Rape in the US is almost always prosecuted at the state level (unless there is some extenuating circumstance), and states have different laws. Just how different states define the varying degrees of murder and manslaughter differently, they also are separate on the types of sexual assault/rape.

I mean, women ARE underrepresented in those areas. That's an undeniable fact. The cause of that discrepancy is complex, though. Discrimination might be a part of it (upper management is disproportionately older people, who are more likely to actually be sexist), but women's life choices are also a factor. They're less likely to go to business school and more likely to end their careers early to start a family.

I think he means legitimate in that they can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. If I read that right he thinks there are more actual rapes than that, but they are convicted under a lower burden of proof since the evidence for rape is often indistinguishable from the evidence for consensual sex.

If one of them got themself and the other person drunk for the sole purpose of convincing them to have sex, then there is the criminal intent. This is largely how I feel about gay rights and Trans rights. No matter how often they get lumped together, they are separate battles. There is significant overlap, and both groups deserve their rights, but the best way to do it is having two focused movements that ally with each other when it is mutually beneficial. Smaller groups with narrow goals are better at achieving them than huge movements that try to be everything to everyone.

I believe the way a lack of anonymity helps police investigations is this: take person X, who was raped by an unknown person who police could never identify. Person Y is also raped by this criminal, but gets caught. Putting his picture in the newspaper makes it more likely that X will realize that they were raped by the same person, and can come forward with the evidence.

The problem is that not enough information on these judges is given out to make an informed decision. In my county judges are elected, but I usually leave them blank because I don't know enough to make an informed decision. Most other people just vote on party lines. I would love to see debates between candidates to help me decide, or have judges be appointed and subject to confirmation.

Thing is, implied consent is valid. Your partner doesn't need to say "yes, I consent to this sexual act". Things like kissing you, touching your nether regions, etc are rightly considered to imply consent. Feminists need to understand that taking precautions isn't blaming the victim, it is being sensible. If I wear a tuxedo and Rolex while walking around Bed-Stuy at night, I might not be responsible for myself getting mugged. Responsibility still rests squarely on the muggers.
