Just listened to it again, I don't think it's indicative of rape on reflection but it's certainly creepy and pathetic. I don't see the argument against this, statutory maternity pay lasts for 39 weeks (maternity leave lasting up to 52 weeks). It doesn't take 39 weeks to recover from pregnancy so the pay is obviously in place to facilitate bonding with the child. If a father chooses to do this instead they should be entitled to the same time off and pay.

Yeah that struck me as odd, if you were actually convicted of a crime and evidence was withheld isn't that an equally important issue. There are probably people rotting in jail currently who could be exonerated with digital evidence. This unit has proved that it isn't to be trusted, it should be heavily investigated.

Further than just the met in terms of institutional sexism imo. The CPS is part of it due to following a lot of recommendations in the Corston Report. The government is culpable as it has bullshit laws on the books; like the fact that only a man can be charged with rape and it just so happens to carry a significantly longer maximum sentence than sexual assault. Suspended whilst his cases are reviewed and investigated that is. We cannot jump to conclusions, theoretically his cases could be reviewed and it comes out that every other case was done by the book ( extremely unlikely but a possibility). We still have to prove obstruction or justice or negligence we can't just presume his guilt.

The only thing that seems like he did is that audio recording of him begging that women to enter his hotel room. I don't know how this Mark Azariah hasn't been suspended yet, two of his cases have fallen apart in the space of a week now. I think it would just be quicker at this point if parliament passed an act saying women can't go to prison. Rather than go through a sham court case in which they'll never face jail. Fair enough it does mean different things to different people.
