What on earth? Do hospitals in the US actually take your prescription drugs and test what’s in them? Feel like in the U.K. I’ve taken drugs into hospitals (mainly painkillers in my purse for example) and nobody has ever took them to test them. Really hope that this has a good outcome for your friend and his wife! :(

I usually just shave below the knee if I’m in a rush! So I do that maybe every 2-3 days and then the upper half of my leg maybe once a week. My hair is very light though so it’s not very noticeable on my upper leg.

I’d consider myself ‘red pill’ as in I value my boyfriend, don’t nag him where possible, happy to do bulk of cleaning, would be happy to do bulk of childcare if that happens... but I also have a career. I don’t put that above everything else though. I’m passionate about my job but also not to the detriment of my relationship (I’d hope anyway). I don’t think having a good career is anti-red pill unless it overtakes everything else in your life (especially your relationship)

Are you in the U.K.? (You said MBBS so I assumed) If you’re in your final year, have you been looking at applications for jobs yet? You can definitely apply to his location. There’s even special circumstances requests - not sure this would be granted as it’s usually health reasons but it’s worth a shot. (The deadline for special circumstances is 4th Nov, btw) Until then, hang in there! Spend time with your friends if you can. Get really invested into your placements. Use this as an opportunity t…

Yes and no. I think if it’s totally platonic (you’ve never dated, never had feelings for each other, if you’re both in other relationships) it’s ok, depending what activities you do together I.e. nothing too ‘intimate’. I have a few male friends who I have drastically cut down contact with since getting into a serious relationship, because I know it’s not entirely platonic (for example one guy that once told me he liked me as ‘more than a friend’). I feel that keeping that up would be disrespect…

I’m a woman and on side with this sub 95% of the time, but unfortunately this just is a thing. Rightly or wrongly, whether it’s justified or just a product of society’s bias. As a girl I’ve been brought up to be ‘afraid’ of walking home alone, stick keys out of my fist, not listen to music etc etc. I guess for me it’s down to the fact that I know if I got attacked I’d have no chance of fighting someone off if they were stronger, which most men are, even if they’re a similar size to me. On the ot…

That’s interesting - I’ve been on Depo for nearly 3 years and I’ve never been able to shift weight, even sticking to 1200 calories a day and exercising. I’m stopping it soon though (because of the osteomalacia risk) and switching to the patch. I wonder if it will make a difference.

Majority of my friends don’t know my views. A lot of them are quite vocally feminist. I tend not to bring it up unless specifically asked - I really can’t be bothered with the argument.

Why does that give a women more rights over a child when they’re literally 50/50 the father’s and the mother’s? For the record I am a woman.

Very important issues feminists care about: - The right to show nipples on social media - The annoying way men position their legs on public transport - Men giving compliments - Literal phallic cities (https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2020/jul/06/upward-thrusting-buildings-ejaculating-cities-sexist-leslie-kern-phallic-feminist-city-toxic-masculinity) Very important issues meninists care about: - Disproportionate female custody of children post-divorce - Silencing o…

Nothing is 100% effective, but some are damn near as good as. Your best bets are the contraceptive implant, IUS (Mirena) or the depo shot - basically methods that don’t require you remembering to take anything. Off the top of my head the implant has a success rate of >99%. And if you’re still worried, use condoms as well (good idea anyway for STIs)

I’m a woman and not a feminist. I agree with many issues on this sub and check in now and again. Funnily enough, I could never admit this while studying at university or I’d probably have ended up mocked and disliked - mainly by other women.

