Got it. So by "most journalists" you meant any journalist left of you personally. Which indeed encompass most journalists and probably most people. That's a very primitive and altogether ineffective way of staying informed. For anyone on either side of the political spectrum. Case in point, you definitely weren't able to understand the Markup's bombshell report nor are you able to distinguish the work of "most journalists" and works that are Pulitzer Prize front runners. Even if you think it's p…

And by "most journalists" you mean any journalist who publishes facts you personally disagree with, yeah?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/08/25 09:14 PM

Excellent point. In that case I would tend to agree with you. I stand corrected. 😊

Right, that's one metric. Of many. The authors assert that, combining all the factors indicates that women drive up to 85% of consumer spending. Like, globally you're right. But that's kind of like appealing to energy conservation laws... there's a lot more going underneath that theoretical equilibrium.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/08/25 09:25 PM

Nope. Not with regards to consumer spending anyway. Source.

Actually, with regards to online dating, men are the majority of paid subscribers. Men who have dated online are more likely than women to report having paid for these sites and apps (41% vs. 29%). source

No. Your question assumes that investigative journalists who write articles about corporate systematic disregard for safety are purely motivated by a desire to hurt corporations financially. An assumption I disagree with. It's troubling to me that this would be your assumption.

I think they clearly wrote the article to highlight the fact that Match Group allows bad actors to remain as paid subscribers for financial reasons. And I think your assessment that their intent was to show "all men are rapists" is preposterous. Like super crazy.

If men's lightning strike risks increase from .0001% to .001%, characterizing that as a 1000% risk increase would be silly. Especially when presented next to data showing women's increase of 5% to 7%. So to characterize men's risk as the greater increase is disingenuous at best. The red pill crowd's math skills have been very disappointing on this thread.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/08/25 05:12 PM
2

Did... you read the article? It seems to show the opposite of that. As in, a minority of rapists might be disproportionately over represented among online dating app users. For business reasons.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/08/25 05:05 PM

Hire a private investigator. It's a stupidly expensive amount of money to spend on a relationship you're that distrustful of... but if don't care HOW you find out then... there are people willing to go that extra mile to get you the evidence you desire.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/08/25 06:21 AM

What would that be to you? You don't want to know how many answers there are to that question. Have a lil imagination! Beyond just extortion (such a powerful information gathering tool) the Tea App is simply just the beginning. You could spend lots of money on a whole private investigator. But if you're willing to blow that much cash then just leave. A relationship with that level of trust issues isn't worth wasting that typa money on.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/08/25 02:44 AM

Great answer to an admittedly cheeky question. I'll push back on b a bit, tho... I can definitely think of ways of finding out that are decidedly worse than not finding out at all.

"un-ask the question" bro gtf outta here. None of your general global statements about "men" apply here. That means, without adjustment, your normal talking points don't apply. And I see you are unable to adjust. Or even recognize the issue. Which is, frankly, embarrassing. Good day.

it would seem to me that the heterosexual dating scene is not a particularly high risk endeavor for men in terms of sexual assault. Based on which numbers are you disagreeing with this statement. Of all the various social situations a man could be in, which ones do you think are at a lesser risk for sexual assault then men with the free time, money, and inclination to engage in the heterosexual dating scene? This is not the majority of men. At all. It is a subset. We can cut it down to ~30% base…

I'm a software engineer and physicist/mathmatician in training. I actually have no business interpreting these numbers, to be clear. But...while I agree with your broader assessment about the risk men face globally, it would seem to me that the heterosexual dating scene is not a particularly high risk endeavor for men in terms of sexual assault. On or offline. Men lucky enough to be hitting the dating scene seem to face a lower sexual assault risk than men in most other situations. What's weird …

That is precisely how numbers work. Is it? Or did I miss a decimal place? If so, in which direction? 🤔
/r/PurplePillDebate09/08/25 11:44 PM
2

Whether or not it is disingenuous depends on whether the increase was deliberately framed that way for sensationalism and to manipulate people's perception. K we've reached the end of my patience. I will just state plainly that the way you are framing numbers is far more disingenuous than the way in which the authors of any of the studies linked by either you or me chose to frame the numbers. I'm not impressed with your math skills It's actually one of areas of expertise. Good day.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/08/25 11:37 PM
2

That is not how you do numbers. If my risk of getting struck by lightning jumps from .0001% all the way to .001% it would be disingenuous for me to describe that as a 1000% increase in risk. Sit down, sir. I'm not even sure you know what it is you're arguing against anymore.

