4	The naked truth about masculinity I’m not totally sold on this reasoning. I grew up without my dad, and yes, I have some issues, but I attribute them to a deeply unstable childhood centered around my parents’ conflict. If I had to guess, I think many who grow up without a dad and also have emotional issues are likely that way because of the circumstances that brought about their parents’ separation.