When I made the attraction point I was mainly talking about feminist arguments like THIS There's nothing wrong with this lady having confidence in herself. If she's happy then meh, not going to judge her. Certainly not going to make horrible comments about her, none of my business. It's the insinuation that if you don't consider her (or very fat women, or hairy women, or whatever) attractive then you're in the wrong. Men and women have the right to be attracted or not. In fact it's not even a ri…

Meh, I don't speak up about it in my personal life because I can't be assed with the inevitable drama it would create. Not sure where I've taken advantage of privileges. Men and women should be equal. Just not in the warped way modern feminism wants

RE Catcalling. I've said it on a few other replies - I'm not denying it's threatening, even slightly intimidating in the wrong time or place. My problem is when feminists call it 'sexual assault'. As if a wolf whistle and a physical attack are somehow comparable. They aren't. RE being attracted to someone. My point here was that certain feminists try and say it's misogynistic for a man NOT to find an 'unattractive' woman good looking. I say unattractive here in a conventional sense. I'm aware th…

If they're blacking out or actually passed out, they're not giving consent. Of course that's not okay. I'm talking about women getting drunk and having consensual sex, then waking up in the morning, regretting their choice, and saying it was assault. There's a big difference.

You're now jumping to lots of different conclusions about my views, so to clear things up: 1) I'm from the UK, know zilch about American history so can't debate on that 2) I'm not a Marxist. I don't think you have to go into theories or align yourself with a particular political movement to look back at society in the early 1900s and realise that it was not equal. 3) Terrorist bombings are not 'okay for a good cause', and the suffragettes are not 'my heroines'. You asked me to name someone who '…

Good on you for your service. :) Sorry you're having to deal with the falls you've had now. Whatever works for you in your own relationship is totally fine. A few people have picked up on my 'women doing housework' comment. I feel like it's really subjective. I'm not saying that a woman should do all of the work (I even said that in the original post). I'm just saying that personally, I'm happy doing it. I see articles commonly where feminists complain that this attitude is down to me being 'opp…

No, I don't use words like those. I had to look the second one up. In my opinion there's no doubt women were oppressed round the early 1900s. Voting was extremely limited for women in the UK until the 30s. Legally married women gained rights over their own property in the late 1800s, but cultural differences meant most women really had no opportunities outside of the home well into the mid-1900s. There's a debate as to whether her death was accidental or not. Those who say it wasn't an accident …

While I'm happy to have my views challenged, I'm also not up for getting completely slated. I figured this sub would draw a mix of support and criticism. I know how this goes. Once you tell other feminist women that you're not a feminist, the apparent belief in 'freedom for women to choose' evaporates pretty damn quick. RE Cat-calling. Sure, it's annoying, and slightly intimidating at absolute most, depending on time and place. What I can't accept is radical feminists equating cat-calling with '…

I don't deny cat-calling can be intimidating, especially depending on time/location. But the majority of the time and circumstance, it's more irritating and harmless than anything. The issue I take is when cat-calling is referred to as 'sexual assault' by rad fems. Some talk as if a wolf whistle and a physical attack are equally damaging. There's just no comparison between the two.

Haha, I got the wrong lady - it's THIS one I meant: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emily_Davison She is pretty famous in the U.K. for women's rights and her story is taught in most basic history classes. Other less famous women also went on hunger strikes to get the vote, independent status from their husbands etc. I.e. When Western women were ACTUALLY oppressed. I'm getting tired now, it's too late.

Modern feminism commonly views the 'friendzone' as a concept invented by men who believe they're 'entitled to sex' as a reward for being good friends with a woman. In reality, I think it's two totally separate things. A man can totally be friends with a woman without any expectations. In other cases though (i.e. 'Friendzone'), a woman is aware that a guy is interested in her, the feelings are not mutual, but she is getting something beneficial out of the relationship, so she carries it on regard…

In the UK, this lady is pretty famous and spoken about in most basic school history classes. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emmeline_Pankhurst Also other less famous women who went on hunger strike around the same time. This was all about gaining equality when women really were 'husband's property' and had no vote. I.e. When Western women were ACTUALLY oppressed.

Edited, for clarity. I'm absolutely not condoning rape. I do, however, believe consent can still be given when you're drunk, and can't be 'taken back' when you regret that decision sober.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
