if feminists don't have a hive mind, then where do they get all of their responses from, being that they are always identical? What, you mean like how there are gender equality feminists and there are the sexist man-hating feminists and the two groups are basically totally different? Im being trollish, but really I want an answer to the above question. Please do. for ex/ when I have honestly engaged in debate with feminists, and for ex, tried to explain my views on their base assumption of patri…

Please elaborate? Also feminists aren't one monolithic entity with a hive-mind. If you made some sort of arrangement with one individual feminist that doesn't count as a binding contract to anyone else who also happens to be a feminist.

Problem is that they are the same group of people looking to have fun as when 4chan formed. It wasn't so bad when they were teenage virgins living at their parents house...but now they are grown up virgins living at their parents house it's gotten a little pathetic.

That's all a lie, ma'am. And if someone were suggesting the same motives to justify modifying your genitals, you'd be screaming "genital mutilation" and "female circumcision". The fact you think doing the same to men but not to women is disgusting and vile sexism and you should be ashamed of yourself. People like you are the reason feminism is now synonymous with sexism.

I'm a woman, and a feminist. I just discovered the Men's Rights subreddit, and I love it. It's really great and refreshing to see guys basically rooting for the same causes that I am and bringing into question sexist stereotypes of our society. Greetings and welcome. I've been an activist for several men's rights causes (as well as women's) including custody rights for fathers, negative portrayal of men in popular media, and ending the bullying brought on by guys not living up to outdated and ri…

While I totally believe that 25% of women are raped in their lifetime, I really don't believe that 25% of men are rapists either, and it's also really not what the statistic is saying. So who did the raping? A recent study of campus rape found that most of the rapes were committed by a small handful of men, who were repeat rapists. I think that's likely true of society in general-- a few men rape proportionally many women. Perhaps people should point out that only a few men are rapists and focus…

Which branch or branches of feminism are you referring to? I am referring to feminism as a whole. That's like referring to Christianity as a whole or economists as a whole. Feminists are individuals and there are many 'varieties' of feminism as well. I think it is safe to say that the popular opinion of /r/MensRights is that feminism has no legitimate reason to exist. No, it's not safe to say that. It would be safe to say that people in /r/mensrights protest feminism being used as an excuse or a justification for practicing sexism against men. Just like people over in /r/atheism mi…

Yeah you posted a headline to make /r/mensrights look like MRA's are anti-women. What did you think would happen? You have a bunch of the MRA's you slandered angry at you, and you have a bunch of feminists lapping it up and believing every word. Well f#cking done. It's not "attack of the feminists" it's karma reminding you it's a bitch.
/r/MensRights30/07/10 05:51 AM
6

(sigh) MRA's are trying to restore men to equal standing in western society rather than being second-class citizens with lesser legal rights, less opportunities, and burdened with various social stigmas like "all men are violent", and "all men are rapists". The struggle for men's rights is not about denying women's rights at all, and the only people who say that are the faction of feminists who think that feminism means opposing men's rights. So, please stop pretending MRA's are opposed to women…
/r/MensRights30/07/10 05:48 AM

If you cared one bit about men you'd realise that it is the reason men aren'd equal with women and why there's a men's rights movement to fight for gender equality rather than leaving men as second class citizens...or in other words it is the answer to your own question.
/r/MensRights30/07/10 02:57 AM

Stop calling women who enjoy sex sluts or whores. I don't do that, or know any man who does that. Some of my female coworkers say that about other women though. You shouldn't blame the victims of false rape accusations for the actions of their accusers, and if you must blame the victim please try to have a decent justification for it.

I meant in-general more than just this specific case. If a person (not just a woman) needs to do something like driving without a license to escape or to defend themselves from a crime (not just rape or DV) then there should be special leniency for it. And not just "to defend against a crime", if someone needs to drive themselves or someone else to hospital then that'd apply to IMHO.

