I prefer to be independent that means being content with who I am without needing anyone, because I have been disappointed by friends and family. Not always but enough times to not completely rely on their affection. I will advice you to analyze your life and decide according to that. I agree with dog and hookers plan. But I will try to not let it come in the way of real human connections. Maybe it is just me, but even with all the rejections in my past, the flirting/scoring women thing is still…

I get what you are saying. It is all true. But I have realized and almost certain that "looking" for affection from women, or from anyone for that matter, is a lost cause. Not only that, it reveals that I have a "need". I have experienced that whenever I have shown that "need" I was rejected. I would suggest you to get rid of that "need" if you can in whatever way you choose. If affection comes your way, that's awesome. Asking for it, directly or covertly, will only result in disappointment. I d…

I was addressing negative self-talk. Even if it is self-deprecating humor...you have to be really successful in other areas of life to pull that off.

You sound like a smart guy. Don't call yourself autistic.

I agree with you with regards to giving the validation of friendship. That kind of person doesn't deserve that. However in my case she was already in my friends circle and that made things complicated... Regarding your case I can see a problem here. You CARE about her respect. IMHO it is more important to care about self-respect. Just a different way of seeing things.

I have been there and a part of me is still there. Invested more than her and now I feel strange being around her because I feel she has some power over me since I fell for her first. Not being friends with her and out rightly saying so still equates to validating her. Real win in my opinion is totally getting over her in the sense that I do not show any attention (you know the romantic and sexual type) when around her. In my case she was never looking for a relationship with me, I realize that …

Accept everything that happened to you, and make it YOUR CHOICE. Be it your childhood trauma, people betraying you, or whatever. Make all your misery and happiness your choices. That is how you accept yourself. Thanks for this quality post.

I'll suggest to go harder and don't pull back, not even a bit, unless you care about the friendship. Be ready for rejection at the same time.

I'm not a player like others here. Just a bit older I guess and I'll tell you from my experience. Send the text that you would send if you didn't care she will get mad at and block you. I don't mean dick pics but words. Jokes, banter, they are all fine, but always push for the next level. If you get rejected it was always menant to be. Aceept and move on. Good luck.

Exactly. I can relate with OP's personality. But what I see missing is the 'fun' side of his character.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
