Through the course of dating, the differences started to pop up. I’m conservative. She’s liberal. I’m black. She’s asian. I’m Christian. She’s an atheist. At the beginning I wasn’t dating explicitly for marriage, but wanted to focus on exploring things long-term and seeing where they went. OK, so why are you here, asking internet strangers if you should marry this great girl, when the children she will give you won't 'look like you and your parents' among these other reasons you've listed? The a…

6 years, huh? My concern is that my wife will change her perspective on me due to these circumstances... With all of your medical issues, this is what you're worried about? You need to revisit the sidebar.

Why should I care - what do I or my kids gain from it? The bigger question is why do you care so much? You're just using your hypothetical, future 'non-black children' as an excuse. If you know you want 'black' kids you shouldn't be interracially dating and considering non-black women for marriage, you fucking idiot.

I'm not dark skinned. My wife is Japanese. My kids aren't seen as 'black,' nor do I care if others identify them as black or Japanese for that matter.

I'm black. Wife is Asian. Kids look like me, because they're mine. They look like her, too. You need better excuses.

My feeling is if I let this go, she’s going to continue being disrespectful in the long term in public and that’s not something I want in a relationship. I don’t have a fear of letting her go, I just want to make sure this is not an example of me being a bitch ass dude. Too late, homie. I will drop her right now though if this is truly a sign of disrespect and I’m not deemed to be an overreacting idiot. Lol. "I'm red pilled (I promise). Convince me to get married." No, thanks, but I'll comment on the most glaring point: After hitting a rough patch with my LTR, I realized that it really does seem that outside of sex and potentially having kids my LTR really has noting to offer me, no loyalty in the down times, not help in stressful times, she does not cook, she does not clean etc etc. There will always be rough times. What's most concerning is that this particular women isn't loyal, not helpful to yo…

OYS 61 Me 30y| Wife 34y | 4 Kids (6,4,2, infant) Banged my elbow doing cleans inside a power rack. Lesson learned: don’t do cleans inside a fucking power rack. I’ve been able to progress my squats and bench. It’s quite simple: if I fail on the last rep of the last set, I redo the weight in the next session. The same for when my form is bad or, I just feel I need to spend another session with the weight before progressing. For example, on squats I spent the last 3-4 weeks focusing on form with 31…

Thanks. I no longer have to spank or yell. I popped my youngest today on the bum, for a legitimate reason, but even that is becoming rare. As odd as it may sound, part of my change has been to ask myself how I would feel if I lost one of my kids. I do not want memories of me being an abrasive and a borderline abusive father. Whenever I get angry at them, I try to put their actions into perspective, I seek to understand and I actively listen. I failed to listen to my second-eldest son a lot, and …

OYS 60 Me 30y| Wife 34y | 4 Kids (6,4,2, infant) Budgeting is going smoothly and wife is onboard and actively assisting. I no longer have to tell her to input her purchases; despite her initial protests of ‘not having enough time.’ This recent shift has caused me to start tracking my investments/trades much more closely and become very detail-oriented and nitpicky. I usually avoid details, so this presents an excellent opportunity for me to improve a weakness. I am starting to challenge my own t…

OYS 59 Me 30y| Wife 34y | 4 Kids (6,4,2, infant) Week started off rocky with my plans of filling the gaps of the items I listed last week. I was able to get quite a lot done as I finished my Daughters’ passport and citizenship paperwork and schedule an appointment later this month, set up a Monthly budget spreadsheet on Google Sheets, and made progress on my wife’s visa. Monthly budgeting started off rocky as I thought involving my wife would be a good idea. I mentioned last week that she receiv…

Posted in wrong OYS... OYS 58 Me 30y| Wife 34y | 4 Kids (6,4,2, infant) Was able to get over some mental hurdles concerning my squat form. Deeper squats and more explosive movement out of the bottom. I feel more muscle activation, as in I feel more muscles being used in my legs. I’ll be taking things a lot slower, too, increasing in 5lbs increments. Bench and pull are progressing. I’m 5kg away from a 200kg (440lbs) pull for 3 sets of 5, I’m excited about hitting those numbers soon. I’m, without …

I've realized I've been LARPING being red pilled too much, and trying to impress guys on here. I need to cut out the 'locker room' talk and write like I really speak to to other men in real life. In truth, I should be open that I have my own views that I am working on, and the lives and relationships of veterans on here just don't sound appealing at all to me. Solid realization and shift in frame.

Mission/Goals: Live a free and authentic life. What does this look like? Have you mentally mapped this out and visioned it? Not a suggestion, but one reason I leave out my mission/purpose on my OYS is because I couldn't express it all in just a few sentences. I felt that it didn't do it justice to plop a few sentences on my OYS for the sake of just having it there.