No. Murder is the killing of any human person. On this we will have to disagree. Okay. which is also how the actions of soldiers are justified. And I despise that justification with all my soul. Wait, isn't killing in self defence your argument why this women was justified to kill her abusive husband? Nonono. The husband already sacrificed his personhood. That's dangerous ground. "Murder" is the killing of an innocent human person, no? No. Murder is the killing of any human person. The only exception is in self-defense, which is also how the actions of soldiers are justified. In murdering or abusing, one surrenders his own personhood by way of not caring about personhood. I don't agree personally, but am just bringing up the point that if you apply that to them both, then both are guilty of the same thing. The husband abused the wife and didn't care about her personhood.…

A person who has no respect for the lives and wellbeing of others does not deserve to have their life or wellbeing respected. It's relevant because people point to these TFL loonies and their delusions and sexism and say "they are typical MRA's". I consider it quite important to break that assosciation so that legitimate men's rights issues won't be dismissed as sexism and conspiracy theories. For instance this is the sort of crowd Aerik thinks are typical of the men's rights movement and males in general.

That's what feminists say but not what they do in practice. Same goes for MRA's. Why? Because both are operating from a world-view that their gender is always the persecuted one and the other is always privelaged. So even if provided clear and obvious proof that their preferred gender is not the victim...they won't start supporting the other they will shift attention to something else. For example where are the feminsts who support fathers having custody rights or even child visitation privelage…

/r/MensRights01/06/10 02:42 AM

That sounds like a good approach and starting-point and it sounds like you've got a good chance of really getting to the bottom of this. Too many attempts to grapple with this issue (pay inequality and workplace inequality) just falls to short-term gender-infighting and bickering. The usual "us verses them" mentality between feminists and MRA's, and no actual gender-equality approach can take place. Here at my workplace we've had men fired for reporting being sexually harassment by female coworkers. It's not uncommon here in Australia that no matter the situation, the man involved always automatically faces the punishment and reprimand, even if they were the victim.

The problem, ristin, with your reflexive male-as-über-victim worldview is that by assuming you have no rights, you remain ignorant of the rights you do have. If you don't know your rights, they will get trampled -- badly. Instead of retreating into the lazy stupor of self-victimization of feminist-bashing, fucking empower yourself -- and if something like what happened to your co-worker should happen to you, show them you know exactly what your fucking rights are! Actually my approach is to look…

Your caricature of feminism as an "openly sexist movement working towards creating gender inequality" is inaccurate as it is unoriginal. That is a lie, cryptogirl. My description of the feminist movement is not inaccurate. We have all seen feminist lobbying and the results of it for mens legal and civil rights. And similarly it is not inaccurate for me to say "you are a liar, cryptogirl" based on, well, your lie there. In fact, were it not for feminist activism, men would have no legal protectio…

I advocate gender equality. As such I oppose feminism since it is a openly sexist movement working towards creating gender inequality. One might even call feminism a hate group. That is the reason I do not support feminism. What some elements of the feminist movement think about peace or efforts to work towards peace will not change the fact that the feminist movement is still working to create gender inequality and to persecute half of the population merely for being male. Feminists work to cut…

Every time I read this subreddit i get depressed can you post some men's rights victories. That would require one or more men's rights victories to have occurred. (belated edit) There have been some attempts to address the inequality of custody laws and so-on. Few and far between but at least the issue of father's rights (or the lack thereof) is getting some attention.

I posted those links to show that feminists are directly involved in issues of war and peace. I think they make for a pretty compelling proof of just that point. So take it up with the OP. Why are you telling me?
/r/MensRights20/04/10 10:47 PM

Please read what I posted rather than twisting my words. I said that I am all for peace, right there in the previous comment. I just cautioned that the links you provided could be used to argue for the OP's second point, NOT that I agreed with the OP's second point. I stated earlier that I didn't think that feminists would be directly involved because the issue they concentrate upon is not linked to war and/or collaboration.
/r/MensRights20/04/10 08:44 PM

That is a very important point, most women would be disgusted by the hateful and sexist agenda of feminists. But feminists say loudly that they speak for and represent all women. It's a lot like evangelical christians claiming to speal for all christianity (And for god) when once again, the people they claim to represent would be horrified by that agenda.