And the data in Table 1 on page 6307 clearly shows the rate of men raped while using dating apps almost doubled compared to men raped not using dating apps. It went from single digits to single digits. The thing is, you have this universal frame of reference which has gotten so bad it's affecting your ability to interpret numbers or, indeed, do math. I'm pretty sure I found a context where hard numbers don't support your universal theory. I'm not arguing with the studies you cited that are broad…

Valentine et al. (p 6303) An analysis of cases within this study (n=163) found that 85% of the victims were female with 72% of assaults occurring at the victim’s or perpetrator’s residence (NCA, 2016). Also. You mean the article you mentioned in the other comment, where the study pointed out that men and people with mental illnesses are 200% an 50% more likely to be raped through dating apps rather than meeting in person? 🤦🏻 no it doesn't bro. at all. please read a bit slower and a bit more carefully.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/08/25 10:16 PM

DAppSA victims had unique characteristics including a higher percentage of male victims (7.5%), college students (22.2%), and victims with self-reported mental illness (MI) (59.6%). In other words, MEN ARE 2X LIKELY TO BE ABUSED VIA DATING APPS, and when the story got picked up, it was published under "WOMEN FACE MORE RISKS". 🤦🏻 read a little slower and a little more thoughtfully please. You're making classic math mistakes and the rate at which you're making them is not helping your case.

That Scientific American article is very clearly broader in scope then the context of Online Dating. We're not talking about prison. The Markup study I linked is one of several investigations that show Online Dating presents a demonstrably elevated risk of sexual assault, specifically for women. And I'm sure Match Group, Inc. would love for you to focus on anything else. EDIT: added link

I don't think any of those citation-free statistics would apply to the context of online dating. Online dating presents a demonstrably elevated sexual assault risk for specifically women.

It's just an article describing how the corporate owners of Hinge and Tinder knowingly keep rapists as paying subscribers and resist implementing common sense tools to identify and ban them cross-platform. I phrased that sentence exactly as intended.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/08/25 08:31 PM

So... not thru the Tea App, then?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/08/25 08:08 PM

That's the crux of the issue. Regardless of gender, perpetrators of sexual assault rarely face any real consequences.

Yah that tracks. I think the article implies that they do "content moderation" on a per-app basis, each one using a different set of dummies, none of them consistently utilizing any cross platform tools. But... those cross platform tools exist though. One of them is called Sentinel. And now I'm just oh so curious what they do with that Sentinel data. They could, for instance, "anonymize" and sell the data to a "data and safety analytics" vendor. And then there's a few places that data could go f…

Actually, with regards to online dating, it's not so simple. Seems like right now is a great time to be a rapist, actually. I think the corporations behind the apps keep the Online Dating Culture war going for business reasons. You ever wonder how the Tea App was able to amass such a large database so quickly? 🤔
/r/PurplePillDebate09/08/25 05:35 PM

It's a protection racket. Men pay for dating apps. Women don't. Match Group knows who the rapists are but those are customers and we don't ban customers. Match Group, Inc. sells it's customer data to a data broker who sells it to Tea Dating Advice, Inc. who sells it to women for $14.99/mo. That's how Match Group is able to monetize physical and sexual assault. It's extortion.

In the time since this conversation I've learned a lot. The dating apps, particularly the Match Group and Bumble apps, are horrifyingly dangerous. I definitely see the need to protect women's safety from a culture that profits from abuse. I didn't realize an abuser needs multiple verified reports to be banned from Tinder... but can hop right onto Hinge same profile, same details, same credit card info. They're both owned by Match Group. They have the tools to identify these guys and they just do…

"He's married." "He ghosted me". Poll of "Should I date this guy who I just saw out with another woman?" clearly indicate that this is a social media site. You cannot force men to have their publicly identifiable information hosted on a social media site against their will. That is not okay. I don't want my name and photos listed, locations posted, or a fucking flag counter on a profile I didn't create, on some app I never heard of before.

This boycott is targeted at men who value consent and basic human rights and want to take meaningful action. And for the men who realize what an opsec nightmare this has become. If that's not you then stay on the apps my guy. Good day.

No. Have as many men as possible avoid the apps so that their location data (among so many other things) doesn't become a matter of public record. It's a quick way to force awareness caused by the pressure it puts on three specific publicly traded companies. Focus that awareness squarely on AWDTSG/Tea App, the data brokerage pipeline that powers it, and the opsec nightmare it presents. It's incredibly likely you have a profile on Tea containing personal details and geographical information. And if you don't today you will tomorrow. There are no historical analogies that I know of since 2012 (isanyoneup) and although that site was horrible... it's actually not as bad as Tea cause isanyoneup wasn't tracking PII, biometrics, and location information. The recent unisex apps that have been hastily cobbled together in the wake of this week's revelations have never gotten off the ground. In your opinion, what would be an acceptable way for a woman to let other women know that a man she’d previously been involved with was abusive/a cheater/violent/pushes sexual boundaries? In a way that does not involve you handing both money and Personally Identifiable Information that isn't yours to a for profit company!! Yep.. Yep I would agree with all of that... except the scale of what is happening right now is astonishing. This is bigger than the dating scene or gender wars actually. I think some specific incredibly shady data brokers have... found a way to acquire men's data and sell it back to women. And then acquire more men's data from those women and then sell it right back to more women. And now it's grown into a monster. The boycott is targeted at publicly traded companies to bring awareness. And also…

