I was also the house husband for the majority of the marriage. Amazingly, I got a job - but nowhere near the standard of living I had with my ex. Sounds like a similar situation, where we picked up the invisible load in supporting the family so that our spouses could build a career. Keep your chin up and good luck closer to the city.

This hit home for me. I’ve filed for divorce just 3 months ago, separated for about a year and a half. I’ve had some relationships in between then - one with way too much drama and another exploring polyamory, but then grief came out of no where about 4 weeks ago and everything came to a screeching halt.