Based on their current conduct during the so-called "war on terror" the feminists totally ignored it (the "enemy") and continued pushing for legislation that strips men of their rights, continued to demonize all men as rapists and as stupid brutes, portrayed fathers as irrelevant and unnecessary, ensure men are no longer "innocent until proven guilty" is accused of DV or rape or assault (or basically any crime that woman might acuse a man of) and so on. You are misstating what feminism is. Feminism is about equality. No. It's really not. But I wish it were. Feminism as feminism is not hostile to men. Some branches of it are, true. Most are not. Is that so? Well then, show me some feminists contradicting the man-hating element of feminism. That would show that there are feminists (and elements of feminism) that don't activly support the anti-male message synonomous with feminism. That, my friends, is a great example of a "strawman" where the opposition argues a point I didn't make. It's what you said in your own comments. Feminist here! I don't hate men, and I certainly don't blame all men for problems, not even for the problems of the patriarchy. That is a contradiction in terms. Feminists say men are sex-driven, inherantly prone to violence and rape, and not as intelligent as women...and any attempt to contradict that is called 'sexism'. How can you openly claim to be part of the feminist movement and then claim to oppose said movements stated goals and ideology? For example the feminist movement has spent deca…

Your response to the OP's list was: Your list is absolutely worthless without documentation. And you provided not one shred of documentation about your all-men-are-reckless-drivers claim. What a stupid question. Why would a man-hating feminist try to date a man in the first place? And why place the blame for their sexism and bigotry onto the victims of their sexism and bigotry? And if there is a feminist who wants to date a man then maybe they should try not blaming all men for all problems and all the other usual hate-speech feminists spout against men.
/r/MensRights19/04/10 05:25 AM

...you sexist jerk. So you accuse all men of dangerous driving and being the cause of road accidents, then disregard the previous point about men getting prostate cancer and pretend only women get cancer? Yeah, I know. See, I am trying to cast light on the situation. There are many ways that men are second class citizens socially and legally. But it's hard to raise that in a debate without people screaming "omg sexist against women!". So why not try playing the victim? It works so well for feminism even though women have greater rights and greater opportunities in most areas. Something like that. It's a clumsy attempt, I know, but the idea is interesting I think.

The judicial system doesn't throw such justifications out. For example in the USA a woman can legally kill a man in 'self defense' if the man is trying to rape her. And of course, if you have a woman with a smoking gun standing over a dead man...she says "it was attempted rape" and it probably won't even get to court. Similarly with domestic violence accusations. If a wife kills her husband and claims domenstic violence...it's a iron-clad defense. Anyway, since such things aren't thrown out now …
/r/MensRights25/03/10 11:05 PM

We're well aware that the law no longer protects men in any way, shape or form. For example accusing the deceased man of attempting to rape or attempting domestic violence (which by definition only women can be victims of, and men can only be perpetrators not victims) justifies killing the man 'in self defense'. No evidence required. Why even bother pretending it's a crime to abuse or murder men anyway? Why require the always-accepted excuses like "it was attempted rape" or "it was domestic viol…

Yes. For example we have two at work whose actions towards male staff (myself included) easily count as workplace harassment. The last man that complained about their insults and put-downs got fired instead of helped. Not only is such behavior by women common, it is also encouraged and defended. If women do this on a regular basis -- and I really want to believe that they don't -- then they have no right whatsoever to complain about misogyny. It's normal now. I've seen men get harassed because a woman thought he was looking in her direction, much less trying to initiate a conversation.
/r/MensRights12/03/10 08:46 PM
37

Yes. Her automatic reaction of "a man is talking to me therefore he wants to have sex with me, and will try to rape me if I don't consent" is the problem here. A man should have the right to speak in public, contrary to the beliefs of mainstream feminism.
/r/MensRights12/03/10 08:38 PM

I am observing that sometimes Feminists who come here are being downvoted. This is a bad idea. It discourages respectful discourse, and will drive those people away when we might be able to use logic to change their minds about gender and rights. You have that backwards. Feminists interested in repectful discourse are not downvoted. Feminists here to spew sexism and revel in their hatred of men get downvoted. Just like anyone here for reasonable discussion will be treated reasonably and anyone h…