Yah, its a social/economic pressure campaign. And... there is mounting evidence that at least one of the publicly traded companies on that list is in bed with the same parasitic data brokers powering AWDTSG and Tea. We'll never get all the guys to stop dating women. But these apps function off of very carefully split userbases, sensitive to imbalance at both a local and global level. If we just agree to stop eating off of certain menus then it can have a huge impact on this toxic industry.

*the notion that women need an app like Tea for safety reasons. This notion is undercut by the fact that the percentage of user activity on Tea that relates to safety tiny. And the percentage of user activity that relates to "ghosting" is huge.

I get it. Consent is a big deal. And historically the application of consent has been asymmetrical. I'm in no way minimizing women's struggles. This won't help. If we do not shut down Tea then it will set a precedent that will allow development of apps that will serve to victimize women **much** further and at scale.

The app was vibe coded by a disgusting caricature of a man for purely selfish reasons and the app's complete lack of digital security in any direction shows this well. The context is capitalism. ...but this claim that men do not have their own groups in the wake of Gisele Pellicot and the discovery of the Telegram "Rape Chats" that totaled over 70k members is not factual. Reddit itself is often used as a hub to disseminate nonconsensual sexual imagery to a primarily male user base, as requests for pictures of other men's girlfriends and partners abound, as well as offers to share them- and these are just in cases where it is explicit that there was not consent. It's crazy that you think it can't get worse. Tea is not a solution. It's an egregious violation of civil liberties. And the fact that you won't be able to see it until a male version of an app pops us and uses Facial Recognition to catalog women and AI to ban women from viewing the catalog... well it speaks volumes. No male version of Tea currently exists but one will soon. And it will be likely be far worse than Tea and pretty difficult to legally defend against if we let Tea set precedent.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/07/25 02:41 PM

I do think they are already but they usually operate clandestine and in small circles for fear of the exact legal repercussions that Tea is setting a precedent against. I think revenge porn is bad. I think a nationwide facial recognition powered strictly male-controlled database of women's sexual history built by men using PII that doesn't belong to them is a recipe for something far worse.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/07/25 02:58 AM

Well then that's where were differ I guess. Here's my fear. See I happen to know that since the Tea app's newfound popularity, there are now several male analogies to Tea in development. I fear if we take the "it is what it is" attitude we'll let Tea set some real bad precedents.Precedents that will make the oncoming super toxic male analogies to Tea very hard for women to defend against legally. I think women deserve consent the same as men. And I think the Tea app sets a real dangerous precede…

I'm not sure what it is that you think you understand but unless you want to clarify this statement right here: Gossip doesn't need consent. I don't mean to insult you. But I am pointing out that it's very clear that you do not, in fact, understand. Gossip doesn't need consent. Given that we're discussing the Tea app, this indicates a very clear lack of digital literacy. This isn't an insult, it's just a statement of fact.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/07/25 12:15 AM

It's not a response to seeing that women gossip. I disagree. I think the Body Count app will meet with fierce resistance if we let things get to the point where it's actually released. And rightly so since it'll be every bit the human rights violation that Tea is. But I'm not a woman. All I know is an app like Body Count is currently in development and I wish we could all just stop and set up some common sense consent rules.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/07/25 11:06 PM

Oh no I meant I would upload my Male profile to Tea for women to gossip about or whatever. Not as a user but as a... voluntary participant. The point I'm trying to make is that with Tea I do not have that choice as a man. I'm blocked from accessing Tea so any participation I have with that app happens against my will. Basically if you give me the option then cool but to not have an option is... well that's a clear consent violation. It's one thing for me to volunteer to be included in the "women…
/r/PurplePillDebate29/07/25 10:57 PM

“Consent” does not mean “people cannot gossip about you without your permission.” If so, celebrities have their “consent” violated constantly. The issues involved with the Tea app are related to privacy and bullying, which are valid issues but certainly not exclusive to that app in any way. Great. So the Body Count app is fine then? I disagree, this is rock bottom. While the vibe of the male version would be different, it doesn't matter because the key component missing from the equation is simply consent. The Tea App uses AI to block men from accessing it. So all information about any male on that app was ostensibly uploaded by a third party without that mans ability to consent. This information is stored in indexed searchable social media profiles powered by facial recognition technology. Pretty much. At least until we're able to finally shut the Tea app down anyway.

