Just read the BBC article on this story. Her and her family are basically blaming everyone but her. They say the police were corrupt, the judge was incompetent and the authorities didn’t give her enough support. At no point has a thought been given to the 12 men who’s lives would have been destroyed if she had not retracted her claim.

I think you’re right but I agree with others that it’s fucked up when people stand back when the girl is hitting then start getting involved when he hits back. In this case however it was probably the right thing to do but they could have stopped it earlier by intervening when she was hitting him.