That the gender of the unborn child should have no influence on the decision to abort or not abortion...unlike the feminist position that a male child is less worthy of living than a female child and being male is sufficient reason to abort a child with no other medical conditions threatening the child or threatening the mother. I agree. Conversely that advice for MRA's applies to the "we hate men" element of the feminist movement as well. Both movements have their two elements, their progressive (and productive) group and their out-for-revenge group who just make everything worse. And not just them but race-relations groups could learn from that as well. Racial equality doesn't mean hating whites or going for payback. Anyway...What you say is true. It's good advice for all equality movements.

Case in point: http://www.reddit.com/user/alvaspiral/ That's not helping anyone...it just breeds fear and anger on the part of the attacked and also making the other "side" look like attackers. A hurdle for all the people working for gender equality. And basing these issues on gender is not the right approach either I think. Mind if I ask what that evaluation is based on? I hope your dismissal of cryptogirl's capability of supporting men's rights and gender equality isn't based merely on her gender. And while there are biological differences, they shouldn't be used to perpetuate inequality. Equal pay for equal work for instance...if people can do equal work, they deserve equal pay. Or maternity leave. Sure, the issue is based on a biological difference. Only the mother needs maternity leave, but if the father gets (…

I support gender equality. I do my best to do so directly rather than campaigning for either gender. I also am wary of people who claim to be only a feminist or only a men's rights advocate...because both 'sides' of the issue are composed of a genuine "we want equality for our gender" element and a "we hate and want to punish the other gender" element.

One reason is the straw-man arguments like "Why do you hate feminism?". The main reason though is that I support gender equality, not female supremacists, or male supremacists either for that matter.

I am referring to the way posts like this seem to crop up about any source MRA's use. For instance that site Glenstacks recently had a bunch of criticism and calls for it to never be used by MRA's. So, yes, it seems every time people speak up for men's rights, the anti-men crowd say go on the offensive and someone (claiming to really, truely, support gender equality) tells us we can't use that source. I'm just getting a bit cynical after seeing the pattern repeat over and over.

It's not a battle. Or rather, it shouldn't be. The people who actually want gender equality aren't trying to attack the other gender, they are trying to remove the inequalities that are there. The groups now trying to support only one gender? They aren't helping, they're just creating new inequality. So, don't go and 'confirm'. Go try to help both genders rather than trying to hold down the other gender. It's actually not that hard once you get started.

Yes. That is my point exactly. What you say is true, "You can try to work for equality on one side without hating the other side." But in practice that's not how it works, at least not for the majority of people. And even if you can support one 'side' without opposing the other, you still will lose sight of many issues where balance is required. For instance, equal pay for equal work. That got achieved decades ago. But "the wage gap" gets brought up as an inequality issue, even though the wage g…

That's gender equality. The old women's liberation movement and the current MRA's are equivalent, working towards removing inequality against their gender. Current feminism is not women's liberation, it has become male-persecution. There's no way to sugar-coat that. Some people truely support gender equality and falsly claim to be feminist. Fine. That's actually a load of BS. In Western culture divorce is fairly new, only since ol' King Henry. And it was demanded of the husband to provide well for his ex-wife. Divorce has never ever been good for the male in a relationship. Also it hasn't been an option for 1000s of years, as you claim.

Long story short? You're screwed no matter what. Based on that definition, asking for sex when she doesn't want it is attempted rape. And it would be rape if you make unwelcome physical contact by touching her hair.
/r/MensRights23/12/09 05:19 AM

As a gay male, all contact with a vagina is unwanted for me. I was raped at birth. My mother never asked me if I wanted to touch her vagina when I was being born. She's therefore a rapist and a evil pedophile. I wasn't even born before she raped me. I am a rape survivor and a pedophilia survivor.
/r/MensRights22/12/09 09:06 PM

If I were to have sex with a woman I'd want to get her consent in writing and film her signing the contract of her own free will. Probably not with witnesses present, the video evidence should suffice.