Getting in early this week. OYS 57 Me 30y| Wife 34y | 4 Kids (6,4,2, infant) Getting better sleep, thanks to forcing myself into bed to get 7.5+. On my days off, I sleep in, and take naps when I can. “Why We Sleep” is a book I recommend to anyone who thinks they’re okay with getting less than 8 hrs of shut eye. OYS 56 Me 30y| Wife 34y | 4 Kids (6,4,2, infant) Test results on my bloodwork came back clean. I’ve cycled off Creatine, in the meantime, and haven’t seen any major impact to my strength or weight. I did lose a pound, but I attribute that more to the fact that my diet has been tighter this week, than it had in the past. Had no caffeine the past few days and did not have any cravings or withdrawal. I’m drinking more tea at work and decaf at home, when I can. I’ve made sure that I’m getting at lea…

Fuck you were drinking a lot. A bottle of red = a bottle of johnny walker red label, I assume? Interesting take on comparing drinking to smoking. I'm an ex-smoker and I get sick if I even smell cigarette smoke, now. Do you get the same reaction from alcohol? Back to me: I got good results back from my check-up and just to be sure, the doc ran some more blood work which came back clean. Still, the affect of putting shit in my body has been duly noted. OYS 54 Me 30y| Wife 34y | 4 Kids (6,4,2, infant) Switched up the workout schedule to where I go to the gym on my days off. I took a few extra days off due to some pain/weird feeling I got in my upper-right/liver region when deadlifting last Thursday. I still don’t know what caused it but I know a few things that may have contributed to it: It could have been an issue with my liver, as I’ve been taking a lot of sups (multi-vitamins, creatine, pre-workout, post-workouts). I recently cut back on ca…

I'd like to rephrase my question: why should she, or anyone else for that matter, value your time? You may have to look at how available you are. Make yourself scarce by getting to work on your mission/purpose, hobbies, hanging with buddies, etc. Sounds like you're already in the right mental space by moving on when she turns you down.

BP 135 BBR 135 SQ 135 DL 145 OHP 90 What's up with these lifts? Are these in KG? I'm guessing not, since you listed your body weight in lbs. From your mental section, it sounds like you're in everyone else's head, giving a fuck about what these people think of you. Get in your head that no one gives a fuck and why should they? OYS 54 Me 30y| Wife 34y | 4 Kids (6,4,2, infant) Squat has drastically improved due to squatting more and focusing on depth, breathing, and form. Squatting 3 plates for sets of 5 with good form, now, and I’m happy to be getting stronger and seeing real results. Depth is an area I still need to improve on. Squatting twice a week, now. I only see one way of accomplishing my goals and bringing my dreams to fruition: put in the work. If this place has taught me anything, it has taught me you get out what you put in, and change takes time. I'm forever grateful. With the kids, it's tough. I try to see it from their perspective has little kids, how I felt when I was 5-years-old, and understand this is just the beginning. Creating a loving and trusting foundation with them while they're young is the key.

OYS 53 Me 30y| Wife 34y | 4 Kids (6,4,2, infant) Lifts are much better this week, except for bench. I’m now squatting twice a week, which has definitely helped, as I feel much stronger and my form has improved. Bench has plateaued, and it probably has a lot to do with how I am lineally progressing. I’ll DB bench on non-bench days to see if this gets me un-stuck. Got a lot of good advice on disciplining my kids last week. Yeah, I am working towards controlling myself enough to where I don't lash out, yell, threaten, or spank them. Do you have expectations and boundaries? Do they know what they are? My guess is that its vague to no. The problem I'm working on isn't about expectations or boundaries, though it is related, this is more about how I react and deal with problems and handle conflict. Spanking and beatings were the norm when I was a child but I decided that I wanted to handle things differently for my kid…

OYS 52 Me 30y| Wife 34y | 4 Kids (6,4,2, infant) Strength is returning. Deadlifted 400 for a solid 3 sets of 5 with no issue. Focusing on form and mental in the gym now. Challenging myself to breakthrough plateaus and get my form damn-near perfect. Especially on my squats. I know it’s my form. Thanks for your reply. My approach was to try to handle this acta non verba and see how she would respond. So far, so good, but I think you raise a solid point here, and exposed something greater: I should be vocalizing good ideas, and letting the chips fall where they may.

