I think it’s an issue with a lot of controversy. Do we respect men to be responsible for their decisions or endorse the freedom to abdicate responsibility. I think it comes to the philosophical question of whether one thinks a fetus is owed something by the parents. If you endorse abortion you should probably respect it for both parental units

I think that just blurting put “I’m an MRA” would be confusing to most people. The movement is disjointed at best and there are many undesirable elements in addition to the misunderstood. Furthermore, the label of MRA is pretty negatively viewed. What I would suggest instead would be to bring up specific topics. Try and understand her view and just have a discussion around the issues without staking out hard positions. It would be even better if it could be pinned to a current event to discuss s…

While this sub does a good job of keeping issues affecting men at the forefront, here you are just looking for validation. Something perfect guys usually don’t have to do. On paper, sure we can believe you’re attractive and could provide stability. However, assuming you’re normal college age, most women are looking for other things right now. They don’t want a nest already made, they want to build a life together. Also, rejection has always been part of the dating game, there’s enough platitudes…

Philosophically, sure. The issue with feminism isn’t the philosophical underpinning. The issue is when the philosophy is taken to absurdism. That women and men are equal in all ways, not just of equal worth and deserving of equal rights. I see nothing wrong with the beliefs of first and second wave feminism, the issue is with the modern movement and it’s adherents. The mixing of the worst aspects of feminist resentment and postmodern power dynamics is the problem, despite both having valuable co…

This seems a little two sided to me. On one hand, yes, it is an invasion of one group’s space. It complicates the interactions in gay bars by introducing a straight male element. It can make things more difficult or less uninhibited. But I also think there are positive aspects of the situation you describe, primarily led by straight women. That is, the breaking of barriers gay men need to hide behind. That straight man realizes this is not his normal space, he is in the minority and needs to act…

There’s an issue with the idea of “wokism” which, while it can be useful, fails to capture the fullness of ideas. It’s a catch all for a lot of things. We often focus on things like talks around patriarchy and denigration of men. But it also addresses historical injustices. Do I think men get a rotten deal with dangerous jobs and custody agreements? Sure. Do I also think women get a rotten deal with pregnancy and job advancement, also sure. “Woke” is too broad it’s better to focus on individual …

Meg generally have to power to rebuff advances. Not all and it doesn’t make it ok. However, frequency and severity are important. To that point there should be more enforcement of sexual crimes against men. However, women acting scared because they are scared is understandable. It’s a failure of the media for stoking hatred. You honestly think anyone will fight with us if you spew insults out of your mouth every time someone offers a slightly moderating opinion.

It’s frustrating to be made to feel unwelcome. However, you weren’t removed and now enacted anything with consequences. It’s possible to advocate for men’s rights and recognize the prevalence of sexual harassment and assault that comes from other men. We talk out both sides of our mouth when we bring up statistics about the outsized number of men that are victims of violent assault but ignore the outsized number of women who fall victim of sexual crimes. All we can do is continue to advocate for…

Sure, call it what you will, murder is a legal term though if you want to be pedantic. So at best maybe “kill”.

Completely different situation. They want the choice whether to have to carry a child to term. You want the choice to abandon your child.

Wow this is a cesspool. First off, alimony is gender neutral. Alimony is occasionally awarded to men. To OP’s point, it is more often to women. Alimony is awarded when one partner has sacrificed or given up income earning opportunities. For instance a woman who stays home to raise children. In our society, there is still a gender imbalance in the workplace. More women choose to sacrifice income or careers for family life. It is also assumed that in an equal partnership, the non working member pr…