It's an interesting definition of rape. According to that definition: As a gay male, all contact with a vagina is unwanted for me. I was raped at birth. Yes, feminists who are interested only in female rights are female cheavenists. The first definition is blatantly and reprehensibly false. I consider myself a feminist, in that I'm interested in getting better equality for women, particularly in work, pay and promotion. Generally when you say "men are people and deserve to be treated like human beings" you get abused and shouted down for being sexist against women. Hence all the aggression directed at this subreddit. Kloo2yoo is somewhat of the exception, and his opposite number is a female supremacist called Aerik. Most of us aren't here to attack people, but to discuss the issue of gender equality.

I'm a MRer and gender-equality advocate and agree with Saydrah's comment. I agree with your comment there as well, just for the record.

I think you are misreading or misinterpreting Saydrah. Saydrah said both are bad and the social perception of both should be changed to reflect that.

Ah. It seems that you're one of those people who post anti-woman stuff to /r/mensrights then whinge about it (and denounce /r/mensrights as anti-women) on another account. Like the infamous Aerik does. Is that what you're up to here? Or possibly you're just a generic troll?

/r/mensrights is routinely downvoted by a group of people opposed to men having rights. That's no secret. On the other hand, this girl being a b$tch to the beggar-women isn't actually a men's rights issue...she's just a brat as you say.

Either this is a below-average-quality attack on mens rights movements or this has nothing to do with mens rights at all. Did you post to the wrong subreddit by chance? Were you aiming for /r/circlejerk possibly?

To research Getting to 50/50, the book I wrote with Joanna Strober, we found that fear of candid talk is the biggest logjam blocking the progress of women in the workplace. For one thing, men shy away from giving women honest feedback. One male CEO of a tech start-up told us: “Every senior male executive I know has been threatened with discrimination charges regardless of the goodness of their track record.” He added, “I’ve seen it make cynics out of a lot of men who started out very differently…

I am in favor overall but recognize it's a mens issue too. A woman should have control over her body. But in some way a man should have similar control. Saying "but the man should have used contraceptives like condoms" carries a lot of weight in my opinion. Anyway...if it's a life-threatening pregnancy, then it should be treated like any life threatening medical condition and no effort should be spared to save the woman from said condition. That's clear cut. If the child will be born with mental…

Abortion is one woman's health issue. As a "women's issue" sure, it's right up there. Bit as a health issue it does not even approach the combined impact of every-other-condition suffered by men and women. Valuing abortion over providing health care for every other health condition (including the life threatening ones) is, frankly, wrong. And roughly half of the people suffering from the continuing lack of affordable health care will be women. This isn't being anti-women's-rights, it is about wh…

I pointed out that trying to block health care for all people and all the conditions covered in the bill because it's not convenient for one medical condition/issue is not justified. Abortion is an important women's issue. But the bill does not reduce access to abortion or increase the price where it is available. So trying to deny affordable health care for everyone over the issue of abortion, is completely unwarranted.

This isn't about all women. This is about the way feminists (i.e. female supremacists) regard men and treat them. The majority of women understand that men are people too, and want gender equality. That's what most men want too. Feminists are not lobbying for gender equality. Feminists try to demonize all men as violent, sex-driven brutes. Feminists lobby for legislation that is biased against men (child custody laws are a perfect example, among many others). So when "Greasy"s GF identified hers…

Name an instance of a man successfully proving that case, that they were not hired based on gender bias. Also, the countries you list have minimum quotas for female employment. Not to put too fine a point on this, but it's illegal not to hire a woman based on gender. There are laws against that. Not hiring a man for their gender is fine, but not hiring a woman is gender based discrimination and is illegal in the EU, Canada, Australia, America, New Zealand and more.

My point is that such characters are extremely rare. You'd also get a pile of complaints of sexism if you showed a male character in a better ight than a female character. Also I don't think Indy was smarter than his female co-stars, especially in "the Last Crusade" where the female lead was using and fooling Indy the whole way through the movie because she was a double-agent. The women in the first two movies were clever, but out-of-place in the field while that was Indy's element.