OYS 51 Me 30y| Wife 34y | 4 Kids (6,4,2, infant) Back in the gym and it seems that I’ve lost a little bit of strength in the two-week period of when I was de-loading and caring for kids while my wife was in the hospital. Actually, ‘de-loading’ was just me not going to the gym; I should’ve been lifting lighter. It wasn’t all a lost as the time off allowed for the tendonitis, I had in my elbows, to heal and my low back pain went away. Recalibrating my lifts, and getting back into it. I’m trying to…

Sex still on demand, there are really no reasons not to have it when and how I feel like it, except my own BS ... There is still ways to go. I got close to zero enthusiasm, even if the starfish seems wet and happy. It’s fine for now, pleasurable enough and good practice to just focus on what I want. OYS 50 Me 30y| Wife 34y | 4 Kids (6,4,2, infant) Wife had the baby Tuesday morning. I’ve not been in the gym for about 10days, since I am the only one with my kids. I miss the gym. Swinging kettlebells isn't the same. Running around the park playing soccer with my son has been fun, though. OYS 49 Me 30y| Wife 34y | 3 Kids (6,3,2) +1 due this month I may have injured my low back doing pin squats, the other day. I felt a sharp, hot pain in the area and immediately stopped the set. Tried again the next day and the pain is still there when I squat, deeply. I’m deloading this week, so I’ll take the time the rest, heal-up, and correct my form next week. As for your to-do list, this is something I still struggle with. Ultimately, it came down to me being lazy, unmotivated, and having no consequences for not knocking shit off my list. Your "always nuclear" response reveals a beta mentality that fears conflict and open discordance with others' frames so much that it elevates any such event to DEFCON 1. Nowadays, even though it's all played out in my head, I don't like that my thinking defaults to the nuclear option. This is the case in other areas of my life too i.e. Things don't go my way at work -> I daydream of how my workplace/boss will suffer when I leave. I guess the good part is that I finally have begun to recognize th…

Without STFU I don't think I would have the proper foundation for applying the things I've learned (so far) from Stoicism. It makes sense that human beings first response is one of excessive force, but, until now, I was unable to recognize STFU as something that kept newbies like myself from going nuclear.

Crazy thing is, it really disgusted me when she first said it. I don't know what her intention was when she said it, and I really can't be bothered to care longer than I have to, but I suspect that she knows 1) she's losing her control over me, 2) she probably doesn't feel as hot as she used to being 7 months pregnant and mid-30s, while I'm improving in all areas. To your last point, you're spot on and I also now suspect it was an attempt to put me back in "my place" by threatening to give away …

Leadership is one area where I definitely need improvement. My wife has 'walls' up when it comes to being lead and submitting, definitely from the years of me being a drunk captain. I try my best to stay out of her head but when she says shit like this, I can't help but wonder wtf she really means. I still have a lot of fear of fucking this up, cheating, or just being a disappointment. I'm still reactive and in her frame.

Yes, the gym I go to has safety bars. I should've mentioned, now that I think of it, that I had low confidence when it came to repping high weight. This is why I would rep moderately heavy weight for more reps. I've learned to build up to, and exceed my expected weight for the big three. I am following AthleanX's BeAXst program and the current week I am on has me doing 4RM, 8RM, 16RM, 4RM x 2 min. Other than that, Jeff keeps the rep range between 8 - 12 for most workouts.

Maybe giving myself a pass was bad wording. I should say I understand the reasoning for my lack of consistency for the past two - threw weeks. But this week on, I have no excuses. I was using a scapegoat by saying not going to the gym was the problem and ignoring the chocolate chip cookies I ate back home. When was the last time you flew? Yes. Afraid of fucking it up and being assed out. I'm playing it safe and using 'I got mouths to feed' as an excuse not to take risks. Thanks. You didn't say much, but you didn't need to. I can see, now, other areas I need to address.

Current job pays well. I thought my side hustle would be good supplemental income. Plans were to just join a different department. But all of this doesn't really get me to where I see myself. So I've been playing the game by someone else's rules and not my own. Being a 'good' person, trying to not cause too much trouble for my managers and coworkers. But I see now this (working a 9-5) is not going to get me what I want, and I'd end up bitter and full of regret later in life.

The answer I've been purposely avoiding, but think may be the key. I'll work towards putting myself into a better position to leave. Problem is, I don't want to jump ship, and would much rather have my side hustle become my main source of income, but Im a few years (in my guesstimation) from that reality. Or maybe I'm just making excuses?

Very descriptive OYS that lets us know whats going on in your life, but very little of what YOU are doing and thinking. Where are YOUR gaps? What are YOU missing in your day-to-day? Only until the end do you let us know a little bit, by revealing you had an 'emotional bro-moment'. Plus, your 'mould' sucks. What the fuck is this supposed to be anyway? Also, I didn't have to do anything, as horns mentioned. I put undue pressure on myself, and created a covert contract. Her soft 'no' was her saying, "if it'll make you quit bothering me for sex...sure...." Like I said, I would normally bulldoze right through. I followed my gut instinct and backed off. Afterwards, she says that she felt pressured to have sex. She's my wife and I'd rather take a loss than have her feel shitty about fucking me. I'm open to whatever thoughts you may be alluding to in your reply, though.

