I know a guy who sounds like he’s holding onto a relationship during the pandemic because there are less options out there otherwise. Also a bad move for anyone in general, but in his case likely manipulative and I feel bad for the woman involved.

I have a “hobby” friend I thought was closer than he was but turns out COVID is a perfect excuse to slow down those friendships, at least until they prove more worth your time or you decide to cut it off completely.

I wouldn’t necessarily call it useless, more like it’s a tool better used when framed/delivered from a person-centered orientation. But no one therapeutic approach fits all anyway!

I am a counselor in training who SPECIFICALLY works from the axis of trusting my female clients in situations when it comes to males, while using CBT and narrative therapy primarily. I’m so glad for FDS coming into my life when going to school.

Took a long and hard lesson to learn this myself with a “friend” not a coworker, but same thing. Glad to see this post so it reminds me of the growth journey!

I can actually understand the suspicion toward men who look TOO good. A lot of them (especially in cities) know it and will be trash accordingly. But that’s because men manipulate more than woman do. However you don’t accept a man who can’t groom and look decent! It’s just a gut instinct thing you build.

Being honest about why you’re calling someone a bitch (aka I’m jealous of her...) is a great reframe.

The worst are the narcissistic hot guys that mask as nerdy intellectuals.

Solid post. And this can apply to smaller cities as well. My ex has a lot of these traits. He is at the top of his game in the area, and he knows it — that’s also why he won’t leave. It would be too scary to go to the bigger city and act like a small fish in a big pond. That in itself is a pretty LVM mentality.

Hahaha I heard a “joke” from my ex when I told him I used to ride horses along the lines of “you’re not a horse girl right?” (I guess cuz they have a stereotype). So funny 🙄

It’s suspect because if you’re not even appearing in his stories at least, and all his best friends are, you’re easy to swap out for another girl. This is from experience. The guy’s IG started off as a personal one, morphed into a business one for video stuff, and he used that as his big excuse. This is especially true if the person has a high follower count.

Says he’s a private person, but is active on his “business” Instagram posting his boys (who just so happen to work in his industry) but only you when you’re complimenting his work (ie accompanying him to an award ceremony).

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
