100% of your behavior right now is in response to your girlfriend - to the point that you can't even go home. She messed up and she knew it 30 seconds after she did it, but you had your feelings hurt and had to drive around for TWO HOURS to calm down. Does that sound like a man with a solid frame? To me, it sounds like a man trying to pretend he has frame. And now you can't even go home because you don't know how to deal with your girlfriend. You're parked somewhere, playing on reddit, because y…

It strikes me as pretty weak to refuse to accept a sincere apology, and then drive around for three hours instead of just going home. What do you want to happen?

If unrepentant sinners are comfortable going to a given church regularly, then that church is likely just tickling ears. Faithfully preaching the law & gospel will either drive sinners away, or drive them to the foot of the cross.

OK, let's say she apologizes, and gives you some reason/excuse why she didn't mention this guy. Then she assures you there's nobody else, and promises never to hide anything from you EVER again. Then what will you do? How is that really different from the status quo?

Oh, I see. You'll explain to her that you saw a message pop up on her phone, then you read it, then you scrolled through her history, and you know she lied to you. Then, rather than feigning anger at you for invading her privacy, denying / justifying her deception, flipping the script and pointing out everything you've ever done wrong, giving you some crocodile tears, and then just being WAY more careful in the future - she'll come clean and be perfectly honest with you from here on out. Makes s…

Do I confront her about this? What possible good would that do? You know that she lied to you. You also know that she's now shutting this guy down. Decide what you're going to do, and do it.

there's not a lot of good content for Christian men out there I rejoice at what content there is. When I was your age, all we really had was RC Sproul Jr, Doug Wilson, and Doug Phillips. And Voddie Baucham to a lesser degree. Mark Driscoll was hot for a while, but, well, he was Mark Driscoll. After Sproul and Phillips collapsed, I thought that was it. I could find almost nothing. So I was thrilled when the Christian manosphere started to develop. It has a different emphasis, but still the same g…

"The Doxological Purpose of Sex" parts 1 and 2 are also good IIRC. (Episodes available at https://itsgoodtobeaman.buzzsprout.com/266333) They also have some articles which are relevant. The first two might hack you off but they are more criticisms of secular red pill than of what you're doing here. Red pill as another religion The bitter taste of the red pill Mission, then marriage Servant leadership transforms leadership into subservience

/u/GinoMan2440 - TPP is also at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDRHVvoK1jp_oAyhCdyAm8Q/videos if you prefer that, but it's just audio with a static background. (I subscribe to the whole feed at https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/crosspolitic/id1158923632?mt=2) but only listen to CrossPolitic and The Patriarchy Podcast. They also have a Facebook page if that's your thing. TPP (like IGTBAM) overlaps with RPC, but it has a different emphasis/center. Certainly compatible with what you do here. Pa…

some if not a lot of stories from the old testament is based off of previously written mythology Let's assume there was some significant event - like the Flood, or the Tower of Babel, or whatever - that did in fact occur very early in history, prior to writing or at least prior to widespread literacy. Wouldn't that event make it into everyone's cultural memory? And if so, wouldn't we expect to find versions of it everywhere? If there were an event that only the Bible recorded, he'd use that as e…

I'm so sorry. She doesn't lack sexual desire. She just doesn't desire you. Which you know already. Don't reveal that you've been snooping; nothing good could come of that. Can you post stats as per rule 2? Stats: body fat, height, weight, lifts, etc. Reading: Which sidebar content you've read (RPC and/or MRP) Finances: Current job and income quality, future prospects, debt issues Spiritual: How mature you are, how often you pray, have quiet times, share your faith, memorize Scripture, etc.

spend less on groceries (we spent $700 last month) My wife spends $1200/mo to feed six of us, including two teenage boys. I know she could reduce this but I make enough that I don't ask her to. There are also some efficiencies of scale, it's not linear. But it gives you a data point. currently is at home watches our kid. We always have some of our parents helping out with the kid as well. She's a SAHM but you also get your parents to help? Why? Seriously, we've raised five, and after the first c…

A couple of weeks before my oldest son's third birthday, he announced "When I turn three, I'll be the boss!" And sure enough, the day he turned three, he started doing exactly what you describe. I'm reaching for the light switch - "Daddy, turn off the light!" And so on. It was hilarious and we treated it as such. I suggest you take a similar approach, but only if you can actually find it amusing. If not, then it's safer to STFU/ignore it. She's literally acting like my three year old did. It's a…

That's a good start but you skipped a few things: Judges 19:24-25 - A man has a right to give women to men who are threatening to rape him (cf Genesis 19:8) Genesis 12:10-20, Genesis 20, Genesis 26 - A man has the right to say his wife is really his sister so that the ruler of the land will be good to him Judges 4 - A woman serves as an excellent assassin if need be There's also some silliness about loving your wife as Christ loved the church, giving honor to her, and living with her in an under…

You called a man misogynistic for saying godly men wanted women who don’t dress immodestly.
/r/RPChristians12/08/19 02:50 PM

IIRC you are a 30-something career woman, and you screeched about misogyny when a man truthfully said that godly men prefer women who dress modestly. So it’s not an either-or.

Should've included this in my original post, sorry if it was confusing - I'd already officially told the relevant people that I was ready to step down. My plan is to stick it out one more year (my sons - who rarely come anymore - should make Eagle in that time). Summer is a good time for a transition because everything slows way down. I've got to find and train a replacement (I currently have two options, both of whom should be ready within the year). But I started thinking maybe I was undervalu…

I do believe each generation of men has the duty to help shape the next. But more I was looking for other opinions about the relative merit of this as a hobby. There are things I enjoy about Scouts, and things I don't like about it. If I decide to step down, I'll find and train my replacement, and then move into a role where I can support him (with far less of a time commitment).

your kids aren’t even in it anymore Well, not much. They do come on occasion. It always goes that way when boys hit 14/15. If your son is going for Eagle, get it done early. Mine will hopefully finish up Eagle within the year. I have a couple of possible replacement SMs lined up. maybe you can still help out - be on the merit badge or planning committee If I drop SM I will take over the Committee for a while. That's a much lower commitment. Probably also do a couple of merit badges now and then.…

I have been mostly working from home for the last decade or more. It makes a huge difference - I don't recommend working from the spare bedroom often. I am currently in the library and earlier was in a coffee shop. (Didn't want to spend the money on a co-working location, and haven't gotten around to setting up a proper home office in my shop yet.) Although on the rare days when the kids are not in the house but my wife is, there can be some ... benefits.

Woman was created for the man. To help him. That's subordination. Man is the image and glory of God. Woman is the glory of the man. That is not equality. why would God simply re-iterate an already existing condition when He was telling Adam and Eve their respective punishments? He didn't. It is now in our very nature to need to work and achieve, because God defined that as our lot in life after the Fall. Adam was given the job to subdue the earth, pre-fall (Gen 1:28). Afterwards, his duty didn't…

Honestly though, even if it didn’t, it wouldn’t matter to us. We live in a fallen world. Eph 5 etc were written to New Testament believers after the resurrection so we are in the same spiritual situation as the original recipients. Egalitarianism is sinful any way you slice it.