I got fucking sad just reading this shit dude. Again skipped one week of OYS. It was going to be a victim puke from a validation-seeking beta. Not worth the read. I should have made the effort anyways in order not to forget from where I come. Good for you to come back and read, later down the road, to see the growth. Post anyway, doesn't hurt. And she does not need to change, it is me who has to become better. I was projecting my insecurities on her. ... It has caused troubles in the past and it…

You obviously don't want to let go because you've built your life and identity around this woman. Without her, who are you? That is what I see as one of MRPs greatest gifts. Not getting your wife or LTR to fuck you again. Figuring out who the fuck am I. No one is suggesting you completely wipe your memories,, nor that your life was a lie. Don't expect sympathy from your wife, children, or friends. You walk the path alone. It is lonely. Which is why you must develop the ability to be alone for if the day ever comes where your wife leaves you, your buddies abandon you, or your family disown you. But, as you said, in the face of adversity if a man can rise to the occasion and not be denied, he will be respected and sometimes honored. Countless examples in history--with today being MLK day, this is fitting.

Good shit dude. Glad it worked out for the better... in a way. And I agree with your wife, you got big fucking balls for coming clean, despite having a few 'outs'. Integrity. Manly shit. Keep Pushing.

This has gone sideways. Prior to last OYS, I had given her a draft divorce agreement, and the idea of divorcing was pretty much agreed, with lots of feel good promises about how we’ll always be friends, etc. Why? I am parking the divorce process for now. I can’t imagine marrying again anytime in the foreseeable future, and in my jurisdiction there is no legal downside to letting the clock tick, so no rush. If she wants the divorce, the document is on the table. If not, then I have other things t…

Thank you. Simple yet effective. Yeah, after thinking it over, the moratorium does not really address the core issue, just puts it on the back burner for x amount of months...

Ex-Navy here. Claim your VA shit. Stay ON IT. I was out for 6 years before I got my shit together and got disability. I'm at 60% and every month I get a decent check. The VA doesn't make it easy though. G.I. Bill is a godsend. I squandered so much of that sweet money-- don't you do the same. Luckily, I didn't dick around in school and graduated early. If you're still in, take as many classes as you can to avoid stupid ass class gen-ed classes in college. Don't worry too much about the degree unl…

You talk too damn much. SHUT THE FUCK UP and express your thoughts and boundaries mostly through your actions instead of words. Yeah I agree, I need to rely more on my actions. I thought by trying to communicate, she'd understand but the last convo made me see she doesn't give a rat's ass about what I say/ I am saying. She later came back and asked me what I had said, confirming that it didn't matter to her anyway. Don't get me wrong: this is for me. I was just informing her of my intentions, as…

Thanks. The second link you posted really resonated with me. I have been chasing her validation through sex. Making her squirt, cum, and orgasm was how I could feel better about myself, I guess. I should've recognized this wasn't enough/the solution as the next day was like nothing had occured the night before... She was back to testing and I was having my paper thin frame exposed.

Good. Be proud that it only took one girl to jerk you around before you wised up and decided something's not right. Being a young 20s year old, you got years and years ahead of you, and you've already found TRP. In retrospect, you can now look at this shit show you had going and use these experiences as an example for the next girl you start dating.

Thanks. Spot on about Christmas. I used to be Christian, but a few years ago, I explored other avenues of spirituality and wanted to rid myself completely of anything remotely related to Christianity. I'm now seeing it as more than just the bullshit consumer holiday it has become and more of a thing for my woman to express her feminine in by decorating, baking themed-cookies, etc. I will 'celebrate' from next year, because I want to experience and see the joy it will bring my family. If it turns…

I agree with most of what you're saying except the part where the men are not masculine. Japanese men are masculine in their own right, and this is shit like being focused on their job/purpose, drinking with buddies, and their own little hobbies. For guys/girls here big muscles/gritty western look != Masculinity. You can't compare western masculinity standards to non-western cultures. Because of western media being widely consumed, a lot of women tend to THINK that western guys are more masculin…

I remember when I learned about 'meshi' and 'ashi' when I first came to Japan (8 years ago). 'Meshi' (food) is slang for a guy who takes girls on dinner dates, and 'Ashi' (leg or legs/foot) is slang for a guy who takes girls on trips. The Japanese guy who told me about it said that most girls always have at least one. I remember asking my first Japanese girlfriend about it, and all she could say is that those were 'old' terms (I was her 'meshi'--dropped the bitch soon after I realized this). I g…

Finally someone with some sense. They play subservient and then turn into the BIGGEST pains in the ass. Look at the articles of knucklehead western men caught up in international divorces and custody battles and you'll see how truly cruel your meek and gentle Asian princess can be.