As you say, it's easy to cite examples from both sides. The other side of this is, can you cite examples where a male character is smarter than a female character? Yeah but we're dealing with a made-up claim. It's not like the feminists are saying "and each rapist is a serial rapist who rapes an average of eight women" (picking a number for the sake of example) allowing us to calculate 1/3 divided by 8 = 1 in 24 men are a 8-time serial rapist. Why complicate it? 1 just went 1 for 1 to better illustrate the implausibility of the statistic that feminists claim are true.

That would mean that 1 in 3 men were rapists, and that if she believes 1 in 3 womenr were raped then she must believe there's a 1 in 3 chance you are a rapist...so...why would she risk talking to any man if there's a 1 in 3 chance he is a rapist who will pounce her and rape her? The whole "men are paid more" argument hinges upon stay-at-home mothers who choose not to work and get supported by men. If you average working men and working women, they women come out ahead on benefits (mainly maternity leave) and are 100% equal on wages. Because people get paid for the job they do, not based on gender. The gender pay gap is a complete fabrication by feminists and has no basis in reaity.

Like I said, the stereotypes exist and exist for a reason. But these trends are less prevalent than most people believe. Maybe someone else mentioned that protectiveness was a male traint...

I would've been very interested to hear the answer to the question that was posed to you. I really wished to gain an understanding of how my homosexual friends think about certain issues. You'll have to ask them, not me. We homosexuals are individuals, not identical. I could ask them for you if you like, if you provide me contact info, then I can tell you what they say. Yes, there are general differences. But it's not as clear cut as people pretend. More males are physical and agressive than wom…

It's not being PC. If you take a preset stereotype and layer it over people, you'll percieve them according to that stereotype. For example assuming all black people are prone to crime and violence...what would it take to shatter that illusion? What sort of examples would someone need to see to realize what's right infront of them? Or for example I have said "i see no significant differences" and your slotted me into the 'too PC' pidgeon-hole and discounted everything I have said. It's frustrati…

I think there is a difference in the way most bad driver males drive badly compared to the way most bad driver females drive badly. Other than that women use better smelling deoderants and perfumes than men use. I have yet to find any clear mental or psychological difference.

I'm not being too PC. I have seen most males are protective of their loved ones, and seen most females are the same. It has nothing to do with gender. I have seen good and bad leader who are men, and who are women, and roughtly the same numbers. If there is some gender difference in the number of men or women with leaderships skills it isn't apparent. Come to think of it, there is one difference I can think of. Types of bad driving. Most bad male drivers tend to speed and take risks like weave b…

Those qualities might be common, but are not universal. Moreover they are present to different extents in different men. I'd also suggest that I have seen all of those in women, in particular the compulsion to lead and compulsion to protect.

I'm not implying that you hate/find nothing good about women. Good. Because I don't. People that treat me (or others) badly are not people I want to deal with. People that treat others politely and/or with respect are people I want to deal with. It's that simple. And when someone starts telling me I am a thug and a woman-beating rapist because I am a male...that fits the former category. It happens a lot though, which is sad. what do you dislike about men? Who specifically? It's wrong to general…

I want people to be treated based upon how they act...not how someone else claims a stereotype acts. No matter what the stereotype is...be it race, religion, gender, profession, nationality, and so on. Until then I, as a male, will be treated like I am a violent sex offender prone to raping every female I see...because we are taught all men are stupid, contemptable, sex-obsessed brutes who are violent and rape women given the slightest opportunity. As a non-violent, non-criminal and homosexual m…

Well, i'm gay and have access to both circumsised and uncircumsised penises. _^ Based on my observations, and medical studies, uncircumsised penises are more sensitive. Based on the testimony of female friends, uncircumsised men are better in bed and consequently are better at pleasuring women. The same applies to anal sex, the better performing males (uncircumsised) give a more enjoyable performance. Uncircumsised men get more stimulation and (on average) respond to sex better than circumsised …

I'm circumsised. The answer is unquestioningly that uncircumsised is superiour across the board. The uncircumsised male has better sensitivity during intercourse, masturbation or a blow job. Women enjoy uncircumsised penises more. During gay sex uncircumsised is also preferred. Circumsision also fails to provide the alleged resistance to STD's that are used to justify the procedure. Or in other words, male circumsision is on par with female circumsision. An uneccesary procedure designed to reduc…

The add portrays the woman's treatment of men to be justified and acceptable. Yes, it is aimed at men and is telling them they deserve this treatment and are inferiour...neither of us disputes that men are the target market.

