider what they do (or want to do) to be sinful/shameful. Therefore by wanting them, they feel shame, which is shown by anger towards them.

Based on your post and various comments on this thread, me thinks there is quite a bit of projection going on from your side. Just sayin’. I am a woman with a lot of experience. Most of my opinions about men have been formed from years of personal experience and observation. I was in the military, so I got a lot of up-close experience and observations. I also was a Sexual Assault Counselor for a Rape Crisis Hotline. Of the many, many relationships I have had, I don't remember a single one that e…

The fact that you use the word “court” and think women are “playing hard to get” says that you are not doing it right. Woman playing “hard to get” = woman is not interested

Ah. Like racism and white people, men don’t even realize they have these thoughts. Our society is so permeated with these attitudes, they are not even aware of them unless they are smacked square in the face with them. Even men I admire, men I love, show these attitudes without thinking. And when I bring them up, it is like they have been poleaxed. Mostly they think I am overreacting. Seeing things that are not there. I wish.

However, have you lived such a sheltered life that you don't know that verbal confrontations can and often do lead to physical ones with strangers? Sheltered life? Hardly. And stepping in doesn’t have to be a “confrontation.” Even distracting the person who is behaving badly can help ease the tension and get a person to back down. Talking to the person loudly, so that there are more eyes on the situation can also work. There are also all sorts of de-escalation techniques a person can employ. Whi…

Oh now...there it is. Instead of acknowledging that what I experienced was wrong and that things need to change, you lash out. Instead, I just need to suck it up and stop playing the victim. You, sir, are part of the systemic problem and missed the point of this entire discussion.

Special treatment? Huh. I don't remember any special treatment. Believe me, I would have loved that. Went into the military at age 20, where no man stood up for me. And when men behaved badly? Other men gaslit me into thinking it was all my fault. And when I went to those whose responsibility it was to take my colleagues to task for their bad behavior? They rolled their eyes and told me to get over it. And the other men who were around for the bad behavior? Looked the other way or lied about it.…

Lap dog? I’m confused. Are you saying that you think that women want to spoil men and then pick up their shit? I thought that is what incels want women to do?

You’re leaping to a physical confrontation if you’re using “protector” as a determination of a person speaking up when they see problematic behavior. That might be your own bias. I believe it is the responsibility of each human being to speak up if something is problematic. That looks different every single time it happens. A “protector” can be anyone. Any person. Any age, any sex, any gender. My examples were pulling from the fact that I have seen hundreds more examples of men behaving badly th…

Paranoidexboyfriend’s entire reply. Gender roles? Who said anything about gender roles? I’m saying, if you see someone acting inappropriately, say something. If you see some guy pinch the waitress’ ass, say something. And yes. It goes the other way too. I don’t know who you are hanging out with, but if I see someone harassing someone else, I say something. Been doing it my whole life. Taught my kid the same thing. And you bet your bottom dollar she says something if she sees someone being harass…

Oh, for fuck’s sake. Stop with the lame excuses. I wouldn’t expect another man to step in front of me to take a damn punch. Or to get in a fight for me. But what about at least telling another man he is out of line? How about telling another man that the sexist joke is not cool? How about not looking the other way? It’s a little harder to be a jerk when everyone is staring at you. There are a thousand little things that you can do to support women that don’t require you to go to jail.

Be yourself. Live your life. Ask someone out. If they say yes, cool. If not, move on. Same advice for both men and women.

I had to read that twice. We do not live in the 1800s. I don't know where you live, but I live in the US. I am white and middle class. While there are cultures/countries where there are still arranged marriages, I think it begs to say that arranged marriages are not in the majority where I live. I know that there are people out there who would find that type of arrangement perfectly acceptable. There are demis and asexual folks, (probably more orientations than that, but you get the picture), wh…

While it is unfortunate that the knee jerk reaction is to tell a woman to leave their SO if she is really struggling with problems within a relationship. And relationships are hard. If you are not mature enough or go through some things, you might not have the interpersonal skills that help you work through problems with you partner. At the same time, I find it disturbing that you think that this happens so often to women. Leaving a relationship is usually hard. For both sides, if it was a ltr. …

Sometimes it is their upbringing. Sometimes it is a physiological reaction (fight-flight-freeze). Sometimes it is a lack of understanding of how to deal with it (socially). Sometimes it is because she is afraid of the man’s reaction to her “rejection.” There are lots of reason why.
