Fighting not to become people who post clichéd, horribly written, and fake stories in exchange for attention?

"Alpha" and "Beta" are silly terms anyway. I'm going to have to speak in cliches here, but it's the only way. You have no confidence. Most girls are attracted to confidence. Don't wait for things to happen and don't stress out too much. Have fun, talk to people, be interesting AND interested, and the rest will come with time. And to add colour, I'm Indian myself, so I can speak to this.

Yes. Moved to Chciago, knew no one. On Thursday, I would walk to the hotel across the street, pick up Time Out Chicago (a magazine listing all the events happening), do my due diligence on which bars seemed to have the best parties... then go out and meet people there. Made some cool friends that way.

Yes and this is good advice for carrying conversations in real life when getting to know people.

I like drinking as much as the next person. A drink or two definitely relaxes everyone and that's why it's typical that the first date is drinks (which is honestly having one or two drinks each). I just don't like that the whole game here revolves around getting drunk.

(Affect) To each his own. For some, it is a consideration.

I feel a little odd defending this... but it can make a difference. Forget perception of others -- if you're at a bar or nightclub, contacts can give you a little more freedom and confidence than glasses do. I can't guarantee this is the case for everyone, but most guys I know feel the same way.

Fun fact: Getting girls drink is not the only way to get laid. Nor is it the best.

One of the first girls that I ever legitimately hit on was a girl who had an umbrella when it was downpouring in London.

All the time. You just have to work harder to either host them or find them.

Oh, convince her we're dating, bang her, then break up with her right after. (please don't do this, it's terrible advice)

That's pretty interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Is there any text-based version? Unfortunately, youtube is blocked at work and I'm here for a while. Thanks!

Literally, just introduce yourself, make some quip about the class. Build a rapport. Girls in classes are best to work a little more slowly. Worst-case scenario: you make a new friend you can invite to parties and who can introduce you to more girls outside your natural network. Plus, it gives you legitimacy.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
