Only 6 months. We had the settlement agreement in place 3 weeks after our decision. My state required a 6 month waiting period. I'm just thankful I have no more direct ties to her other than kids. She screwed me over on a few things in the last 6 months but it ended up biting her in the ass this tax season.

Thank you for this reply! You're right and I've recently discovered this. It's really just getting used to the adjustment to the new life. It's hardest when I don't have the kids and I'm just home alone. I am slowly snapping out of the funk I'm in, and I'm being patient.

Yeah, I'v come out of it better than most others from what I've read, and people I've talked to who've gone through this. Hence why I'm confused as to why I'm feeling this way. I could definitely understand the phases, but I didn't expect actual anxiety. I"m in a current cycle where I know I need to go do stuff, but the physical symptoms are holding me back, for now. I guess I'm also asking people who are reading this if they felt similar and how long did it last. I'm taking an SSRI (prescribed)…

I still have good days and terrible days as well. I hear this lasts a while. While the end is in site, it won't be the end because we'll be coparenting for quite some time. I have a 9 and 12 yr old and we have 50/50. My issue is not really with her, it's the uncertainty of my future. I'm not even fully sure what I want. Trying to figure all that out and it's making my anxiety spike. But I'll get through it, you'll get through it. We all just have e different time tables.

If you don't mind me asking, how long have you been divorced? I'm separated 6 weeks, divorce should be finalized in April. I started out great, positive, and looking forward to my future life without her, but with my kids. But a few weeks ago, I reverted back to the worry and uncertainty. I'm confident this feeling won't last, and everyone is different. But when did you turn the corner?

For me, the first day they leave has been the hardest. Only separated for a month but we're 50/50 split. I end up with a great saddness. Thankfully, i work from home, and my ex does not. She cant' get home in time to be there for our 9 year old to get off the bus. So I get to see them every weekday, even for an hour or so on my off days.

Dude, you're only human. As I'm going through what I am now, if I had made a connection like you did, I would not have felt guilty and would not consider it cheating. If your marriage was dead like mine was (separated 1 month now), how can anyone expect people (not just men but also goes for women) to not be emotional and share similar emotions with another person. Humans are emotional creatures and when one person in a partnership takes your emotions for granted, what can be expected? I'm in a …

Are you going to file? Do you have kids? It sounds like it may be time for you to move on. I was in a similar situation but she ended up beating me tonthe punch. She tried to convince me about Living Apart Together but went and started the process without me knowing. That's when I lawyered up, to protect me in what she was doing at first, but when she found out she filed the next day.

I've been in my own place three weeks now. I have the kids this weekend. It's been great so far. Still having some down moments but it's not because I miss her. She started the process I should have started 3 years ago. It's all going to be ok. I'm 49 so it's a little scary not knowing if I'll finally find the right person. After 13 years of marriage it is better off this way. And it helps that my kids are awesome! Good luck brother!

I am in a similar situation, but it's been amicable. Funny enough, I too moved to VT 4 years ago. Chittenden county. I just signed the settlement agreement not even 30 minutes ago. We're each closing on our own places next month and have joint custody. Do not leave your house! Talk to the lawyer ASAP! Especially if you own the home.
