And some people like those in charge of Hobby Lobby, believe it is an unacceptable risk to take for the benefits conferred. You're right on the insurance part, which is where my own conclusion on this debacle would come in. But that's a separate discussion, as I was only commenting on your logic in the case you presented. See, my experience with that whole situation is that they still want control, they just don't realize it or want to give me the illusion of control. Every time I've been in that situation, every suggestion I make get's shot down until I come up with what they actually want and that's what we get, once I'm way down on the bottom of my list of what I actually want.

There are doctors that will flat-out refuse to give you a vasectomy if you're not married and have no kids. The point of the story is, though, that the doctor has no given right to require to know whether you're married and what your wife thinks about it. He can sit there and extoll to you how permanent the decision is and make sure it's well thought out on your part, but to say any consent besides the patient sitting in front of them is required is flat out wrong.
