Marriages are partnerships. Yes, in hindsight all of this could've been avoided. However, during the marriage you try to make things work and I was trying to squeeze blood out of a stone.

I had an idea as to how it was going to go. Unfortunately, she is uncooperative and spiteful. Its unfortunate since our son is in the middle of it too. Custody was granted (50/50) but im still paying for support? Again, the system is really crappy in California.

I pushed for the divorce after she assaulted me last year.

The sentiment I understand, but that's easier said that done OP. Believe me, if I could deal with my SBXW like an adult, we wouldve been done a long time ago.

Im reading this and I know this is what its going to come to. I know she has a lawyer, but she hasnt officially told me yet. Im going to serve her papers very soon, and we have a family court mediation meeting prior to the court proceedings in September. Hope for the best. We are all in this together.

I wanted the divorce. But she is unwilling and not accepting the reality. Not able to negotiate or mediate.

Because I’m busy paying for everything else while we live in the house

It’s the court I’m concerned about more than people. If the court sees that I’m withholding then I could lose more than I already have

It seems so in the states. Otherwise I’d be looked at as a dead beat who isn’t providing

It must be nice. My STBX is jobless and still thinks that everything in the house is free when I pay for everything. Still waiting for the first initial court date to go through. and we still live together because she has no where else to go.

When my wife assaulted me (hit me on the arm, and slapped me in the face) because I wouldnt have sex with her as I was working at home with our child in the house. Called 911 and she stated "why dont you tell them why you are calling!? It's because you dont want to f**k your wife..." Married 12 years together for 15.

Im going to start this process soon. I hope things get better. I have a stbx that is lazy and does things for herself. Doesnt want to get a job because she has every excuse in the book. Yet Im sure the judge will side with her because she's a woman. Even though I took care of her and paid for all of her medical bills and took care of our son during her medical issues throughout the years. Ill hang in there too if you do.

Thanks for sharing this. I'm sorry you had to go through that. I was physically assaulted but never went through with the 911 call. I wish I wouldve have, even though it wouldve broke my 8 y/o mentally. I am still hopeful that there can be some mediation and that she will be reasonable, instead of wasting all of the money with lawyers.

That is the plan unfortunately. At least for now. I dont want to deal with her without a therapist or an attorney present so my words do not get misconstrued. Its hard to say she or isnt a narcissistic based on her actions and i can go on and on about details. Im just at my wits end and I have no where else to go other than support from either friends or this sub reddit.

Thank you for sharing. My stbxw has no job, and no one in her family to back her financially like that. She has been threatening to go through divorce lawyers. I have told her that if thats the case, we are going to take the equity of the house and sell the car, and we will have to use that money to fund the lawyers you want. Thats the thing thats killing me right now. She's not thinking about my son and just thinking about herself and being spiteful at me.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