No large ones that I know of. They spring up amongst small groups of males who pretty much have to swear to secrecy cause the moment anyone finds out you're in a facebook group for the specific purposes of discussing members of the opposite sex people get mad. A friend of mine told me of such a group chat that contained **no pictures whatsoever just discussion** and it cost like 5 guys their jobs. Still they exist and while they are not all toxic, many of them are. None involve facial recognitio…

What app allows men to upload a woman's personally identifiable information to a website to build a social media profile containing outrageously personal details against her will? And uses facial recognition to make these profiles searchable? And uses AI to specifically block victimized women from even knowing they've been victimized? And has even a fraction of the popularity of Tea?

I disagree. Counterpoint 1 - The widespread popularity of the Tea app. The Tea App's #1 position in the app store is, under no uncertain terms, widespread failure of specifically women to apply consent. Counterpoint 2 - The defenders of the Tea app claim the point of the app is for "safety". But this was gaslighitng even before the leaks proved that to be super false. It is clearly a dating website where women can browse prospective partners whose personally identifiable information has been col…

I refuse to enter a dating scene where any random prospective partner can create a social media profile for me against my will and fill it with outrageously personal details usually of a sexual nature. The Tea App is a whole human rights violation and I refuse to tolerate it as a prerequisite to enter the dating scene.

The Tea app is custom designed to facilitate the creation of social media profiles for Individuals by Third Parties without their knowledge or consent. Marketed under the perverse guise of "safety" the site functions much more like Yelp than any sort of consumer protection agency. Victims are unable to view their own profiles, contest any information they might maintain and, crucially, there is no opt-out mechanism. Despite claims of "safety" the apps interface suggests it functions much more li…

You misunderstand how the app fundamentally works. AI is used to ban men from accessing the app. Every picture, every piece of personally identifiable information that relates to a man was not uploaded to Tea by that man. You can cheat the shitty system of course but my argument relates to this being a fundamentally awful idea. I am unable to opt out of the Tea app. I have no way to know if I've been victimized and no mechanism for recourse. I do not need to have any other social media apps. Any…

You do not need a Facebook or Instagram or any social media account to have a Tea account created for you without your knowledge or consent. There is no opt out. And no, no such male equivalent has ever existed. At no point was AI used to block victims from even knowing they've been victimized. Not on a scale anywhere near the scale of Tea which is still number 1 in the app store. It's a consent violation. A clear and disgusting violation of consent and basic human rights. And your inability to …

Wow. The Tea app allows third parties to use an individual's Personally Identifiable Information and facial recognition software to create social media profiles for them without their knowledge or consent. Profiles used to track outrageously private details, often of a sexual nature. The Tea app uses AI to ban victims from accessing these profiles and offers no ability to opt out and absolutely no mechanism for recourse. All of this, mind you, under the perverse flag of "safety". There is no mal…

It's not flawed. It is a clear failure to apply consent and a disgusting violation of basic human rights. And it's widespread popularity amongst women speaks volumes.

I don't want any laundry aired without my consent! What is wrong with you people?

The internet doesn't use AI to ban women whilst allowing men to use women's PII and facial recognition software to create social media profiles for those women without their knowledge or consent for the purposes of logging outrageously private details often of a sexual nature. There is no male equivalent of Tea but the widespread popularity of Tea guarantees several such apps are now in development. Your defense of Tea is not only disgusting, it's counterproductive.

Tea is a social media app that I am unable to opt out of or even know if I'm on. It is custom designed for the collection of phone numbers, physical addresses, and outrageously personal details often of a sexual nature. Any woman can make a profile for me against my will and I have no mechanism for recourse. You're out of your mind if you think we just going to let this disgusting and obviously predatory shit go. The Tea app is a clear and profound human rights violation.

The Tea app is designed for third parties to use Personally Identifiable Information to create social media profiles (featuring outrageously personal details often of a sexual) for individuals without their knowledge or consent. Victims have no mechanism for recourse. The Tea app represents a profound violation of personal and civil liberties and the disgusting app's widespread popularity among women speaks volumes.

The Tea app is not about safety. "Ghosting" is not a safety issue. Tea is a social media app. Creating a social media account for anyone without their knowledge or consent for the purposes of sharing outrageously private details (often of a sexual nature) is a profound human rights violation. And the Tea app is custom designed to enable this disgusting behavior at scale. The fact that this is a controversial opinion is bananas.