No, there is no jeopardy of shared parenting here in Australia. For over two decades women have full rights in any parental custody case or alleged sexual crime case. We've gone past 'guilty until proven innocent' here, any male in such a court case is automatically guilty.

It doesn't come across that way to me. It shows the man buying a stupid and insensitive gift (implying all men are stupid and insensitive), and then she is justly offended at getting a cleaning tool and punishes her mere male. Then shows lots of similarly punished men (reinforcing the idea it's a common male trait) and so on... Think of it this way. If the genders were reversed, and a man threw a woman into confinement for the gift he recieved (like, say, giving him the wrong power tool or somet…

It definitely encourages it. It shows women as entitled to do so.
/r/MensRights03/12/08 08:05 PM

Definitely. Here in Australia any woman that thinks a man is showing interest in a child or a woman can report them for 'planning to rape' and the man has to prove his innocence. Any situation where there is a sexual crime or accusation involving a male (adult or otherwise) the male is presumed guilty until proven innocent. For example in child custody cases, the male is presumed to be an unfit parent and a sexual predator, so a man having child custody rights is remarkably rare here. Other than…

To a lot of people, standing up for men's rights and men's equality is considered unacceptable or sexist. I believe gender equality is a noble goal. I believe the current approach of demonizing and stigmatizing all men is taking society further and further from equality (and fairness) between genders.

My ex BF (gay) had a restraining order placed on him by a woman in the workplace who resented him getting a promotion instead of her. She made a fake accusation of stalking and sexual harassment, and got a restrainign order (blackmailing my ex to either settle out of court and accept the order, or have his name leaked to the media). Once she had the order she took it to their boss and demanded she get the promotion and that my ex be fired because he wasn't allowed to come to work due to the rest…

I think the idea of hate crime legislation is the assumption that someone who hates a certain demographic is likely to be inciting violence as well. That or it's meant to be a deterrant, I don't know (it definitely doesn't work). ...but a better way to handle it would be to remove 'mitigating circumstances' if the motive is discrimination. So 'temporary insanity' and 'crime of passion' and 'self defence' should all go out the window if the prosecution shows the motive was actually established bi…

Exactly. That's the way it should be handled. Having this gray area that someone can have consentual sex then change their mind about it later, retroactively making the sex a rape...is completely unacceptable.

I agree. That's the problem.
/r/MensRights16/10/08 10:18 PM

One of the very first foundations of law was that the punishment for a false accusation was the same as the crime itself. The reason for this is obvious, you recieve exactly the same 'damage' as you would have inflicted if the false accusation had succeeded. Currently there is no deterrant from making a false rape accusation. The accusation alone ruins the victim's life and society will consider them a sex offender even if they are not convicted. The accuser isn't treated like a blackmailer or d…

I have no reason to mutilate a child's genitals, regardless of the child's gender. There is no medical reasons for it whatsoever. Actually there is a risk, because pro-mutilation apologists are trying to advocate circumsision instead of safe sex for stopping STD's, that "false sense of security" creates a medical risk if circumsised people think they are safe from STD's and they don't take precautions that are proven and effective (like wearing a condom). And as a male circumsised without consen…

I don't believe I said you were doing any of the alleged stifling. You're a newcomer here after all. If you thought I was referring to you then I apologize. You weren't involved at all to the best of my knowledge.

That is not the problem. You're missing the point. As I said earlier, you should go back and work out what has happened previously. If you want to just blunder on into the ongoing debate with no clue what it's about...then please proceed. If you want to actually contribute something for a change, then you'll have to work out what is going on first. I'd prefer the latter. Best of luck. _^
